For Honor Twitch Event Feat. Khal Drogo, Maggie from TWD and more!

And people were against this type of promotions... Laughing my ass off at some of the interactions between players. Demetrious Johnson is pretty good.

Yea this is pretty entertaining; its def not as "cringe" as some people thought it would be. They chose fitting celebs for this event.

I told my brother (who never watches Twitch) that Demetrious Johnson is playing For Honor. My brother is a huge UFC fan and For honor was slightly on his radar. He immediately tuned in, and is about to preorder it.

Some might not think celebrities work, but anecdotally speaking it can make people take a look when they otherwise might not. I'm sure there are thousands of similar stories

This event is definitely a success in showing off the fun and potential of the game. Well done Ubisoft

Wow, Mighty Mouse has some skills. I was expecting all the celebrities to be flailing around like it was an episode of Clueless Gamer, but some of them actually seemed to know what they were doing. Good on them!

Like most fighting games, as long as casuals are playing casuals it'll be fun. The moment a casual runs up against someone that actually knows the counters/combos/weaknesses of all the characters(even if he's not very skilled), it's game over. Just the nature of fighting games.

Which is why this game is not being marketed as such even though it is 100% Fighting Game. They are trying to get that hype and sales up front for a reason.

DJ's a big fighting game fan so I figured he'd take to it quickly.

Yeah, I chuckle every time Vandenberghe calls it "a shooter with swords". Don't wanna scare the masses away by telling them it's "a fighting game with shooter elements".

love me some mighty mouse!

He would be a boss at Dark Souls.

I agree, matchmaking is key. If a Bronze Dota/LoL/HOTS player goes up against a Diamond, the same will happen. A gladiator WoW player is going to grief a fresh lvl 100.

Yeah I get a hearty chuckle at how hard they are trying to bend genres to sell it. But marketing has to do what marketing does to get people to buy it. The game would be fun for a lot of people imo.

I still know very little about this game. How deep is the combo system? When I've seen gameplay previously it seemed like the same combos and finishing moves over and over.

Move strings are limited. Characters have like 3 or so strings usually, and most don't naturally combo. There's more moves outside those strings though, and parries, deflections etc. If you're going to frame the game as a fighting game, it's very very combo light, and more reaction+spacing dependant.

Combined with Guard breaks, feints, parries, dodges and actual attack combos, there's a decent amount of variety and skill involved.
