First official poster for Netflix's Death Note movie adaptation

When you say that Dafoe is in this,do you mean like he is wearing a costume, voicing the shinigami or his face stamped in a cgi model?
He can pull it off, dude can be really creepy when he wants and has a sinister smile too.

Its just going to be Dafoe standing around with spiked hair.

I watched Death Note for the first time last year, so I'm highly intrigued by this. I can't see how it can possibly work as a single movie, but I'm interested in watching the attempt.

Yeah. After how great his other films have been, if he pulls this off he'll truly be one of the best genre filmmakers working right now.

I mean The Guest is all right, but really

Dunno why I thought this was going to be a TV series. Seems like they're going to have to cut a lot of content to make it into a 1h30/2h movie. Guessing they might scrap everything that happens after
L dies
and let the movie ends right after that.

Pretty much what they did in the Japanese series only that still took two movies plus L had his own third movie which was pretty good.

I dont like the look of Ryuuku on this poster. His back is too spiky and his eyes too different. His face looks standard alienish, looks really generic. Ryuuku is supposed to have BIG round eyes and a huge grin and this poster doesn't show that.

You mean the Shinigami?

They are an important part of Death Note

Personally I think they should've Westernized/Christianized the Shinigami's in this adaptation and made them something like Grim Reapers/Angels of Death.

Why not make it a TV Show? I don't think the whole story can be encapsulated in a single movie.

They're not attempting to encapsulate the whole story of the manga/anime in this movie but to have their own take based on the manga/anime but adapted to America that can be told within a movie.

Looks ok. I liked a couple of wingards movies

Not sure if he will pull this one off but Willem Dafoe and Keith Stanfield was really dope casting for ryuk and l

Also with it being on Netflix I'll watch it sooner rather than later

Im legit looking forward to this. Wish it was coming out earlier 😭 Im going to be on vaction when it comes out so ill have to watch it when i get back

Really, really can't wait for this movie. This needs to be the template or inspiration for making good anime adaptations.

Key word: adaptation.

Didn't know an African American is playing L.
That's actually preety fucking cool.

I think so too but I got jumped on for not being concerned enough for the lack of Asian actors in one of the other threads. Ugh.
