why are there so many chelsea fans at the emirates? fucking rich, plastic pseudo-gooners

and drogba/lampard are craaaazy. it's snowing, yet they're still wearing half-sleeves

I don't think its snow, i think its bubbly shampoo to soften the pitch :lol look at the grass in the 2 shots :D

It was closed door.

And I can't quite put my finger on it, but I just felt like I was much more in control of my team on both the offensive and defensive sides. I really liked how the ball reacted with the new physics and how the players more realistically engaged each other. Overall it just felt so much more satisfying to play.

Didnt know you cared about soccer! We play twice a week, if youre into it (real life soccer)

Eurogamer hands-on preview.
Supposedly FIFA10 plays a little bit slower to give you more time on the ball. Plus, some people said that they shrank the player sizes slightly so the pitch feels bigger.

Other changes are harder to gauge over a short playtest. Finesse shots seem tougher to pull off, and the refs are needlessly punitive, with far too many questionable fouls disrupting play. "Refs aren't fully figured out yet," Rutter reckons. Nor yet are the players, all of whom are currently undergoing final tweaking and balancing.

Looks like they went to the opposite extreme. At least they realize the flaws and are tweaking it.

Yep, I'm on two indoor teams. I play at the place down on Redwood Road in Woods Cross on Wednesdays and up in Kaysville on Thursdays.

I used to play in the Utah 2nd Division for outdoor, but it was so full of psycho ex-college players that too many games were degrading into brawls.

Where do you guys play?

Shades of WE9. Had literally 20-40 fouls a game. Still great though. Glad to see they're working on it though because it does need to be fixed.

I was going to say the same thing. WE9 all over again :lol

Thats funny cause I'm playing 2nd division outdoor :lol Not too many brawls last season though, we were on the top half of the standings, not bad

Actually shit, I also play at the same indoor place, we just got done with the last season yesterday. We made a team from work, but other than me and one other guy, the rest of the team was guys who've never played before, so we struggled a lot ...l which sucks because if we had our best guys, we could play in the top division, I think.

Also every Tuesday and Friday at noon we play during lunch hour over at Hogan Park in Woods Cross (people from work, usually 8 vs 8, more less depends how many show up). If you ever wann a play with us just let me know, we can always use more people :)

Also another thing I hope they fix is the camera on the be a Pro mode. Last years was a little better, but theres a lot of room for improvement regarding when the camera follows the ball or the player, etc ... it was very confusing to follow the ball with your vision since it always got lost with the background detail

You can always just change the camera to the normal wide Tele settings

hope they fix the ball bounce problem, and the refree is too often get in the way.
oh yeah name and number on shirt, why its all streched :lol

Nah, I like the sense of immersion, reminds me of Libero Grande which was fun in its own right. It just needs more iterations to be just right, if Im gonna use the normal camera then Ill just play PES which I like better (and treats the "be a pro" mode more realistically since you have to earn your spot, etc.)

I don't even fucks with the Pro Camera. It's Tele all the way for me. Be a Pro and Manager modes are for lamers anyway.

Pff , what's the point of designing the shorts like that ?.. Looks like they're running "backwards" ...

they should keep knee cam as long as they finally implement cock-and-balls physics. i swear you look at the dudes running and it's like there's basically completely static junk in there, no physics whatsoever even when they're jumping.

New interview with Rutter about FIFA10. Includes some footage of the free kick creation mode at about the 7:10 mark. Looks slick.

Edit: Some gameplay at about 1:50 and they show off the collision system at around 3:15.

heh. when Cashley passes to Alex, you can see John Terry sort of jump out of the way. In Fifa 09, the ball would have hit Terry and then bounced to the other team.

Yeah, that'll be nice. The jostling looks pretty good, too.

I had the chance to play this at E3 and the dribbling just puts the game in a whole different level...

It was slower but it wasn't that obvious. The Dev (who's name I can remember) had to tell me exactly what they changed, otherwise I wouldn't have noticed which is good by me cause FIFA09 was very close to perfection (IMHO).

it's awesome that they made it slower and the pitch a touch bigger. they really know what they're doing when it comes to fine-tuning the gameplay (even though they still piss me off when it comes to options/features/presentation)

It does really show that they took the fans' comments seriously which is awesome.

Any of you guys remember the producer, Danny, from FIFA 2004-2005? That guy touted Off the Ball control and First Touch control, etc. Man, the series was so wacked then.

LET ME MOVE THE FUCKING HUD

I play with overscan removed (1:1 pixel mapping), and the fucking HUD in '09 is basically in the centre of the screen!

Even the PES lets you move the HUD around the screen; does my nut in.

Electronic Arts and the Russian Premier League proudly announce that the Russian Championship will be included in EA SPORTS FIFA 10 - the latest game in the top-selling* soccer simulation game series - for PC, PSP® and PlayStation®2 platforms. The Russian Premier League is the last major championship missing in the EA SPORTS FIFA series, and with its addition the game will completely recreate the modern world soccer environment.

Saw a thread for the neogaf 10v10 team from last year which seems to have dwindled, is there any interest in doing one again this year? Id be proper up for it personally

Oh we'll definitely have one, but it's so ad hoc it doesn't really require the organization of a full-blown league.

nice, i played striker for a 10v10 team last year and it was great fun, hopefully the online code is a little bit more stable this year.

Well have neogaf tryouts i tells ya'

I really hope that they improved animations, the ones in FIFA09 didn't age very well. Especially shooting and crossing.
As far as the rest goes, still skeptic to see what the "manual" gameplay will do for the game. Playing FIFA09 with everything on manual wasn't fun, at all.

Does anyone know if they got the license for Bernabéu and the Dutch national squad?

Should be another one for FIFA10. It was fun when we played it as a big group, but it's difficult.

We're still playing in '09 occasionally, so let me know if you want to play sometime.

nice writeup over at OperationSports:

http://www.operationsports.com/preview.php?id=76

I can never go back to playing FIFA 09. That’s the thought that went through my head when I played through my first game of FIFA 10 at E3. I didn’t publicly say that at the time because I didn’t want it to be hyperbole for the sake of hyperbole. But after playing FIFA 10 for the second time, I don’t think it’s even hyperbole to say such a thing -- it’s just the truth.

The moment you take a step onto the practice arena pitch in FIFA 10, I truly believe you will feel the same way. I say that because of the 360-degree dribbling, tied in with the minute movements that come with full player control, really does change the game for the better. After all, when playing any sports game, having more control of your players is never a bad thing.

....These pressurized situations also tie into the states of urgency that are now in the game. For example during a situation where a player receives a pass and is is under no pressure, he will calmly settle the ball, which is replicated via an animation that is more lackadaisical in nature. However, during a more intense situation, a player will obviously be more focused and try to settle the ball quickly and get it out of there in a hurry....

Cristiano Ronaldo was another positive-negative portion to the Manchester vs. Manchester duel. It was great to see the AI-controlled Ronaldo doing skill moves, but at the same time it didn’t really seem like that was the virtual Ronaldo out there. It would have been great to see him do multiple step-over moves or other tricky stuff, but most of the skill moves he did were similar to things other players on the pitch were pulling off. I don’t mean to say Ronaldo should have moves that only he can pull off, but it would be great if Ronaldo had more of his signature style in the game, which I didn’t really witness. But regardless, I did at least fear him at all times....

Not sure. PES has had it the past few years. Not sure if it's exclusive or not.

There really is no reason to get FIFA if you're a PC gamer. PES is always leagues ahead.

Yup. Probably the best "console" to play PES on due to the overall gameplay engine and community patches and updates

No so cool.

And here I was hoping that, this year, they would finally give specific players more attention regarding their animations and style of play.
