(First?) Shots of Sonic Unleashed

Teknoman said:
How so? Sonic Rush Adventure and I think the original Rush as well, had 3d perspective change parts. But as things stand now, the pure 2.5D camera sections look just like a Rush game.

When the camera leaves Sonic, that just seems to be a kinda Debug/spectator camera mode to just show off stuff.

EDIT: Unless you didnt like Rush...then I guess I see where you're coming from.
It's more about the fact that whereas classic Sonic, in my mind, is about the mix of breakneck speedways and cautious platforming, the Sonic Rush games are basically about the rollercoaster aspect and throwing whatever gimmicks they can at you; compared to anything in Sonics 1-3 or CD, the levels are totally vapid and boring. They're still fun, but definitely not what I want from a new console Sonic.

Hope you enjoy watching Sonic break dance upon completion of each level. :D
I actually kinda do. :(

Well looking at what we've seen in the past, at least its a step in the right direction. And Rush 1 did have some platforming parts that werent all breakneck speed. Really im just hoping the game plays more like a combo of an older Sonic game and Rush 1. Rush Adventure had tooo many blazing fast sections.

Holy shiste. This is the kind of Sonic game I've been waiting for for years. Sonic Adventure 3? With a bit less walking around by the looks of it. More platforming. I don't play too many Sonic games, but this just got me very excited. What a surprise! I'll keep my eye on this one. Hopefully, it resembles its Dreamcast ancestors more than it does its black sheep (last PS3/360 Sonic game).

Anybody else here thinking about how different this looks from normal PS3 and 360 games. You're all thinking it. I'm just saying it. What happens if these are leaked images from the rebirth of their Sonic Adventure series? What happens if this turns out to be a launch title for the Dreamcast 2?

I could see it happening. Maybe thats because I've been hoping way too much. :lol But, seriously, what happens if it was true? This could very well move systems. I'm getting too giddy. Somebody slap me. I want to believe, but I'm ready to be disappointed. :'(

It's gonna be so awesome when this is released. History loves repeating itself, and I doubt this will be an exception.
"Awesome" as in Sega fans crying bitter tears, or "awesome" as in longstanding Sonic fans finally vindicated?

I hope when he said history loves to repeat itself...he meant that a good original console Sonic game was bound to come back around sometime.

Also bring back Zones, Acts, and music being a different mix of the same song in Act 2.

EDIT: Who did the music for Sonic Advance 1, because that had some nice music as well.

The intro song was great, Casino Paradise had one of the best themes i've EVER heard for a Casino/Carnival stage aside from Casinopolis in SA1 (the first section). Neo Green Hill, Egg Rocket, Secret Base (Sonic spy music ftw), and X-Zone was great for a true final stage.

What scares me is stuff like the first pic in Tiduz post. Sonic grinding on a single rail, big whoop... no enemies, no spots where the rail drops out and you have to jump over it, not a thing to dodge...

It's like, where's the fun? Why even give the player control if you're gonna design the game like that? I know it's just 1 pic I'm dissecting, but I'm also speaking from experience of playing the Rush games.

well there is one scene in the trailer where you see Sonic jumping from falling platforms, so maybe there is some hope that there is also a good deal of platforming.

also, I am not going to hate on Wolf Sonic yet, if he controls just like Sonic then I have no problem, it depends on how they deal with it.

I'd just rather not see one made. No need to derail the thread for it, though.

You know, what you posted before was actually really well thought out. You didn't need to delete it. I'm glad I was able to read it before you made the edit. ;) Like you said though, for the glory of the thread! :D

I'd prefer Wii get a ground up Sonic platformer honestly, built to it's it's strenghts. The Sonic HD/SR split was the right way to go last time, SEGA should do that again.

I must say I'm incredily surprised to:

1- See catchy non-rock tunes back in Sonic games (besides the portable editions)

2- 2.5D gameplay?

PLUS Sonic design moved a step back to its roots.

ZOMG! Has Sega really listened to Sonic fans?

It's obvious this game is leaning more towards Rush than the Genesis games, but at this point in time I WILL TAKE THAT. We'll hopefully move slowly backwards until Sega gets it right again.

Although during the video and my excitement I did forget about werehog for a whlie and that's the one little bit of this game that's looking like Sonic Team is working on this.

Looks like Sonic Adventure to me. Just with a bit more platforming. Don't see how it compares to Rush. Maybe I should play it more. :D

It's Sega, Wolf Sonic wouldn't be there if he didn't have a different game altering/breaking gameplay mechanic.

We've had guns, fishing, telekinesis ...what unwanted ingredient can Sega introduce to the mix this time?

Lycanthropy, probably.....you know, like Twilight Princess, but with a hedgehog. *facepalm*

Maybe it functions like Mega Mario, who knows?

Wait, I thought Wolf Sonic was going to be an enemy or something >.>

This game still seems faster than the older genesis games. They should slow it down a bit.

EDIT: Oh, it's fake?

That site now has a full retraction and apology of that bit of info about Wolf Sonic and Tails/Knuckles. It was fake.

really? Wolf isnt in?

HURRAY.

Tails knuckles not in? If they had sonics gameplay then :sadface

if they had search for the fucking emeralds then HURRAY.

First, we apologize for our fault to post those fake news about the Sonic plot and the confirmation that it would be 2D, gameplay-wise. However, we go on with our own new facts: SEGA is launching SONIC UNLEASHED with a HUGE production budget and it seems not only SONIC TEAM is involved but a very huge part of SEGA’s developer teams including those from Japan, the US and, apparently for the first time, even Europe. There seems to be one clear mission: Rebuild the Sonic brand and prove it could work in 3D environments. We also have one new artwork for you.

Holy shit? I actually believe this could work out? WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME IM SCARED.

God, I hope SEGA is following the reception we're giving to the different portions of the information revealed about this game. I doubt it though. >_>

Wait.....which pictures are fake?? All of them? Or just the werehog thing? I hope the gameplay looking pics are real, because it looked pretty good.

Where did Wolf Sonic come from then?

It just looks so stupidly bad that only Sonic Team could have come up for it. Also it ties in with the Unleashed subtitle.

Maybe Sega have been onto them "OH NOES! DON'T SPOIL OUR SURPRISE TWIST!"

I'm a huge Sonic fanboy. In addition to the pain, it also makes me completely confident of how this whole ordeal will end. This will not be pretty, I promise you.

That would be a smart decision, this is Sega. Downgraded 3D for Wii is what I know we'll see, and there will be no reason to buy it over the next-gen version at all.

the reason could be "I only own a wii":lol

I really can't see any problem if this game comes on wii too.

:O Dreamcast 2 confirmed? I'm telling you guys. Something about this just seems awfully suspicious. The A button doesn't even look like the A button on a 360 controller. More Gamecube. But it could actually be from the new Dreamcast 2 controller. If we don't start getting news before E3 on this, I will start thinking its for the DC2 more and more. If Sega can afford a production this huge, they should be able to afford supporting a new console. Come on. Say it with me people. Dreamcast 2. :D

Okay, this is my understanding of the current situation.

The pictures we've seen are all real, and probably from a PS3/360 title.

The Werehog artwork, also supposedly belonging to Official Nintendo Magazine, is an entirely different title, probably for the Wii.

This, ladies and gentlemen, could be WIN.

If the PS3/360 one is called Unleashed, it WILL have a werewolf element to it. I think someone at Sega is a fan of Canadian low budget horror films.

I don't think any of us can imagine how expensive and difficult task it is to release a successful console. I doubt Dreamcast 2 is coming, Sega should focus on being known for quality again first.
