Flashlights on phones

Iphones didn't have led flash for like 2-3 iterations though.

I think there were flip phones that did this.

It's great though when you drop shit down under the bed.

Correct. iPhone launched in 2007.

However, iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS did not have LED flash. The first iPhone with flash was the iPhone 4 in 2010.

Thank god Apple finally decided to invent the LED flash though! Otherwise where would we have been today? In darkness.

wasn't even built into the OS for a few years later too I think, whenever the bottom menu came out (ios 7?).

There were a lot of 3rd party apps though. Surprised apple allowed api access for that lol.

My W800i had a duel LED flashlight. Flip the camera cover off and press * so it was really easy to do quickly and lit up better than most of my flashlights.

The torch on my Moto G3 is so handy. I love that there's a thing where if I shake it up and down twice quickly, it toggles the torch on and off. So good.

Man, I love my Moto G3.

Still have to use a third party app (windows phone) but I use mine all the time to walk the 50 feet or so through the yard yo the front door. Really useful.

There probably hasn't been a day in the past 4-5 years I haven't used my phone flashlight.

I think the third party apps might have used "video recording with flash" to enable it. At least that's how you could do it without an app

No you don't. I can pull down my action bar and activate it from there. No menus needed.

Not really. Swipe down once on my phone, boom.

That's going through menus. I have the same setup. Have to turn on the key. Reach all the way up and swipe down and then touch the appropriate icon.

Holding a key on the phone was so much easier. Don't need to flip open the phone either.

It's a huge deal for me because I would never bother to carry a normal flashlight around all the time, but over the years I have used my phone light hundreds of times.

If I had to choose I would give up the camera to keep the flashlight.

not kidding, but beeing able to turn the flashlight on with a finger gesture on the locked phone was one of the primary things that made me get a oneplus 2

Ok, I really need to put on my glasses.
I seriously saw Fleshlight on Planes.
I guess it really does happen.

Surprisingly handy, I have a widget for mine on the second desktop. I often use it when I need to plug in or out something from behind my computer (it's dark down there).

The biggest difference from old vs new: those new power LED sure put out a lot of light. Amazing from such a tiny spec.
