For those of you who have pre-ordered: How was your Switch Pre-order experience?

Got my pre order in. Then started to really examine what I was getting for my money.

I honestly don't feel like I'll keep my pre order unless Nintendo reverses on digital subscription. Otherwise I'll wait for the inevitable price drop and bunduru down the line.

Went to my local gamestop at lunch and secured a preorder for pick fairly easily. They said 18 others stopped in before my friend and I.

Naturally I was curious how much stock was allocated to the store. They said they're getting 60 black and grey switches and 20 neon switches.

So it seems like nintendo's prepping well for this.

Any advice or help with thus would be appreciated actually. I have one preordered but I'm in Australia and f*ck the pricing here for the Switch. With that in mind I was considering importing from Japan via play Asia since it's region free (And much more reasonably priced in comparison) but I'm not familiar with what to expect from that in regards to things like system languages for example. I don't speak or read Japanese so would I effectively be stuck be an unreadable system for me or have the Japanese versions of Nintendo systems in the past (WiiU and 3DS) had English as a system language option.

honestly until we know how the region free works, i wouldnt import one

Waltzed over to Gamestop during lunch and pre-ordered it with BoTW special edition without minimal effort. Now the wait begins

So far so good, pre-ordered at Best Buy shortly after the show. No hassle as of yet.

same, was worried but got it in soon as they opened, i'm picking it up a few minutes from my house

amazon Zelda master sword LE was a lot more stressful, haha

Why do so many thread titles sound like stealth marketing/survey queries?

Easy as clicking a button on amazon for my friends that got it.

I was on Max's stream when someone announced it was available on Amazon. The link wasn't live yet, and then I got a notification from both Wario's twitter and saw the thread on GAF, preordered a Switch and Zelda Master Edition.

Easy peasy.

Pre-ordered on Walmart.com, but they said shipping would take a week after launch.
Best Buy preorders open, so I switched to that, keeping my walmart order, just in case.
Amazon preorders went up, cancelled my walmart order, and might keep the best buy order.

No issue getting the order in at all, though I was in the first batch that put it in within two minutes of the listings going live. I have totally mixed feelings about what I'm actually going to get out of it. The launch window is thinner than I assumed they'd allow, and the titles for the first year I'm most interested I bought versions of on Wii U.

Preordered at BestBuy.com after the show for instore pick up.

Waffled and canceled this morning for a variety of reasons. Waffled more and replaced a preorder with them, with home shipping this time (it wouldn't let me change my instore pick up preorder to shipping was part of reason I canceled) as pick up at my local best buy tends to be slow even when it's not a big product launch day. I had no interest in picking up at midnight either--too old for that shit.

I'm still skeptical, but I want to support Nintendo and play the best version of Zelda so I won't waffle again. Just going to deal with no pro controller or charging grip for a while (cost of those was driving factor of canceling initially) unless switching the Joy Cons back and forth between the comfort grip and tablet drives me nuts, then I'll just use Gamestop credit I have for a pro controller probably.

Got a Neon unit for store pickup right after the show which will be for my partner. Ordered a Grey unit, and both Zelda LEs last night on Amazon.

Ordered Zelda after the presentation on Amazon. Got to GS at 9 and there was no one there. Went to Burger King to get a sausage biscuit and a coffee, came back, no one there. Sat in my car and ate while listening to the Giant Beastcast. Hatched some Rowlett eggs in Pokemon. No shinies. No one there yet. At 9:55 I get out and stand out front, big fat dude wearing an NRA shirt and open carrying a gun in a holster comes and stands out front too. I thought about asking if he was there for a Switch too, but didn't. We go in and order Switches. I ordered a grey one, but could not get a Pro Controller. Gun dude seemed OK. Said he was a big Nintendo fan.

I checked Target on my phone after I woke up, around 7:45am. They showed 2 versions, the red/blue one (eww) and the gray one. I didn't see the reveal last night so i had no idea if the color one is special so I added that to my cart. On checkout it said not in stock. Tried the gray one, it worked.

Looked at the reveal video. Mario is probably gonna kiss a human princess lady.

I hope this thing shoots up in value on eBay so I can sell it.

Went to the local Gamestop on my lunch break and pre-ordered a red/blue console. Not sure if I'll keep, but I'll let them hold 50 bucks to decide whether I want one at launch or not. May sell if it runs for a decent markup on eBay due to shortage.

so gamestop is giving an extra 75$ in credit for pro rewards members for trading towards a switch. since i recently got a ps4 pro, i am planning to do this and trade the og ps4 towards switch but turn around and return the switch on launch day so i assume i will get gamestop credit? can i use that credit to purchase any amazon or psn gift cards?

It went smoothly. I was able to talk to a bunch of cool folks while waiting in the line-up at the EB Games location at 457 W 8th Ave in downtown Vancouver, and pre-ordering the Grey Version of the Switch (with and a copy of Breath of the Wild) was painless. I also got a free 8-bit Link amiibo, which I'm going to use for MK8D and BOTW.

Nintendo UK.

I was about to shut down my PC after the Treehouse stream ended when I noticed I had an e-mail. Took me straight to the website and I was sorted in about a minute. A few more minutes work for games and extras in a separate order. Got everything I wanted.

Biggest disappointment was the BOTW UK 'Limited' edition, just the CD and statue.
I really wanted the US 'Special' edition with the map and soundtrack CD, but no such luck. I didn't want the statue, so went for the basic version and will try to pick up the other bits off e-bay.

How was the experience? You click the item you want to order, check checkout and proceed :). No issues with Amazon or the Nintendo store. Just like anything else you buy.

got pre-orders easily enough through Best Buy. picking up at store. wont have to worry about being home when fedex inevitably shows up and i'm not there.

for whatever reason i can't get fedex to route packages to a fedex store. i can re-route UPS and USPS though just fine.

Best buy had preorders online starting about 45 minutes after the presentation. Preordered for in-store pick up and was good to go by midnight.

Am I crazy late to be trying to pre-order this thing?

I'm amazed I can't find it online. Figured I'd be fine to wait until I got off work today to do it...

Also, Amazon doesn't seem to actually notify via email when things such as this are really available...

Should be on the official Nintendo store. I picked one up 30mins ago and cancelled the Amazon order.

Preordered on Amazon last night, but I don't think I'm going to keep it. Really planning on just getting Breath of the Wild on Wii U and holding out until Nintendo either does an inevitable 3DS style turnaround with this thing, or exits the console business.

I tried Amazon this morning, but they were all gone by the time I got to it. I eventually pre-ordered through Target, but I didn't have an option for release day. I kept trying Amazon until I finally got lucky, ordered at Amazon, and then cancelled my Target order.

All in all, a bit more difficult than I had wanted but it all worked out.

In the U.S. at least, all the major online retailers seem to be out of stock. Hopefully this bodes well for the Switch overall. I'm sure more will free up in the days to come as people cancel orders. I have an extra one through Amazon in case Gamestop tries anything shitty with my in-store pre-order. I'm hoping everything is good as I was literally the first person at my store.

So, is it sold out everywhere now?

I checked before I went to bed last night and it wasn't available for pre-order yet. I just woke up, it's a bit after 6AM here, and it looks to be sold out everywhere...

Looks like I may have to try to hit the Japan pre-orders since it's region free now.

Pre-ordered last night at Best Buy for in-store pickup after the conference.

Stopped by Gamestop at 9:50 this morning on the way to work, first in line to pre-order there. 4 other people showed up as they opened to do so. They're getting 23 consoles and limited numbers of the Red/ Blue version.

Pre-ordered on Amazon when they became available again today and cancelled my Best Buy order because I didn't want to drive up there for launch.

Same situation (sorta) - I work early mornings and figured I could check at 2pm today and find something. Absolutely nada.

Guess Nintendo is still into the artificial scarcity business.

Saw the GAF thread saying Amazon preorders were up, added to cart and ordered with zero issues. I can't believe this was easier to secure than an NES classic

Went to the EB Games @ Eaton Centre here in Toronto. Got in line around quarter to 10 (store opened at 10) after striking out online at 9. Was about 18th/19th in line and it was a relatively nice and quick process. In for a Neon+Zelda. Disappointed by the console but I'm a sucker for anything Nintendo.

Getting the preorder in was easy. I got on at Best Buy but then I cancelled it in favor of Amazon. Didn't have any issue getting either.

Everything went fine. My only concern is that Amazon didn't have the color options. Hopefully there'll be a way to update my order in the mean time because I want those weird neon joycons.

Because there is healthy margin and an ecosystem to generate further profits.

NES Classic was a cheap toy with low margins to drum up name recognition and get collectors and retro folks excited. Turned out to be a bigger audience than intended, but still pennies compared to getting a Switch install base.

I live near a smaller Gamestop and I arrived 5 mins before opening. Only like 4 or 5 people waiting outside the store. Very easy, you might even be able to secure on your lunch break, but who knows.

I remember the Wii was actually pretty easy to secure too but I had dealt with a bigger line then, but it was also in a popular mall.

I just hope that Best Buy didn't overload the pre-orders since I went with their shipping option.

I have the same feeling. I didn't pre-order until around 6:00 AM and there was no option for in store pickup within a decent traveling distance,so I chose the home shipping option.

I'm really not happy with Amazon's system of randomly opening preorders on things. I missed the first run of the console last night because they decided to do it at 2am for some reason.

I called a few local Gamestops today, and was able to find one that had slots for the Switch left. I wanted the Master edition of BotW, but they literally sold the last slot on that one to the guy in front of me when I was there. I will keep trying Amazon for that one, or potentially settle for the Special edition if I can do that, and if not just get the normal one.
