First In-Game Screenshot of RollerCoaster Tycoon World

Well...

Dear Fans,

We’re just getting back from E3, after showing a number of Atari projects. We hope you are as excited as we are for the many great games coming out later this year – including RCTW! The development team is hard at work polishing our newly integrated milestone. This game is big and we have a lot to do over the next few months which is why we have an incredible (and large) team working on it.

All of this work now also allows us to begin showing off full in-game screenshots rather than the game engine shots we had been showing for the last few weeks. For the first time you get to see what the game actually looks like right now un-edited, and how all of the hard work is paying off.

To start, we wanted to share a view down a path in a park a member of our team made. The focus of this first shot is scenery and environment. Before we reveal the rides (and more) we wanted to start with the basics – the ground floor of your park, if you will.

We are gearing up next for our developer reveal and screenshots that we know will get everyone very excited. Rather than me talking about many of the new and improved features, I have asked the team to take a shot that simply shows them all off – including the rides. Until then, we will be a little quieter on the forums and social media as we focus on our upcoming big reveal.

That said, keep posting on our forums as many of your ideas (which you will see very soon) have made it into the game and are shaping it every day! Now’s the perfect time to join our community, as you’ll soon be able to chat with our development and community management teams!

Cheers,

RollerCoaster Tycoon World

It looks okay. But I want to see rides.

Let's seem some gameplay videos and go from there.

There's WAAAAY too much stock put into early screenshots to confirm confidence.

I want to see the hud. The charts. The micromanagement.

So excited

With a new Sim City replacement and a new Rollercoaster Tycoon replacement, I am just so happy

You should be just as wary of that.
I guess, but I generally like Frontier as a studio and their work on theme park "simulation" games. I certainly trust them more than Atari-In-Name-Only or whoever the mysterious third developer is on RCTW. I mean it's certainly an improvement over the reveal, don't get me wrong, but this whole thing has still been very shady.

Huh? Is this the new Rollercoaster game Frontier works on? Looks really great.

But why is it called Tycoon World, just like that shitty Atari game they showed a couple of months ago?

Or is it the same game? I don't understand...

Frontier's new game is called Planet Coaster. This is Roller Coaster Tycoon World, the game Atari showed a while ago which has since shifted to its third developer. It started at Pipeworks, then went to Area 52, and is now at "???." Who knows how much of what they originally showed is left.

Well, that's a screenshot. Seems a touch realistic for the series, but it doesn't look bad either, so maybe this iteration of the game is getting the attention it deserves.

Gonna have to work hard to make up for the poor previous showings, and to beat out Planet Coaster's good reveal.

Just saw this. HUGE improvement over what they've shown before. It'll be interesting to see where it goes from here (and also to compare it to Frontier's Planet Tycoon). I still don't have that much faith in RCT World, gameplay-wise.

Im sure the majority of people dont visit the forums enough to see this is nothing but a veil of lies.
They still havent said who is working now in the game so if another bad thing happens they can sack them with not too much of a problem (already 2 studios were sacked a silent as they could do it).

This is going to fail hard, and this screen is not going to be representtive of the game, mark my words.
The game still has a release window for this year, they are not going to make, its unrealistic.

BTW This still look like RCT3 with scenery mods.

Wow they must put a lot of money in this game if they keep changing the studios ... Do you have a source for that?

You only need to visit the forums.

First was pipeworks who try to work with the community. Tried to improve things and probably asked more money and/or time to atari.
They were sacked with a PR letter saying they "already did their job" and Area 52 will do the rest of more online components.
Area 52 worked with the schedule and money that Atari said, released the trailer, got a huge uproar becuase that shit looked worse than RCT3 from 2004, and after just a few days their name dissapeared from the forums and website.
Atari released a "dev diary" not saying they were sacked, but that they were noticing the community response and a new dev they didnt want to disclose (their excuse was so that the fans didnt "bug" them) were appointed to finish the game with more news each week.
This was all done after Frotier said, "we are going to make the real spiritual successor of RCT3".

They only have released unity shots of props and this image that doesnt look that even has a lighting renderer, but just a weird white photoshop filter so we cant see the real level of detail.

BTW This is the only game that would give money to a zombie atari.

Much better than I was expecting after the initial trailer but need to see a lot more before I can begin to get excited over it. Promising though!, I would love a new RCT.

It's all looking too good to be true.

Dear Fans,

As you have seen in my recent blogs and screenshot reveals, the future is bright and the ride to the finish is clear.

One of the reasons for this is the new developer, Nvizzio Creations, whom we chose to work with a few months ago. They have brought fresh new ideas and expanded on the essentials all while embracing the challenge of making such a historic and giant game as RollerCoaster Tycoon World. Everything we have shown you recently has been the work of this incredibly hard-working and talented team. Nvizzio loves this franchise as much as we all do and wants to make a game they too can enjoy for decades to come.

Until this point (and since blog 6) I wanted to just show you their work before revealing their name, so you could judge them on the merits of their work because, frankly, they deserve it.

Additionally, with this talented and large team, we were able to quickly respond to your feedback to make this game better. You saw this with the significant upgrade of the graphics of the game and you will also see in some of the features we will announce (think UGC at launch!). No stone has been left unturned in an effort to make this the next great RCT game in the franchise.

And with that, I want to reveal a fully in-game, unedited screenshot of RollerCoaster Tycoon World, taken only one day ago. This shot contains a sneak peek of a few things you have been asking about (curved paths!). Many of the pieces in the shot were released over the last few weeks. Today you get to see how Nvizzio has brought them together – before even implementing the many layers of additional polish yet to come.

Today’s just an introduction; you will learn more about the team and have a chance to interact with them in upcoming blogs and social media. We are super excited with the progress being made on RollerCoaster Tycoon World and welcome your continued feedback as we get closer to launching the game! See you on the forums!

How is it possible for a dev team to take over and turn a project around so drastically, in such a short time? Seems fishy but damn that screen looks good.

I was ready to cry but that looks way better than the last time they showed the game. A new, good RCT game would be amazing.

The original trailer was almost assuredly a failed mobile game project they were cheaply attempting to port to PC which obviously backfired spectacularly. It's entirely possible the design innards are still there, for better or worse, while for certain this is at least an overhaul of the dogshit visuals.
