Flower (PSN)

Don't worry. It's meant to be replayed.

I LOVE the music. It makes me feel like I'm doing something important...or at least reminds me of like...a Disney soundtrack or something.

I can't articulate specifically right now what I didn't quite like about it, other than it started to wear out it's welcome pretty early. There aren't any real definable melodies to be found (i'm a big melody person) except Lv.3's crescendo around the wind tunnels and what was there was just ....there and at times felt, not to be too harsh but came off as overally sappy =/

The rest of the game is still immaculte though. Word of advice though, don't download anything while your playing as the HDD reading screws with the cinematics :lol

It definitely feels a bit sappy sometimes.

What did you think of the rest of the audio? The sound design is fantastic.

Anyone else get a "Paranoia Agent" vibe while playing? I can't really explain it... I just kept thinking back on that series throughout.

I'm really leaning towards downloading this but I'm a little concerned about the value of it. Is it worth $10? Can you seen yourself replaying it?

Thanks.

If 10 bucks is really that big a risk then pass, but how many people have disliked it, or said it wasn't worth it? Just about none.

As I said, I think the sound design is so damn strong that the title could totally get away with having no music at all, or at least a bare minimum.

The music that IS in there tries so hard to convey/evoke emotions that the majority of time it had the opposite effect. The ambience and visuals are what drew me in the most...

Ok, question for those of you who have finished the game;

The second to last level, does the flower look as though it is still dead even afterwards? I finished the game (one of the most amazing finishes to a game I have ever seen) and thought it was odd that all of the other flowers had come back to life except the second to last.

Yea, pretty much. Don't know if it changes if you find all the secret ones, but that's what it looked like when I finished as well.

This game is incredible. I finished like 4 pots. What an incredible means of narrative. It sounds corny but this is some of the most clever game design I've seen in a while.

Amazing game. I played it with my girlfriend and she really enjoyed it. I can see myself replaying many of the levels just for the relaxing melodies.

That is supposed to look like that....
It becomes fully bloomed when you get all three hidden leaves, but it's always bent over even when it's healthy. So it looks more wilted than others, but it's actually not.

Raaah can't find
the last secret flower in the purple flower stage! The "guide" says its in a corner in the labyrintic section before the part were shit is going crazy while you're forced to move forward. Any other pointers?

Behind one of the air conditioning units. The second one...just before the Ending.

Air conditionning units? I'm talking about the stage were it rains and you have to transform those rusted pylons. Still looking for the last secret flowers in the labyrinth...

After the part with the three towers, enter the maze area and keep taking the right path and looking behind you as you do, the flowers are tucked away in a small space.

That one?

Seriously, I am completely unable to get the 'Pure' trophy. Jim's earlier advice doesn't seem to work for me at all, because as soon as the
gauntlet starts, I find it extremely hard to pull up above the first falling pylons. It's always the first two or three that hit me at least once, but after them, it's easy to cheese over the rest of the pylons.
What the fuck should I do?

Yup just found it, reloaded the page and there was this post :lol I've been looking for that so long and there I find it. Thanks a lot!

EDIT : There goes my Dream trophy!

Same here.
I've tried everything and still end up with 2-3 hits at the very end.
Very frustrating.

I managed to do get the trophy simply flying high (with the controller faced upwards as well) and never holding the button. I let the stuff fall ahead of me.

Exactly what I ended up doing. Be careful during the first sections of the level, then after the maze just fly high and don't accelerate at all. Stick a bit to the right and it should be easy, it may help to actually avoid the first set of 'speed' flowers before the gauntlet.

For some really stupid reason I can't get the "Stars" trophy. :lol It's driving me crazy, I've played through the credits 3 times now and I'm very deliberate and keep checking behind me to make sure I haven't missed any, and I still can't get it done. At least I got Pure and Dream done just now, now to get the silvers (and Stars >:|) and I'm done.

I totally didn't bother getting all those flowers in the first section. You dont need to for getting the Pure trophy. So I only got the ones I needed to go further into the level
(those under the big electric towers).

Did you get the upper row ones in one of the circular spaces? There is a stone leading to them. Perhaps those are the missing ones. It's basically where the water pools are IIRC.

100%!!! YES! I was stuck forever on trying to find the last hidden flower I needed (for like 30min) until I realized...
I had already found it on a previous play through

Awesome game.

Finished this little game yesterday. All i can say is that this game made a very big impression on me. Is it art? Is it a game? Neither of these questions matter to me. It touched and surprised me in many different ways. Level 1,2,3 and 6 are the most enjoyable for me.

There is definately room for another flower game, imo. For example, i would have loved some snow levels. Imagine flying in between snow flakes...

By the way, for those who didn't like flow, i never got into flow aswell. This game however worked for me.

Well done, thatgamecompany!

Used the cheap and easy way to get the Pure trophy. Finished the level unscathed, but no trophy.
Same problem. Follow the guides but doesn't work (
no Pure trophy for getting to end unharmed
).
Do we need to
deactivate every tower/junk?

Haha you wussies it's not that hard to speed through the falling debris with the red flower boosts.

It's easy to dodge the first falling ones, but when shit starts coming out the ground is when it gets hard, I suppose that from that point on you should slow down and go all the way up.

I have to pack my shit for holidays, then I'll have some time to give it another try. This game is addictive:D

There are three phases. The first phase is easy to speed through with the red flowers. The second phase spikes start coming slowly from all sides this one's easy to get past just take it slow and keep a high level. The final phase is the hardest but all you have to do is keep hugging the ground and going from one red flower to the next.

Yeah, I was thinking about that last night. I would love to fly over a big body of water. I kept flying over the little stream hoping for more. :lol

And for some reason, I was getting a Zelda vibe while playing yesterday. I wish Nintendo would make a Wind Waker 2 with wind blowing around me like this.

WOOOOOOOO! Finally got the 'Pure' trophy, I tried Jim's suggestion once again, and lo and behold, it worked perfectly this time around. The trick was to
let go of the boost, then angle the controller as much as possible RIGHT at the beginning (when you enter the valley), to rise up as far as possible. Hug the LEFT wall all the time, and when the current starts dragging you along, start tapping on the boost very lightly but repeatedly to keep sticking to the left wall. It won't matter if you pass through the beams that are connected to the walls in the upper regions (since you just clip through them), so keep grinding the wall (you'll need to hold the controller at a very uncomfortable angle).

Only the 10.000 trophy left then.

I really can't praise this game enough. I honestly have never been so tangibly connected to a video game as much as I have with Flower. It's such a vividly lucid experience, beautiful and haunting. Like a dream that you wake up from, only to wish you didn't. This, my gaming friends, is a captivating work of sheer genius.

Adding the element of water would be great. Imagine a big lake, sea or a swamp or flying along a river, snowy mountains, a forest,...

Just got all the trophies.

I hope they continue to support the game, maybe release some more levels on down the road, because this game is so damn awesome.

Going to be in my GOTY top 3 without a doubt.

This is the shit crazy sony fans should be praising and getting in an uproar about. Brilliant game.

Also I agreed with whoever said what they said about Nights 2. I'd love to see N2 look like this.

How long did it take you to get the Nature trophy? It's the last one I need!

After getting the Pure trophy I did a few other levels for laughs. Suddenly I got the Nature Trophy. I replayed all six worlds a few times.

Yeah, I've played a couple of them more than once. I might just whore the level with the wind canyon. Seems like there are quite a few within that section.

For those that have the "Nature" trophy; did anyone of you get it while playing a level, or was it when you finished a level (and returned back to the room)?
