First Project Cars screenshots from PS4

looks good but are the trees 2d?
Mix of 3D in close (with self-shadowing) and scarce situations and 2D for the vast treelines. They're doing the polish pass on most tracks at the moment where the amount of 3D trees seems to be rising. Couldn't find screenshot from my folders just now to show the difference, but have good texture shot instead ;)

Perspective. It doesn't look like what I've seen in the PC screenshot thread so that's probably a disappointment to some (it shouldn't be). I think it looks like Forza 5 with far less compromises made but not as good as DriveClub.

There are quite a few things in the current PC build that aren't up to snuff compared to Forza 5 (some materials/paint/tires/"my garage"), but I'd say its more than great what they've accomplished so far.

Weather and actual real time lighting/shadows are a big plus. We've yet to see a final build too. I wonder how far off they are.

Would be nice to see this on the consoles. F5 shows this texture quality can be reached on a racer.

Very nice.

Incredible. Just incredible.

People saying this looks good? Low-res textures and aliasing everywhere. Really a quite ruined version of PCars

This, honestly i can't understand how anyone says this looks good. It is a shadow of itself on pc. Looks like NFS Rivals at 60fps and i will be getting this for PC to play the soon to be mine G27. My first proper racing wheel with my first proper sim racer. A match made in heaven.

lol perfect timing to ruin the #DRIVECLUB party

Game looks really good btw

This. Driveclub comes out October, Project CARS November. Driveclub is going to lose a ton of sales due to this, including mine most likely. They needed to get Driveclub out the door so much sooner.

It looks good for 1080/60 but not as good as #DC. There is a reason that game is 1080/30. Also if they can pull off Morpheus with these visuals, I think that would be pretty damn good.

The graphics look fine if it means it'll be 60fps. All of the PC screenshots are downsampled from a super high resolution anyway, and in most cases they almost always look better than any of the videos I've seen of the game.

Looks awesome. Wonder how Xbox One and Wii U versions will compare. PC is obviously the way to go though if you want the best graphics.

How do people keep expecting this for morpheus? Do you really think a PS4 can render this twice at 60fps?

I expect it because they announced it.

And it doesn't have to render twice that - it would be probably 1080p splitscreen, so two slightly different views but no extra pixels. It'll be lower detail, but shouldn't be too bad

I'm just wondering how this is going to play with a DS4 since the face buttons are digital. I don't like using the shoulder buttons for trottle/brake nor the analog sticks.

I've seen so many crazy downsampled PC shots of this game that screens that would normally be impressive don't seem to be doing anything for me. lol

Surely this has a vastly smaller budget than DriveClub, so comparing the two is a little unfair. DC is Sony's AAAA racer, so if this competes in the visual stakes (obviously the environments are not as good as DC's), then that is pretty impressive.

You should say, a beefed-up PC is the way to go ... those amazing super high res and smooth fps on PCs come at a price. Not all PCs can handle those super graphics they show in their videos. Most folks forget that detail when comparing PCs to consoles and of course the gap keeps widening due to static nature of consoles vs PCs getting better and better.

Drive club developers wanted more eye candy and details for their game which is more work than using standard details and 60FPS.

They also have more money and a bigger team.

60fps isn't easy either, otherwise DC would be 60fps as well and doing physics on the cpu that is in the PS4 for a sim with this fidelity is unseen. Perspective really matters.

DC couldn't push the physics of this game, nor fps and maintain it's eye candy nor is that aim which is why it can look that good.

Ewww. Now that I'm at the office, and on my work PC (not my phone like earlier), those cars and screens look rough.

Those cars and the texture/poly work aren't near Driveclub or Forza 5 quality.

It looked pretty good until I checked them out full screen, some serious color banding going on.

Looks pretty bland.
Graphically #DC wipes the floor with this, DC will no doubt be more fun too (I'm not a fan of sim racers).
For sure I'll pick up this game if it comes out on Steam for Linux.

and people have already mentioned why it does.

A sim racer has more to deal with especially with physics than DC ever will same for FPS. You're not buying this game for looks and if you are you're better off getting the pc version.

I "invested" in this game a while back and it said I'd potentially get a return on it.
Is that still a thing? Is it likely us backers will actually make any money? Haven't heard anything in a while.

Definitely doesn't look as good as Drive Club, but it'll have to do.

Game sacrifices frame-rate for visuals: "where's my 60fps?!"
Game runs at 60fps while still looking great: "looks meh, why doesn't it look as good as a game that has twice the time to render each frame?"

I would trade 60 FPS for slightly better visuals any day of the week.

Of course, I will have the PC version so I will have the best of both worlds.

Yeah this game looks nothing like the bull shots the have been posting for what seems like years now. The tracks still have serious inconsistencies in detail and are underwhelming to say the least.

I know it's still unfinished but its still a problem.

Are you kidding?

So far we have had a cross-gen NFS and the worst Forza game of the series.
I had a whole post written out and canceled it but I agree. No wheel support for existing wheels on Xbone kills the racing game genre for me on that which is a shame, iffy support on PS4. PC has been great but consoles are really behind in this genre right now.

What bullshots, do you mean the PC version?

People need to understand the difference between bullshots and just showing the PC version.

Bullshots would be if they are passing off the PC version as the console version, as developers/publishers often due at E3. See: Watch Dogs, Bioshock Infinite, The Division, etc.

They have clearly posted PS4 shots, not trying to confuse anyone here.

Pics seems to be of better quality in the European PSBLOG, It looks great there!
Very impressive considering it's 60 FPS.

Showing PC shots rendered at super high resolutions beyond 4k and downsampled are still bullshots, if you ask me. Is anyone getting a solid 60 fps (or even solid 30 fps) at beyond 4k resolutions?

Between this and Driveclub, I'm more interested in DC from the handling models Evolution has gone with in games prior along with the fact it looks nicer.

With that being said, it's cool to see a 60 FPS 1080p racer like this hitting for those that hungry for it. Always good to have options.
