Square Enix is currently developing an avatar creation system for Final Fantasy XV‘s multiplayer component. A strange decision for a single-player Final Fantasy game, but yes, it’s happening and will be available sometime in the future.

Speaking with DualShockers, director Hajime Tabata shared the first look at the in-development system and some thoughts on how it’ll make its way into Final Fantasy XV proper.

“Right now, the current stage of development lets you change the character and morph it into another character that looks very different,” said Tabata. “We want to implement it so that you can use them in single player as well, although this is something usually made for multiplayer.”

DualShockers was then shown a video of the current stage of development (pictured below). It’s still early and a lot of features aren’t there but we can see adjustment tools for Height, Face Size and Muscle Definition.

As long as I can go daemon hunting with my friends I'll be happy.

I still believe this is essentially creating your own hunter for online content designed around the
10 year gap in the World of Ruin. I wonder if you can choose a style to play as depending on the weapon you pick (I.e. You will play like Gladio's DLC if you use great swords or as whatever Prompto's style is in his DLC). Raids to reclaim area taken by demons, defending light spots, going into oldddungeons for items or specific kills....this could really work if done well.

This basically sums up FFXV's development

Proposal: They plan for their next game to have a character creator and feel like building the feature now.
Create-a-character does not belong in single-player FF's, I will never stop bitching if they do this.

Coop is also something that would make this game 100x better. Fuck all the haters.
The camera can't even keep track of Noctis half the time, how in the fuck do you think co-op would make the game better?

They've mentioned multiplayer and a customizable character a while ago. Pump the brakes on the doom and gloom. This could be fun if done right.

That said, I hope they don't go further than just letting us customize the characters a little bit for XV-2 or XVI or whatever's next (unless it's a new IP). Fully creatable main protag would be weird for this.

Well XVI is probably already in developement at another team (many are speculating on the XIV BD), and i'd like Tabata's team to polish this one and give it great legs instead of working on a XV-2.

I don't know, that would seem kind of weird for a non-MMO Final Fantasy.
What'd be different if they treat the character like Vaan from FF12? I mean what would be different if we had a self insert added in his place (and/or panelo too)
