For those who have played Sleeping Dogs DE

In your opinion, is it worth the asking price of CAD $45?

I played a chunk of it on PS3 (PS+ free game) and I loved certain aspects of it (the night time environment with traditional chinese folk music playing in the background made me fall for the atmosphere).

I should mention it's the PS4 version I'm interested in.

I absolutely love Sleeping Dogs but I think you would be better off just finishing that PS+ version. I played it on both PS3 and PS4 but I only got the PS4 version because it was $30 USD. I'd say wait for the price to go down if you really want to play the definitive edition. I don't think the extra content will make it worth $45 CAD, especially since you can play a version of it free anyways

hum, it's a good game and if you want to play the game you can buy it, the definitive edition is prettier and that's about it, it's still a great game and perhaps the best deal considering that it comes with all DLC

i want to play it again now...

Gotta' find something else to play now that The Order flopped, eh?

wow i mean i'm ok with cream (god rest his account) and his ahegao faces but that avy is just too much b

Play the PS3 version.

What?

I had the original version on PC with almost all of the DLC and I got the DE for 15 euros or something with all the DLC that I didn't have, it was a good deal and the game looked better. Especially after the first patch when they activated the true high resolution textures.

Hoping you dont get banned over an impulse control failure/need to insult the order, but for reference, dont insult random games in threads they have nothing to do with, else it's hard to stay on GAF. Best of luck >.>

Edit: Andd hes gone.

Wasnt it a terrible port with huge framedrops etc? Or did I make that up

There have been reports of framerate drops (how massive, I am not sure) but the overall visual quality looks substantially updated from PS3/360 version.

Good knowing you

The PS4 version has a few drops in frame rate but still playable.

Is it comparable to the PS3 version in greater scheme of things?

Haven't played the Definitive Edition but assuming you are only going to purchase it on PS4, yeah sure, why not. I played the PC release for over 30 hours total.

A lot of the DLC is trash but there's at least two or three ones that actually add new missions and plot lines and stuff, they're kind of cheesy and ridiculous but also pretty fun.

Great game that fits in the $29 price point better than at full cost. there is a lot of game there but you've already seen it no need for full price.

edit: fwiw I went from PS3- ps4 and the difference is massive

I'm intrigued by this version as well. I deleted my ps plus version when this got announced thinking it would be the best way to play. I've heard it doesn't run the best and that it's not 60fps which sucks. Still interested but only at around $30.

Way better than the ps3 version in both performance and visually

Just expect to see some frame drops over long play time.

Ah thanks.

The game went on sale for $40 on PSN 3 weeks ago (which I didn't pounce on) free of tax. An additional $10 on top is quite the ask as of now when the CAD isn't as strong as USD.

I platinum the ps3 version (got it from ps plus) and i recently bought it for the ps4 because better graphics, performance, all the dlc and it's a great game.

It's a good time. I've been casually going through the game for the first time on PS4, the frame rate is pretty disappointing but its not unplayable or anything.

It's most noticeable during driving sequences, and when there's a lot of enemies on screen at once

I got the art book packaging one for like 40 USD used from eBay. I think it was worth it

I thought it was a pretty good port, the graphics felt a good upgrade and FPS seem solid (except when using reverse or sometimes when driving mostly). But overall the issues didn't ruin my experience and felt more stable than the old gen versions.

Really enjoyed the characters and the story, just a shame it seems there might be no Single Player follow up in the near future.

I wouldn't pay more than $10-15 for the DE version if you have/played the older version, the visual changes are minimal and the story is all the same. Since the PS3 version got onto PS+ I wouldn't be surprised to see the PS4 version on it sometime this year.

Triad wars is the "sequel", not sure if its coming out on consoles but I played the PC beta a few times and its pretty awful, more like a facebook game than an FPS. Really janky controls, terrible visuals, minimal story, and mostly seems cash shop driven. I believe its going to be f2p too.

Sorry for the offtopic but as a Junior Member I really need to know this, when you guys say "Banned" are ppl banned forever? Or the banned members just can't use GAF for X days/weeks/months?

For Junior Members it's the former. For regular members it's the latter, but they can still be permanently banned if the offence is great enough or infractions are recurring.

You should probably review the TOS as a precaution.

I think when a Junior Member gets banned they're banned forever. Otherwise it depends on what you did to get banned.

Why is everyone here freaking out that someone called the order a flop, which it is a review flop. But it's ok to call the MCC collection a flop- which it also is?

Played it on PC due to a really good Steam sale. The visuals are a definite upgrade and I noticed some new police side missions that are worthwhile. Great game to begin with, made even better with upgraded visuals. It's still worth at least 30 dollars US. I don't know what the equates to in your currency.

It's insane the digital version is still $70 CAD on the PS Store...

BTW, I was sure it was down to $40-45 at Target before the -20% or whatever that went into effect today so if you are going retail, you could maybe get it for $39 or less by now. Also curious about anyone that played both the PS3 and PS4 versions extensively because I will eventually get it but I'm holding out for a digital price decrease because so far the improvements don't seem worth it. I'd buy at $40-45 maybe if I heard better things about the framerate.

Thanks man!

I only asked because most of the forums I participate in uses different terms for this kind of stuff, "travado" (blocked) when it's temporary and "Banido" (Banned) when the decision is final, then I got confused hehe.

I bought it for the x1 and it was a hot mess. Honestly annoyed by it. But at least the story is entertaining. I read that DF said it also had problems on the ps4. I would say if you have the game already don't get it until it's like $10

I think it's a thread derail thing tbh. I'm sure you can call the order a flop elsewhere if you want lol

He was deraling the thread and not answering the ops question with an off topic remark.

Just like what you are doing right now.

Welp.

Anyway, even tho the PS4 version could definitely use a bit of spit and polish, it's still a better experience than the PS3 version visually. If you want to play through the game and the PC version isn't an option, the PS4 likely won't disappoint.

I got the platinum trophy for both versions and I gotta say, the PS4 version is laughably buggier than the PS3. Game crashed on me a few times, radio stations would never play without manually turning it on(and it started on the same songs every time), the "denser" traffic is pitifully low, the framereate dips constantly (not by much, but it's frequent). Graphically, as far as my memory serves, it's the same thing, with probably some minor improvements that nobody but a Dev could even spot. The only true improvement that is notible is the resolution, but with all those bugs, it's not much.

I rented the game and for the dlc, it's worth renting to check out again. But I'd never buy it for $40 if you can already play the PS+ version. If you can, you're better off getting it on PC.

Can we agree that Wei Shen is one of the best main characters from last gen and now this gen?

Also, I love how they left most of the character models alone but "upgraded" Winston's teeth. Looks like he has oversized veneers now

I liked wei but the story was just the same as true crime. Not surprising since this started off as a true crime game

I platinumed it on both PS3 and PS4. PS4 version would be worth the asking price if you didn't already have the PS3 version. It looks nicer, but not very much compared to other up ports, and it has some bugs. (The worst was when it crashed for me several times during the Year of the Snake DLC. It also crashed a couple of times at the title screen and there were a few hilarious instances of enemies and cars getting launched into space but those are less of a big deal.) Just play the PS3 version. Game is excellent anyway.

Haha, no worries.

I haven't played it either this yet. I will probably buy it on steam but I'm not sure the difference is.

The definitive edition includes most of the released DLC, some visual upgrades and some tweaks to background objects. The developers also made some of the DLC more integrated into the game progression instead of magically appearing and tweaked the cash drop DLC.

If you want to play just the base game, the current Humble Bundle has the original version at the $15 tier; along with many other Square Enix/Eidos titles. Note that the original version has been pulled from the Steam store, only the DE version is purchasable, so this is the only way to obtain it. However, the DLC for the original game can still be purchased on the Steam store if you want to go the bundle route.
