First reactions to X-Men: Days of Future Past

Will wait for actual reviews but i'm pretty tired of the franchise regardless.

Much more excited for GotG.

As I said before ....

In Singer we trust... for x-men movies

That would have meant something if his x films were actually consistent.

I'm cautiously optimistic, but remember way back when when people were gushing about episode 2 before release?

???

he only did xmen 1 and 2, those were pretty consistent to me in spite of x2's leap in quality

I meant the films themselves. As units. You go from highs (wolverine, magneto, etc) to lows like toad, storm, cyclops. Not to mention those two films are very hard to watch a second time.

These threads aggregating early reactions rarely ever seem to be indicative of what the final critical consensus ends up being, so consider me hyped but cautious.

Hah, that's hilarious. Cool if people think the Quicksilver bit is good, interested in seeing how both studios handle the character.

Loved the effects they used for his running in
Cap 2.

Wait, Ellen Page is in this?

Not sure how well quicksilver is going to work, being in two separate universes and two completely different portrayals.

can't fucking wait!

Wow glad this is getting such positive reception. I was kind of worried about it, honestly. Now I'm super hyped!

First I wasn't interested, then I was. Now I'm just fucking hyped. Great to see it won't be the crap everyone thought it would be.

Good to hear but I laughed when I saw Kevin McCarthy posted first...I know that guy and he is amazed by every movie and is a little too obsessive about saying using "geek" at all times.

Good guy, but he REALLY liked Need for Speed.

I can see this movie making $130m or $100m over the 4-day weekend. FC had positive buzz as well but people just weren't as interested. Toss in the star power of Jackedman and Lawrence, and it could bump DoFP up by a decent margin.

If reviewers compare it to Avengers, that will probably improve the numbers.

The thirst people have for critical reaction as affirmation of their views always amuses me :lol

One of these guys who is praising DOFP also spaffed his load over TASM2 which everyone seems to hate.

Lets just put our trust in based Singer to pull another X2 out of the bag (and to pls stop touching the children). Fuck if I care what colliderfrosty thinks about anything.

Twitter reaction threads are filled with confirmation bias. A lot of I told you so nonsense and so on. To me it's just noise till I see the movie, I believe in Singer though since X2 is one of my top comicbook flicks.

I had hoped these positive reactions would be the case when they brought back Singer who directed the best film in this universe. Can't wait to see it

Oh man. This is looking better than expected. Clearly Avengers massively overperforming has raised the bar all around.

If GOTG does well DC will have to knock it out of the park with Batman vs superman.

I don't care. I refuse to believe Quicksilver is good. That design is enough for me to hate him.

I refuseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Here in Japan, it's X-Men: Future and Past. Lol

God, the minute I saw the poster at a theater in Osaka I was like "oh god Japan, you fucked it up. God dammit."

Same, the recent Godzilla thread is another good example of confirmation bias working its' magic before a film even hits theaters. It always weirds me out when I see people talk about their opinions of a film that they haven't even seen yet.

It would be hilarious if the initial TMNT twitter reactions follow the same path, "The nostrils are the best part of the movie! Can't imagine the turtles without them now!!"

It still baffles me as to why anyone ever thought it would be. Most of this predictions saying "This movie is going to be such a trainwreck" were completely unfounded. Both X-Men films that Singer directed were great, and first class was solid. I think that now because we live in the Marvel Studios era, some people have become brainwashed into thinking that no Marvel super-hero movie pre-Iron Man was every really that good.

Probably has a lot to do with that terrible first trailer.

Will there be a non-spoiler reaction thread on GAF?

I think it was Captain Merca that released early overseas and the reactions on GAF make me decide to check it out.

I didn't want to watch this movie but if it's as good as the quotes in the OP say, i'll watch it. Hopefully it's actually X-Men and not Wolverine & Friends.

Look at each director's track record and you'll see that it's very unlikely. Singer seems like a horrible person, but his X-Men movies have been great.

No matter how good he is the costume design is still garbage, which is what most people were criticizing.
Costume design being garbage led to character being garbage.

Character being garbage led to Singer being garbage.

Singer being garbage led to the movie being garbage.

Movie being garbage led to Fox being garbage.

Fox being garbage led to "give rights back to Mahvel!"
