First reactions to X-Men: Days of Future Past

So disappointed about no Nightcrawler in this movie. Great character that is severely underutilized.

Probably would have been even more underutilized in this film. Doesn't sound like the original cast has much going on. I imagine if he was in it, it'd be nothing more than an extended cameo. He deserves better than that.

Yeah, he is my favorite X-Men character so I'd love to see him in X-Men: Apocalypse. His white house scene remains one of the best scenes out of all the X films.

Cap 1 >>> Thor 1 >>>>>> Thor 2 >>>> TDKR.

I don't want to derail this thread, so this will be my last non X-Men related post, but I just can't fathom how someone could think this (opinions, I know). The first Thor movie has almost no redeemable qualities beyond a cool looking rainbow bridge and a small Idris Elba role. It's like the most unremarkable movie of all time. It's worse than Spider-Man 3, X-Men: Origins, and even true, true shit like Catwoman, because at least then those movies are so bad, they're good. Thor just kind of exists. It has no memorable sequences, no great acting, an awful romance plot, and one of the worst comic relief characters ever in Kat Dennings's character. Thor 2 at least has some cool Loki scenes, but that's about it.

Like someone said above, the ending sequence to TDKR is a great montage. Those two or three minutes alone are better than every single frame of the Thor series.

It feels odd getting so worked up over this.

I think the first Thor is pretty good myself (relatively speaking). Loki in that film is one if the more interesting villain depictions for the genre. There's too much tumblr fan girl bait nj Avengers and Dark World, but the first movie has a pretty cool spin on his character.

Thor's and Loki's character arcs is what I like most about Thor 1. Loki is at his best in the first film, avoided the cliche wanting to be king and instead he wanted to please his father. Then the fan girls got him.-_-

X-men Dofp Premiere is Tonight.

Possible Premier info spoilery stuff.
Both James Marsden and Famke Janssen are there. There are pics of them at the Premiere. Doesn't really confirm anything , just saying. edit2 . I've read that they actually were up on stage with the rest of the cast. Again this in no way confirms anything

I thought Loki in Thor 2 was awesome. He adds so many twists to the story. The way he was humanised with his relationship to his Mother. It fed back into the story line really nicely. The Dark knight ended at a point where the story felt like it was about to escalate even further, Loki gave that to Thor 2.

Back to X Men, First Class finished in a similar way. Xavier's paralysed and Magneto's just getting warmed up. I'm trying very hard to temper my expectations for dofp. I loved first class. It had some cheesie moments, but when it was firing on all cylinders it was phenomenal. So many amazing scenes to talk about.

One little innocuous bit that perfectly captured the tone of the film is when sebastian shaw hands emma peel a glass of whiskey. "Get me some ice". She takes the glass walks through a luxurious lounge into the operational area of the submarine and finally climbs out onto the bridge to cut a piece of ice out of an overhanging iceberg. The camera then flys back to reveal the submarine has surfaced through the arctic ice pack. An innocuous scene turned epic.

Quicksilver...wow. His main scene is highlight of the film.

I keep seeing this thread bumped, and I keep hopping in hoping to see NY premier reactions. All I see are MCU comments.

But it just came in 4th place during AMC's best super hero movie ever bracket last month. I guess people outside of these silly GAF cliques still haven't gotten the memo. :(

4th...hmmm Batman Begins and and TDK are def in the top 5 imho only parts of TDKR were on their level. I...guess it could be top 10 but ...not mines.

you all worshipped him as a god, then cast him out from heaven when TDKR didn't meet all of you guys expectations.

Then you don't shut up about Nolan ever -_-

It's because he had to cast himself out, he needed to come back to us. To show us the way. Because our destiny lies above us.

Hey, you liked ASM2, you might just love this! With flaws and all!

Singer showing how it's done. Time for Marvel to dump Whedon and usher in the Singer/Russo Bros golden age.

Fuck yeah!

But I'm gonna confirm this sentiment after I see it.

Some more reactions

Can't wait to see #Xmen again when it opens later this month. Exciting & emotionally satisfying. @BryanSinger did a terrific job directing.

Was looking forward to this but I refuse to watch it now due to Bryan Singer.
After the allegations, I will not be paying to see this.
So even after the first allegations were found to be false and these new ones most likely will be too, you're still holding this mindset?

Stupidest thing ever.
Only have a link to a brazilian site, but aparently Singer gave an interview where he basicaly confirmed that the next movie will have to cast
Jean, Scott and Ororo
AHHHHHHH! This and other "reports" regarding them have me extremely excited for the next movie.

Forreal though cap 2 best comic book film since TDK, man of steel could have been (I think it has some good scenes and interesting ideas but the script is...off. It just feels hollow through many scenes)

Xmen dofp gonna be the saviour
Couldn't agree more.

Damn these impressions are great. I really hope Singer didn't do what he's accused of, as apart from the obvious horribleness for the victims, everything points to Apocalypse being even better with his X2 writers back with him.

First Class is the only one I really liked so far. Didn't care for the first three at all. X2 was the most well made of the first three but I wasn't really into the story or characters that much. Hopefully this can win me over.

Empire is releasing the first official review at 5 PM EST. More should follow after that. This guy I guess broke embargo though. Warning: this review contains massive spoilers.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is up there with X-Men: First Class as one of the best films in the X-Men series. It’s filled with action, it’s tense, and is surprisingly thoughtful at times. If you like X-Men — even if you hate what the movies became — you should see it.

Another review. This time without any major spoilers thankfully.
Which is why I am so blown away by what Singer has done. Imagine being the guy who started this whole thing. Imagine watching it fall to pieces over the last 14 years, hurtling into an unknown future. Now imagine being offered the job to come back and save the series…but you have to work with all the chaos that has come before. Singer has adapted his filmmaking approach; he does not simply cling to his old successful tactics, but instead acknowledges the franchise’s journey, incorporating everything the film needs to address and more. It effectively accomplishes its mission. And it’s badass to boot.

I Really Hope the Next X-men Film Has Mister Sinister in it as well.Apocalypse/Sinister duo worked well In the Video game X-Men Legends 2. Do it SINGER!..

Quicksilver having a great scene doesn't stop him from looking like Anime Con Andy Warhol.
