The Core packs are old stock with RROD prone parts whereas the Arcades are likely to be the newer much more stable Falcon units. I personally wouldn't touch a Core unless it was dirt cheap i.e. under £100!

Good point, not sure how this is handled on your side of the pond.

I sent mine in with Dirty Disk Errors (not many but wanted it fixed before the warranty) and got it back in 6 days, then I see the nightmare that is in the USA....

I've never been a huge GTA fan, but that ad alone just got me to preorder it :D

Shouldn't over analyse this but how would a console being "King of the Fags" work? Would it wield real power over it's subjects or is it merely a ceremonial role? Is there a fag republic for those opposed to the monarchy? How was it crowned? How far back does the fag royalty bloodline extend? & Haven't I got anything better to think about.

If retail stores start selling GTA and a 360 premium for £199 they'll sell a tonne of them, thats a cracking deal, it effectively makes the 360 cheaper here than in the US!! Take that harmonix!
 
I still think the frys deal was the best back in October and thats why I bought the 360.

I just can't believe the variety of settings, and how jawdropping they all look. The church. Times Square. Mariska Hartigay Penitentiary. Just astonishing.

It honestly reminds of Crackton in terms of sheer ingenuity and imaginative focus on detail. I mean, it's in every fucking corner of every fucking frame. There's something awesome going on. In all of them.

It's the first video game ever that's Frank Quitely Powered.

As they said before, they plan for it to be on the same scale as the Halo3 launch.

However, the possibility of seeing non-360-specific TV and other ads remains open, it seems - the MS guy confirms that Rockstar, at least, will be running its own campaign separately.

"Rockstar will naturally be doing their own campaign to launch what obviously will be a massive title for them, but Microsoft sees GTA IV as a fantastic title to showcase how great Xbox 360 is... what with it's amazing graphics & gaming experience, coupled with playing with your friends on Xbox LIVE, achievements and of course the exclusive extra episodic content for GTA IV that will be downloadable this Autumn and will only be available on Xbox 360.

"As such you can expect a large awareness campaign from us, showcasing how great GTA IV on Xbox 360 is, and what great value the Xbox 360 console is too. Our campaign is the same sort of scale as our Halo 3 campaign last year so you can expect to see and hear a lot about GTA IV on Xbox 360 over the coming weeks."

TBH, if MS are doing marketing on a Halo3 scale, if I were rockstar I'd save my money - let MS do my job for me.


I'm not doubting MS' intentions, but for them, the question isn't how many people buy GTAIV, its how many people buy it on 360, or buy a 360 to play it. Lots of footage of GTAIV alone will only increase awareness of the game - they have to translate that into sales for their platform.

I hope they have suitable POS materials in stores to guide people to the 360 version. Wonder if there are any incentives being offered for retail to push the 360 version? Difficult to acheive with 3rd party software unless the incentives are coming from Take Two, but anythings possible.
