• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

For those of you who have pre-ordered: How was your Switch Pre-order experience?

I was against pre-ordering due to weak launch line up (aside from zelda) but I said fuck it and pre-ordered at gamestop.

Easy as shit. Co-worker told me it was on Amazon. I went there, put in cart, logged in, checked out. I'm probably going to cancel though. $300 is too much when Mario won't be out for a while.

Mine was glorious. The one dude at gamestop is really cool and said call Friday morning, called bout 9:55am and he said the line was huge. But he then proceeded to just put my pre order thru along with zelda via my gamestop cc before they opened the doors, very awesome. Gamestop employees can be really cool when you get to know them

Easy peasy.

Walked to GameStop across the street from where I work and preordered two. One for me and one for my little sister. They want $50 deposit btw.

Guy said they have 30 grey available to preorder, didn't check the red and blue.

Chrome auto refresh extension on amazon. Went to sleep. It played orchestra music indicating the page changed so I rolled over and clicked preorder and went back to sleep.

All in all 9/10 would go to sleep and roll over to preorder again.
Link to the extension?

I actually ended up pre-ordering two consoles. One for home, one for the office. The first order via Best Buy was easy. I then went to order the second on the company card, and it was sold out. Found one on Target's online store shortly thereafter. Seems like stock is getting gobbled up pretty quickly.

Master Swotd Edition AND Switch still up for preorder in Australia. Ebgames (get in fast tho).

I got mine in the split second ot went live but yeah we got it pretty easy here.

Pre-ordered on Amazon Germany. Straightforward.

Grey had sold out, so got red/blue.

I'm on the fence about getting one at launch, but saw pre-orders were selling out, so thought I'd grab one - I can always cancel it later.

This is me. Saw Wario's tweet, checked out, not sure I care right now and it doesn't seem like it will be tol hard to come by

Even being prepared for $300 it still disappointed me.

Best Buy. I pre-ordered and put it for in-store pick up. Easy. Really wish I could have gotten it on Amazon, it would have been nice to get 5% back. But oh well.

I'll just get a vanilla copy of Zelda that day and maybe Bomberman. I would like to see if I can get those on Amazon and save with that Prime discount but I'm not seeing Switch titles up yet. :/

That Gamestop trade in offer was too good to pass up so I traded my Wii U and 3 games. Got $289 trade in credit so it basically paid for the whole thing. Honestly would not have preordered though if it wasn't for that trade offer.

Given the launch games and price, I am going to imagine you'll be able to easily get it on day 1 without a pre-order if you live in a populated area. It will sell out, but it will be closer to the Gamecube and Wii U launch than the madhouse that was the Wii launch.

I remember for Gamecube, I got to the Gamestop early on the day of and they got only like 4 units. They had a raffle for the people there and I lost. But then someone said Toys R Us had some and when I went there I found they had 200+ and I got one easily lol

I ordered gamestop cause I already have a few hundred dollars of store credit. Console only was sold out at 9:05am est. So I preordered online the Red And blue joycon bundle with zelda, 1 2 switch and Freeloader Heroes.

Super easy. Opened up the Amazon Canada app at two minutes before 9am and preordered a Grey one. Twenty minutes ago I preordered a Neon one too. Cause I can't decide which color I want lol.

dead easy. 1-Click on Amazon, shipped to my new apartment in March. no running to preorder before selling out or anything.

I did it as I took my morning shit right before work at 4;27am on amazon. Will see what happens between here and launch if I should cancel it or keep it.

clicked a button, got a preorder

I am 99% sure I won't be keeping it though because they have 0 games with a confirmed release date that makes the cost worth it

I preordered on Amazon last night when orders open, and my mom waited outside of GameStop for me today for backup and got my order in, but she said she got there at 9something and didn't ask me what version of Zelda I wanted until 15 minutes ago so I assume she waited for a while. Amazon was nice though.

Preordered the neon one at best buy pretty easily. Online to pick up in store.

Then it came up on Amazon, black only, which I don't want but I get cash back at amazon so I preordered it there.

So I have two preorders. Not sure what to do with that. Will cancel one, just not sure which one yet.

It was pretty smooth. I got two orders in (was going to cancel the back up one, but turns out a friends wants it.)

Also got a pre-order in for Zelda Master Edition.

Easy. Wast first at my local Gamestop, the clerk didn't even know that the conference was today.

They had no official stuff up yet even, all the games were just Switch 1, 2, 3 etc...

But if they are taking lots of money, I will change my pre-order to other store, where they are selling Joycons for 30€ a piece or 54,99 for a pair... Seems like a cheap palce, those are too just placeholder prices.

Maybe we get updates next week here in Finland...

I was really lucky. Pre-ordered from Amazon UK on my way to work this morning on the phone, 7am. Then pre-ordered from Amazon US a little after 8am (UK time).

I can understand that theory, but you realize you said something basically inaccurate because you want something else to be true. That's why you're getting the reactions you are.

I don't really see comparing the base monthly prices to each other and saying one is cheaper is inaccurate. I guess I could have been more clear since others were operating under different assumptions?

Got mine last night at Best Buy, used up some reward certificates I had. Got free release day delivery. Done and done.

Any advice or help with thus would be appreciated actually. I have one preordered but I'm in Australia and f*ck the pricing here for the Switch. With that in mind I was considering importing from Japan via play Asia since it's region free (And much more reasonably priced in comparison) but I'm not familiar with what to expect from that in regards to things like system languages for example. I don't speak or read Japanese so would I effectively be stuck be an unreadable system for me or have the Japanese versions of Nintendo systems in the past (WiiU and 3DS) had English as a system language option.
