Really fucking hard for the general public to pick them out when dealing with gun owners. Thats why people make fun of that term because gun owners like to use it as a defense to separate themselves from the "bad ones" The point is if you own a gun you automatically have the potential at any moment to become an irresponsible gun owner.

That's also a bullshit excuse though. It's basically saying all these gun "accidents" are caused by the mentally ill which is 1) insulting to those with mental disorders and 2) bullshit. Even with mental health testing the majority of these incidents would still happen. You cannot regulate people being the stupid people they are, hubris happens and happens alot with gun owners. The problem is the "oops" part almost always happens with a life taken as the price.

They're not going away anytime soon. Regulating, educating, background checks, and mental health tests would help.
