For Honor alpha coming September 15th

Maintenance warning up on pc, will be down from 12:15-12:30. Guess I'll wait until then and hope it fixes some of the network issues.

Has there been any word on micro-transactions in the game? I just unlocked a new piece of armor, and it increases my stats. Hopefully you can't buy pieces of armor, I hope it's only cosmetics.

I have a blast when I actually get into a game, it's pretty addicting. Classes each play differently, quite a bit more than I expected. I laughed pretty hard when my knight was getting manhandled by a big ol' viking. Really want to keep playing more dominion, hope the server maintenance fixes stuff.

Some who got invited to the PS4 alpha got to accept terms: does your PS4 meet the requirements? What does that mean? Does that mean that the account they got invited on need to be activated as main one on their PS4? Also is the alpha on PS4 country sensitive? Because I know someone who managed to get an EU invite from someone but didn't work eventhough his account was EU.

Damn this game is fun. Just had a btawl match where my teammate died early and they rushed me in a 2v1 situation. They almost beat me to a pulp, my healthbar was practically invisible, then something clicked and I started to block everything from them, activate revenge and ultimately gain the upper hand. Man that felt good.

Played the tutorial and one match (tried to do another, but ran into network issues). My opinion comes with a package of McDonald's salt, but so far, not digging it. I think "Rise" had better combat, IMO.

I'm not enjoying it one bit so far. It looks ace (PS4), that's for sure. Singleplayer died for me the instant I fought regular soldiers. That just awful right there. I know that's not the focus but what a snoozefest.

Is there any punishment for being agro? Basically chipping away at enemies constantly and abusing guardbreak yields the best results, it seems. (talking about multiplayer)

I never played PvP in Ryse but I'd rather replay the campaign of that than FH's campaign.

I'm no pro gamer, but I've been playing games for over 2 decades, and I do alright.

Maybe it's too early to tell, but in a couple of matches I played, I found this very good right up until you actually get online and play with people. At that point it becomes a terrible, frustrating mess.

The whole point of the game seems to focus around stances and defending/attacking with them tactically.

Even if I waited to find a player who was previously engaged and tried to pick them off, every time, someone else would show up and I would be dead in under 5 seconds. You can't defend against 2 people. Different stances to consider, stun-locking (sort of...)

It's just over the moment a second person engages.

And I know 2 should always beat 1, but in other games sometimes you culd still get a hit off on one of them and kill one of them. In this game, the second someone else shows up, you might as well set down the controller.

Is anyone playing on PS4? Because I've been trying for the past hour to even get the Private match thing to work and all it says is "Only the group leader can start matchmaking."

People need to get used to the fact that this is approaching fighting games level of depth and difficulty. Your not gonna pick it up and be able to take on 2 people in the first day you start the game. Its deeper than that.

Totally agree with what you said. Why can't I lock on the soldiers? I know it's probably so it isn't hard to lock-on the actual knights/samurai/vikings, but still...going up to soldiers and just randomly swinging and missing several times is dumb.

And Rise multiplayer was meh. But if FH had the combat of Ryse (misspelled it the first time) and good multiplayer, then I think that would be a fun game.

I get that. I don't want to dominate 2 people if I come across them. I'm saying, every time I encountered anyone, even a 3/4 dead player who seemed alone, if I engaged, another player just kinda showed up behind him or next to him out of nowhere and I got my shit pushed in. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

I lost every encounter ever. Always.

I get that 2 should beat 1. But if you constantly are outnumbered for whatever reason (bad teamwork, whatever) it's just a frustrating shitshow.

2v1 you can either play super defensive until you get revenge mode (it's Y on Xbox, Triangle on PS4) or just run back to another teammate (you should be able to outrun them as very few people will have +speed on gear right now) and then turn around and fight. Even without those though, smart positioning and quick reactions will give you a good chance against 2 lesser skilled players. But no, you can't just jump into the game and expect to be able to 2v1 right away. It'll take time to get good at this.

Yes, there's counter-guardbreaks and a stamina bar as well as combos setup with parries/counters. People will get better at the game the longer they play and realize they won't be able to spam attacks and win. People are only getting away with it right now because others don't know how to play yet.

Honestly, I don't think that that is the problem. It's not fun, partially due to its' lack of complexity.

I don't really understand how this is a game, it feels like a tech demo for a combat engine or a f2p mobile fighting game or something. I hope there is more in the final game because this is just boring as hell.

In 3 matches, I never was able to outrun the 2 players. I would roll, or try to sprint away, but just get caught in their slashes. And I'm not sure how one plays defensively when you are being attacked by 2 people with different stances swinging wildly at you. If, in the chaos, I can even read their stance icons, I can only choose one stance to defend, and the other person gets free hits. It's just not good.

For Honor has far better combat than Ryse, wut. It's not even debatable, in the very least, For Honor has a much more complex system than Ryse. It's more like a fighting game.

If you block at the angle facing the enemy you aren't locked onto it'll block them no matter their stance

No. When fighting two people you only need to block one of their stance attacks and it will auto block any other attacks. So if you have two people spamming at you all you have to do it block one of their attacks and then your Revenge meter will fill, allowing you to turn the tides. Its in the tutorial.

I'm positive I selected PS4 but happy they at least let me try it on PC.

I'll give them nice low end player specs on my GTX 660. :)

Installing now.

Did you watch all the characters' tutorials? Cause there's definitely depth

I didn't watch all of the characters, just played the tutorial. I'll go back and try it.

It's NOT like a fighting game. Show me some *actual* combos (not shit that you just string together and call a combo) and we debate. Also, the game is slow AF; no fighter is this slow.

Ryse had flaws, but it did have a strict sense of timing. FH negates any sense of skill by just having you block with pushing in a direction. Timing? Nah, just hold the stick in the direction THAT THE GAME IS TELLING YOU TO HOLD IT IN. Not-debatable, my ass.

This game is like a fighter, I mean I've been playing a few hours, but I'm doing unblockables, mixup , wall techs, keep away games, etc.
Edit: I mean come 1v1 me, show us your gameplay.
