Lol, they threatened his family didn't they? You hate to see it.

Kidding asside, nice to hear it's not entirely hell on earth in game's development.

I disagree though. He is no longer at the studio, he has no responsibility to the studio anymore. If 343 is a disaster he has every right to tell people that, however he didn't. His actual words weren't very negative at all, only his honest opinion on certain things. Why do we expect people to only praise or only rag on something?

Actually, you still have a responsibility to not just the studio, but all his previous colleagues, even if he no longer works there to be careful with what he says as it could be taken the wrong way, or creative unnecessary headaches for the team. These are people, after all, they can see some shit and become demoralized from it because they're still working the game and still believe in what they're doing. To use a more extreme example, you can't work on a major AAA then leave and then reveal major plot points or details regarding features in the game. He didn't do these these things, but to say he has no responsibility to the studio is stretching. I think he's even currently at a major studio currently supporting 343 with Halo, which makes the initial dust up over his comments potentially worse.

He could still have legal obligations to 343. Employment contracts typically have confidentiality and non-disparagement obligations that continue indefinitely after termination of the employment contract.

Yeah, nah. Cats out of the bag. No point in curtailing to the outrage crowd or getting sweaty in a legal sense, won’t help.

Seems like a nice guy, from what he’s saying there my hopes of them making something new is zero.

Why on earth would you expect/want a studio built from the ground up to maintain Halo to do something else? Weird.

And as ever it’s been clear for the past few years the pendulum has swung way too far the other way on outcry over crunch. What we have is a bunch of lazy assholes who will never work on something they care about get incensed over things they have little understanding of. Because they like playing videogames and being socially conscious. Actually i’m not even sure these people like videogames anymore. They just never grew up and its all they know. It’s like a civil rights movement pioneered by deluded autistic people who have nothing better to do because they have never worked a day in their lives themselves.

It must fucking suck being a talented developer working on something you are passionate about. You aren’t allowed to celebrate that now for fear of armchair socialists saying you’re part of the problem. There is no creative pursuit that doesn’t take sacrifice. And these people get overtime. Fucking sick of hearing about it.

Sounds like Uncle Phil contacted him. That's not what he said. Almost any of it lol
Still trying to create a new spin that fits.
There's always at least one more reason...
There always is one more reason about who is conveniently wrong and who is right when you are fishing for stories for the next gen thread.

New spin? Did you see Halo infinite gameplay? It was delayed for a year. They've lost 3 creatiive directors. I think it's time to admit Bungie is long gone and 343 isn't it. That's not spin. It's called the truth.

I don't think anyone is denying that Bungie is long gone. They haven't touched Halo since Reach, which was 11 years ago. Regardless of what development struggles 343 has had with Infinite, there is no way to know whether the game is good until we actually play it. There are two ways to look at the demo from last year. One is to say it looked horrible and continue prophesying how horrible Infinite will be once it releases. The other is to admit we haven't seen much of the game, and the one complaint that everyone had at the time (graphics), 343 has had an extra year to go in and work on it.

Same energy as when people hoped Microsoft will close Xbox division after reading the Epic vs Apple threads.

If you and all your peers call a cat a dog a thousand times among each other, that does not make it a dog. You ignore a developer's(who has left 343i) testimony about the game's development, calling him out of being contacted by Phil or under NDA. You then post about of the what he must have meant that you hoped is the truth positively reaffirming with your peers many times repeatedly validating each other. You then tell me your spin is the "actual truth".

Lol....Sounds like Microsoft came after him with lawyers. He probably signed an NDA before leaving the company but spilled the beans.

Say what you will of 343i, but the results kinda speak for itself. You don't get stuff like Craig without some kinda of misfunction.

At the end of the day, as a gamer, I hope they can make something competitive, not just with past halo games, but with games in 202- whenever it comes out.

You don't have to. But its a logical assumption that many are making on this thread. I've seen this countless of times in my career. What this individual said was damaging against the Halo Infinite ip.
Next are you gonna call yourself a public figure in gaming?

"5. He is very upset at being misrepresented about the crunch - he clarifies that there wasn't a constant crunch. People just want to do the best they can and often spend more time than is necessary working on a project."

That is literally what happens in almost every case of "crunch". Or did someone think that the CEO is flogging developers and threatening to fire them.

People just want to work more because they love it and they get paid extra for it. I know it's difficult to understand for people that hate their job though

or in the case of REEEE

people that have no job but like to make judgments on those that do
