Over the past year I've been watching soccer religiously, even to the point of getting up early on the weekend for BPL games ( I can't wait til next year when Fox starts streaming Bundesliga games). I rarely watch American football, like actually WATCH the game. Occasionally its on in the background while I do laundry, read, or nap. Today I sat down and watched the seahawks vs. packers game and finally realized how boring it was compared to soccer. American football just has zero pace. Its constantly start-stop with countless commercials or official reviews mixed in.

I know I'm in a very small minority in the states. All my coworkers constantly give me shit for watching soccer complaining about how low scoring it is, as if the score of the game equates to entertainment value.

I'd really like to hear the opinion of non-US gaffers on this. Do you think American football is boring compared to soccer?

Every time I try to watch football, it's either a commercial or the camera is on players chilling on the sidelines.

When they're actually playing, yeah, it's exciting, but that's only a fraction of the total time a game airs.

Soccer >>>>

You're insane

Football is more boring than Football?

But, yeah, "American Football"/"handegg" is pretty much the worst sport ever created.

Football/"soccer" is great.

Also, NFL overtime rules is wack. Game decided on coin toss. Check out CFL ot rules for something intelligent and fair.

I dont regularly watch any sports, the only time I do is when I go out for a drink. That said I find football to be the least boring. Soccer I cant stand.

You must have missed the end of the Packers/Seahawks game...

Nope. I watched it. It was "exciting" to a certain extent (if you call players making bumbling errors to extend the game exciting).

The Seahawks played like ass and they won....so did the Packers.....

I had some fun watching NFL when I bet on teams. But other than that I really don't like the sport all that much, would rather watch NBA or NHL than that if I had to watch another sport than soccer. Same frustrations with NFL as most others, especially the constant interruptions and breaks just gets me turned off.

I watched a bit of USA "football" and felt bad for ever badmouthing football, as a Brit. I'd rather watch curling.

But that show The League is hilarious! Cause it's more about USA "football" fans and their super nerdy fantasy thing that you need very little education on.

I hate how structured American football is. It's like watching someone do their taxes in sport form.

American sports in general are like that. It's more like a board game or RPG, move by move, turn based etc. Whereas our football (of the association variety) is free flow, it just happens, there's no designated plays, or countdown clocks before you have to do a certain thing or whatever.

Outside of women playing soccer I cant watch it for too long. Boring as hell to me where as I can watch football, commercials and all--all day on Sundays.

Also, the Seahawks vs GB today is what makes football the greatest sport as a lot of times it is nail-biter down to the last minute where as with say soccer, the first team to score a point wins. And what's the point of watching after that? 90 minute of running around and dropping on the ground at the slightest touch. Meh.

I've only ever watched the Superbowl games and, yeah, there's a million ads.

My understand is that isn't the norm though? I mean, usual games have more ad breaks than a soccer game, but they go way overboard on the Superbowl because they get major advertising $$$.

I find soccer incredibly boring. It always makes me sleepy. American football has its problems, but I still find it more entertaining than soccer.

Packers handed that game to the hawks.

This is actually an opinion in a post Liverpool vs AC Milan UCL Final world?

I like both...of course being an American, Football is what I grew up with. Neither of them are boring....although of course some of the games in either will be boring....

The metric system sucks. Hershey's Chocolate is the best, but I have no idea what Kinder's Eggs are. Cadbury eggs with the white and yellow cream inside are good.

To Heisenberg Lannister: Go Big Blue!!

Packers handed that game to the hawks.

Wilson is also the epitome of clutch. The kid is going to get PAID for 2015.

The damn game took 20 years off my life but considering it killed every Packers fan I can live with it.

American football is just unwatchable to me. Constant interruptions, you have more ads and replays than actual game.

There is a reason why 'carrying-the-ball-with-your-hands-but-call-it-FOOTball-anyway' is only a thing in a single country on this planet, while the real football is played pretty much in the whole world.
