Anyone who was excited about this should go watch POPSTAR instead.

Back in the day my mom and I would go to a used vhs place and pick up random movies on the cheap. I picked the original Flatliners and it ended up being a huge mistake. Kept thinking; 'God when is this movie going to be over?' while watching it. I think I even fell asleep at parts.

Saw the trailer for this new one a little while ago and just thought - why the hell would they remake that garbage? The first one was overly long too so hearing those complaints about this one I'm not surprised.

At this point any film with Sony Picture's name attached to it is a film you should avoid. There's been such a consistently terrible output from them

About expected.

Who thought this was a good idea?

Same set of geniuses that paid for the World War Z license in order to make a generic zombie movie with Brad Pitt more expensive and annoying and worse reviewed than if had just been called Legends of the Dead or The Corpulent Case of Benjamin Zombie.

It's a shame (though not at all surprising) they fucked this up.

I always thought the premise of the original was much better than the actual movie. It's sounds like the sort of film Cronenberg might have made in the 80's.

I feel bad for Ellen page, she seems too good for this garbage.

I thought this was a remake of the Micheal J Fox movie, but that was apparently Frighteners. You should go watch that instead.

everyone should go watch that movie, it's fucking great.

There is a theory that says it's a bad idea to take a beloved classic and try to cash in with a remake (like say, Robocop, or Ben Hur), because you are never going to be able to match the original. All you will be left with is a trash movie that tries to ride on the coattails of a superior movie.

According to the theory, it's a better idea to find something that seems like it had potential but missed the mark somehow, and remake that. If you can figure out what was compelling about the first movie and capture that part of it, while learning from the mistakes of the first movie and avoiding them... then that's the best way to make a remake.

Unfortunately it seemed like they failed to deliver on any of the strengths of the original, while falling into all the same holes that the first one did, resulting in a movie that's totally worthless, while failing to even keep the bean-counters happy by exploiting a popular old IP.

I enjoyed watching the original back in the day for what it was, but a sequel/remake would never be a good thing. Just let it stay the quirky antique that it is.

oh this is a remake? i saw the trailer in front of It and i was like oh hey ellen page is back, and she's in some shitty looking movie

I remember people in the theater laughing at the trailer for it. I'm sure there have been better movies tossed away that could've been better than throwing money at bringing back a mediocre movie.

One might assume a movie scoring 0% is about people staring at each other silently.

How can anything be this bad?

It doesn't have to be particularly bad, it just has to not be entertaining or interesting. But 0% after 35 reviews is seriously impressive. Not even a pity fresh tomato by some reviewer who thought it could have been worse.

Given the 0% RT score I kind of wanted to check this out and since I have a Movie Pass it doesn't cost me anything more than time... but there's nothing worthwhile to this movie, not even in a "so bad it's funny/good" way either.

Diego Luna needs a new agent

Well funny the score hasn't risen to 10-15%, but to be fair almost nobody reviewed it because there were no press screenings,

Can't wait to see its final box office

0% on Rotten Tomatoes isn't an indicator of how bad the movie is, it's an indicator of how universal the agreement is that it's bad.

Basically, there were movie reviewers foolish enough to step forward and claim that Suicide Squad was a good movie, but nobody (so far) is willing to try and argue that this movie is somehow good.

This can't be worse than Suicide Squad.

The original film was sort of corny and melodramatic, but I really love that 90's gothic aesthetic.

This new one looks like it's trying way too hard, especially with the tech and visual effects. Talk about overkill.

Suicide Squad is a good movie though
Suicide Squad was bad but you're giving it too much credit
Rotten Tomatoes in a nutshell.

Two people think Suicide Squad really bad, a third person thinks it's good, and a fourth person thinks it's just moderately bad. That means it scores 25% (three votes for bad, one vote for good).

If four people think Flatliners is just "moderately bad", then it scores 0%.

It's just a count of how many people are on the "For" or "Against" sides. It's a measure of how much agreement there is. It doesn't measure how strongly "For" or how strongly "Against" anyone is. It doesn't measure how bad a movie is.

Jesus Sony studios really can't catch a break right now

Says a lot that I saw the trailer before IT and then completely forgot this existed before stumbling across this thread

Ellen Page need to find a new agents. She is talented and I really like her but she really need to stop being casted in horrible movies. And why can't she say no?

I went into it expecting it to be awful so was pleasantly surprised. I thought it was very watchable.

Pretty much this, half way through I was wondering to myself when it would get terrible. I mean, no reviewer on RT liked it at all ? That just seems weird to me.

EDIT
It's gone up to 3% atleast.
