Looks pretty over the top. Not sure if they should have made it more realistic or kept it comic like. I think it looks pretty interesting though. The color explosion of the stuff on screen is pretty good too.
 
I like the look of it, but the style kind of bugs me a little bit. Hopefully I'll enjoy it more in non-trailer form.
 
I dont envisage the movie being very good at all, but wow the Wachowskis sure know how to put a picture on a screen. Looks amazing.
 
Hot damn! Really can't wait for this movie!

I agree, though, these new trailers are edited pretty poorly. The initial Speed Racer trailer had a lot less 'cool' footage but it still got me way more amped than these two trailers did. Still, can't wait.
 
I'm not here to troll but this movie looks nothing more than an HDTV Demo movie.

Some of the scenes look rediculous: In the second International Trainer: Where Racer-X(I'm not familiar with Speed racer) I guess, is fighting two guys.... Man it looks so freaking fake, thus bad. Compositing? Not very apparent.


Anyway, those are my thoughts.
 
I think it will be about as good as Transformers, for those of us who enjoyed Transformers as a summer action flick and not as the greatest gift from mankind. The AintItCool guys seemed to have really enjoyed the script. That's enough to warrant a viewing for me.
 
I think it looks fantastic. Totally original look; this movie is occupying a hitherto unexplored space between live-action and animation that is just plain awesome.
 
I'd just like to say that I never bothered watching the original cartoons and therefor had no interest in this film. However, after having a look at the trailer, I'm excited to see this digitally projected in a theater with my son. It looks like a fun, family friendly action flick. The Wachowski's continue to surprise and innovate.
 
The 2nd International trailer was badass - plan on seeing this at Imax on Day One. Sucks that the trailer gives away like 80% of the story though.

It doesn't really. Sure, the high level themes are there, but from the discussion I have seen online about the trailer nobody has really guessed right about what is happening at a detailed level e.g. why is there a Mach 5 and a Mach 6? Why is Rex Racer/Racer X being played by two different actors?

Ah, I didn't know Racer X and Rex were played by 2 different actors. Flashback maybe?

If I had to take a guess about the plot:

- Corporation notices Speeds ability in opening race
- Corporation then invites Speed over to tempt him to racer for them
- Racer X warns speed not to get involved with corrupt corporation
- Speed refuses, Corporation creates Mach 5 clone
- Pops makes Mach 6, big finale, Speed defeats clone
- Racer X plays awesome guitar solo

At least until 2009, when a certain animated movie gets adapted for the big screen....

The Matrix sequels destroyed my faith in the Wachowski's but this looks pretty cool. Their attempt to make a living cartoon (both in terms of visuals and logic) is going to be interesting, at the very least. I'll buy a ticket just to see if they pulled it off.

For the record, guys, that is not true. I'm speaking of Larry Wachowski's supposed sex change, of course. It was just a rumor. They are STILL The Wachowski Brothers. :lol
