For those of you who have pre-ordered: How was your Switch Pre-order experience?

When are retail stores taking pre-orders? Like, not through online.

EDIT: Seems like this morning. Bummer. Hopes of getting it at midnight are slimming.

I really can't afford this thing :(

I woke up at 8:30ish eastern time and preordered on Target.com. I went to class shortly after and my wife was kind enough to go to Gamestop when they opened since I was teaching. That way I could get it at the midnight launch. She ended up being 6 in line and got there 15 minutes before they opened. They strongly suggested she preorder games but I'm going digital mostly so I told her not to bother. Canceled my Target order after she got that.

I woke up, Amazon was sold out so I ordered it with shipping from Best Buy. I don't live the kind of life where I can go to a midnight opening during the week unless it's summer and I'm not working.

Looks like some preorders opened again at Best Buy for store pickup just now, I put an order through so we'll see what happens.

I was second in a line of two at my local gamestop. The other guy pre ordered the grey one, I preordered a neon one. They had more than twenty launch day allocations of both. I'm friends with the guy who rang me up, so my experience was very good.

I wish amazon had put them up at a sane time so I wouldn't have had to use a personal day today to get my preorder in, but I'm enjoying the mild weather and the chilled out day, so it's not like it was a waste.

I'm fully paid off and locked in for launch day. Can't ask for much more than that.

Pre-ordered another pair of neon joycons, and zelda. Bomberman wasn't available for pre order yet.

Smooth. Walked into the mall 30 minutes before Gamestop opened. Waited patiently. Walked right in as they lowered the gate. Preordered immediately. Got the first one.

My brother got up early this morning for work and ordered 2 from Best Buy for instore pick up, only down side its a Best Buy about 25mins away when there are 3 much closer to my home. Only one that had both versions still up at the time.

Got a shipping order in on Walmart.com and an in-store pickup order on Best Buy. Then I got the Master Edition Zelda shipping order in on GameStop.com and a backup normal edition Zelda on Amazon. I was really hoping to order the system and Master Zelda from Amazon and use the others as backup. But, it looks like I'm stuck with my backups being my main orders now.

Woke up, grabbed phone and browsed to my go-to store. Put item in basket, checked out and was done.

Silky smooth

I ended up pre-ordering on Best Buy since Amazon didn't have it up yet. Waiting some time, then Amazon had it available, so I got it there, too. Will cancel the Best Buy one, but gonna wait a couple of days...just in case. Fairly smooth experience.

No problem here. I put a preorder in at Best Buy when they went up after the presentation. Then when I woke up later at about 4:30am, had it up so I preordered from there.

Gonna wait a day or so before I cancel my Best Buy preorder though, just in case something happens.

Personally I am not going to pay for an online service that only gets me one nes or snes game to play each month when MS and Sony are offering multiple games each month and in MS case a 360 game that is yours to KEEP even when you end your subscription each month.

I'll play splatoon 2 and Mario Kart 8 online for free until they start charging most likely. Then I likely won't touch it. I don't pay for xbl or psn plus. So I certainly won't pay given what this offers.

I was up til 2AM trying to get an Amazon preorder for BoTW Master edition. I had gotten a Best Buy preorder of the switch in begged then but when I saw it available on Amazon I couldn't help myself, already cancelled the BB as soon as Amazon was confirmed.

Stayed up until 3am waiting for Amazon to open pre-orders. They started like 15 minutes later after I had already gone to bed. Amazon can fuck right off.

Yes and the single month price is 2-3x that

I want to be respectful here, because you deserve it, but aside from your math being exaggerated, do you plan to decide which months you have access to the online features of the Switch, or would you likely get it a year at a time? One of the advantages of the "X month" cards is that you can easily find them in the $35-40 range (several times a year, in fact).

Why is this distinction important to you? You went out of the way to say it was considerably cheaper, but in basically every meaningful way, it isn't. It really comes across as you clinging to a technicality.

I went to Gamestop at about 9:30, ended up being about 20 people in line but my store had 40 preorders available so everyone got one. Traded in my Xbox One (RIP Scalebound :( ) and got $150 just for that, along with my Xbox one games and the games that are getting early switch ports (Disgaea, Lego City, Mario Kart) and ended up with $250 total. Not bad!

I'm thinking if the regular monthly price is $5 a month then Nintendo will offer similar yearly offers for even less.

Are people trying to justify the switch online price? You have to chat through a paid phone app I think that refutes any price for their online being justified

I can understand that theory, but you realize you said something basically inaccurate because you want something else to be true. That's why you're getting the reactions you are.

Preordered around 4am EST last night when I randomly woke up on Gamestop.com

Went on my lunch just now to Gamestop and was able to pre order, they are getting like 70 units. Manager said store wasn't crazy because everyone is at Nintendo World.

Cancelled my online pre order. Everything been calm and easy so far.

I just pre ordered at a local store, no problems nor issues

Also, I live in mexico, so... there are usually no issues with pre orders here

Walked into Gamestop in Brooklyn a few minutes after 10. There were maybe six people ahead of me?

The only drag was that there were no pre-orders for Pro Controllers or the regular edition of Zelda. I ended up pre-ordering Zelda for store pickup at Best Buy.

Went to target.com, and there it was... waiting for me =]

But my pre-order for Zelda Breath of the Wild Master Edition tho . . .

Pre-ordered at best buy for in store pickup. Hopefully come the 3rd of March I will be able to walk in and pick it up.

Well that's if I decide to go ahead and purchase. I was bitten by the Wii U
