First Reviews for "The Angry Birds Movie"

So I've seen some really insane reviews for this film.

"Man anger" aside, I've also seen "Red Bird should be ostracized because he's unwelcoming to the pigs. It is anti-immigrant!"

Holy fucking shit.

My niece chose this over The Jungle Book because she thought that'd be too scary. It was terrible. Lucky I used accrued loyalty points so I didn't pay for it, but...

They freaking stole Quicksilver's schtick from DOFP wholesale. What the fuck?

The whole slow thing? It's actually something done by others.

Looks like Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within is going to remain the best reviewed video game movie of all-time. Angry Birds gave it a run at least.

To this day the movie still felt cringy and left me scratching my head.

This film loves its pop culture references. In addition to the now commonly brought up Days of Future Past/The Shining references (the latter of which they screwed up because that's not what the girls say in that film), there's also one in the background for Fifty Shades of Grey. Yup.
Yeah, but none of it was funny. And it just looked like they ripped it off and hoped kids wouldn't have seen DOFP or cared rather than parody anything.

The film got a few laughs out of me, but for the most part, it felt like it tried too hard to be funny. But my niece enjoyed it, at least.

The bit where Chuck goes superfast and repositions the pig guards to hurt themselves instead of firing at them before anyone notices he'd even moved. Other films may have done something similar before, but the execution was a blatant ripoff of DOFP.

Also, outside of that I thought thought going into slow-mo with accompanying slowed down voices was way overdone. They probably did it at least five times in the movie. The film just didn't seem like it had any fresh ideas.

That said, the whole anti-immigrant criticism is dumb. They just thought up a premise that adapts the simple story from the game. So what if you happen to draw parallels to immigration. Boohoo.

This movie was terribad. My 3-year-old lives all things Angry Birds so he was thrilled, but man it was awful. The pee scene made me smile.

I had zero expectations for the movie but after finding out the talent behind it (and listening to an interview with them), my interest was peaked a bit. I'll probably check it out on home release.

Comparing it to Spirits Within is high praise. And I say this as someone who unequivocally HATED spirits within and any relation it had with FF. Which was none.

I've seen that even as early as Over the Hedge but I feel the whole set up even predates it. Mind you I am not defending the film but AB is the last place I will expect for fresh ideas.

But yeah the anti-immigrant shit is dumb, and if anything it is more akin to forced colonization in early history.

Despite the poor reviews, it is on track to make $37.8M to $38M this weekend. wow.

It's already at $151 million worldwide? Am I reading that right?

This movie is already a bigger success than the Rachet and Clank film.

I saw the Angry Birds movie last night and it was actually not as terrible as expected! I'd say maybe 7/10 if you like older music (The Who? Never Gonna Give You Up?) and lots of adult-targeted jokes (from the vulgar, to Kevin Bacon playing Hamlet, to The Shining).

Very colorful, decent soundtrack, and some laugh-out-loud moments.

Really? I thought people liked that movie.

As a Silent Hill fan, and a Sean Bean fan, it was pretty awful :\

It showcased all the same kinds of bullshit that led to the downfall of the series in the first place. "Oh people like this Pyramid Head guy, huh? Let's put him in to a story where he has no relevance!"

Other than that it's a bunch of nonsense followed by the ending where the character almost literally says, "Congratulations, you win the game!" followed by "here's the whole backstory, wow, crazy, huh?"

It actually looks kind of decent and the cast is great. It's just bizarre that an Angry Birds theatrical film is being released a good fiveish years after Angry Birds stopped being a thing.

hahaha it sure didn't. Still one of the top selling apps on app store(currently #6) and I can't go anywhere without seeing angry birds.....crap. Took my kid for his first haircut the barber put the bib thingy on him and it was angry birds. I chuckled.

That's not what I asked

People find random site through searching online :l. And if its interesting, they put links in posts that can add to the discussion.

Links to reviews are an example of this.

If you are talking about the site? We look through news all over the net and interesting stories we put up for people to look at :). The Angry Birds Review was just an idea I had due to recently seeing the film and enjoying it.

I meant how you original found the website.

I meant how you original found the website.

The original website was found from just messaging the founder of Crashy News after asking via Twitter if he needed help with anything. He then let me help on his site and told me about his other site he was working on soon after. I said I could help him out and here I am today, helping found a fun website about video games, movies and all forms of media!
