First Kong: Skull Island Trailer

Not sure what I think on the visual aspect. A lot yellow-tints and some 'eh' CGI shots. CGI usually gets touched up between trailer and release though.

I don't get the story. It's clearly Vietnam war era, but that does that mean this is a sequel? Is it a reboot? Did the 1930's Kong (PJ or 1933 original) happen?

Any one know what's up here?

Given both of those movies ended with very public displays of a massive gorilla rampaging in one of the most populous cities on earth and this film hinges on a character proving monsters exist, I think it's clear they are not keeping the previous films in canon in anyway. It's a reboot + time period shift.

Is it me or does the CGI look like crap?

Release date is March 2017. The movie is far from finished in its current state.

Never even heard of this.... and.....

I am in! Looks like tons of fun. I get a Predator and Aliens vibe from this. And no, not an Aliens vs. Predator kind of vibe.

So this is the first half of the story, minus New York?

Why is this in the 70's when Godzilla, which this is supposed to tie into, is set in modern day?

I guess I'm interested, hence all the questions, but I can't get a good feel on whether this will be good or bad from the trailer. But I am interested.

Bigger is not always better. I'll watch the movie but right now this feels like such a juvenile and unnecessary version of the King Kong story. Let's hope I'll be proven wrong.

Legendary is still working with WB? I thought they severed their partnership a few years ago?

Also looks ok, it's weird that they show Hiddleston and whoever that girl is like they're sorta important but then don't give them a single line in the trailer.

This new Kong and Godzilla...

Very reminiscent of "Apocalypse Now" in atmosphere, hopefully we don't have another Godzilla situation where it's all buildup with very little payoff.

I wouldn't go into this expecting it to follow any predetermined route. The only thing we know for certain is that 40 years after this film he is going to get the shit kicked out of him by Godzilla and that's it.

You saw that crying with one tear action? classic.

Most likely cgi too.

The cinematography is on point. But the trailer is really just a bunch of shots of the cast looking at something in awe in different locations. I know it's a tease. But how many times can that happen? Lol

The story could have potential since it's obvious that the group is fighting amongst itself. Like the shot of Kong at the end is him creeping on two dudes fighting to the death.

Good cast, good atmosphere, hopefully good movie. Previous King Kong movies weren't completely convincing. But at least they cut out the usually boring part from this one.
