Forza 2 pics and a car list

This is what I've been on about. Much better. Add some reflection to the rims, because they look too flat right now.

I understand that the Forza guys had setup the lighting for a late afternoon look, but it was too flat and there was no contrast in any of the original shots, so they just looked off.

I think it's quite easy to tell you completely missed the point :lol

Hey look, it's cank stoochie in a Forza thread!

And zaptruder.

It's like a typical gaf PS3/GT thread in here. :)

The improvements that others have made to the lighting helps the cars. I hope that Turn 10 takes a look at these and improves upon them. That said, Che, when are we going to hear about some more of the customization options and nice things like the physics engine?

It been pretty calm though.

So Che, is the lighting the wya it is because its the same track in all of the shots?

Yeah, pretty much. Maple Valley's lighting just has that effect on cars.

Wait until we release screenshots of cars on Nurburgring or Silverstone -- much higher contrast on those tracks.

We're going to go into the game's other features pretty soon. Next week we should be announcing some pretty cool stuff.

I can't wait. Maybe some online tidbits??:)

Not more realistic, IMO. It's too dark, just like GT. It's easy to make games/movies look more real by making them darker but it's hard to make things look real and bright at the same time.

CheSpace looks like your on the Forza team. Can you tell us roughly how many cars their will be initially? Will it be all high end super cars or will their be a balance. I preferred PGR2 car list to PGR3 because all the performance levels were covered. And seeing this is going be a simulation game I'd hope all types of cars are included.

Nice color adjustment up there. I will definitely forward that onto the team.

I dunno if it's possiblye, but a gears of wars-ish option between looks would probably be for the best.

I'm interested in the engine swapping possibilities. I want a game that will let me recreate the cars Toyota was too soft to produce themselves:

... fantastic car list; they'd look better in GT though.

Oh well, it'll be a great tideover as long as its released soon.

I think it's good that they're in the better playing game that's also tons more fun.

The All-Trac is missed... indeed... BUT, the Altezza, they are creating a higher-end sporty car now, the Lexus IS-F... 390hp from a 5.0L V8... supposed to compete with the M3... Not a 2.0L Turbo mill, but hey, Toyota's trying... then there's all this talk of a new hybrid Supra, hope they don't mess it up... Hmm, wonder if this game with have the Lexus LF-A in it? The Evolution X prototype would be nice... and the new Skyline GT-R finally coming stateside...

But yes, toyota needs to come out with something fun, make that, somethings... they need a couple exciting cars... outside of the prototypes, it's snoozeville... I'd long for a new All-Trac (GT-Four overseas)... and a new Supra whose engine lives up to the bullet-proofness that the 2JZ-GTE had...

EDIT: Ooops, just saw you were pointing out that Rod Millen modified IS... then maybe the new IS-F is to your liking... when I see "Alteeza", i think JP 2.0L Turbo version of the boring IS300 we had here...

Back to the Evo X that SHOULD be in here... *cough cough*

Glad you're on the same page J-Rzez =) Yeah, I did mean the Rod Millen 'IS430' with the VVTI 3UZ-FE. Fensport's 567hp AWD converted Celica is a beast also, ran 10.56 at 139.24 mph! I hope we atleast get an ST205.

The IS-F would be hot, and like other 2007/8 cars like the new Evo, WRX and GT-R, it definitely belongs in this game.

We need some hard-topped, stripped out SC430 love too =)

i'm flattered : )
i don't know what are the tools you guys are using, but i suppose i would try reducing the "diffuse" value for cars surfacing.
They absorb too much ambient light right now.
Also, i did some colour balancing to add a little blueish tint to the car, which i think looks ok in this pic, but it probably wouldn't if we could see the sky in the pic (which i believe isn't blue for that track)

Did they drop volumetric grass? Just curious. It looks good though. Like Forza 1 I actually like the style of the graphics.

Answer this man! Considering a lot of race tracks have nothing going on except for grass and asphalt you'd think developers would take any chance they could get to spruce the environment up a bit.

I hope it hasn't been dropped for performance reasons or I'll have to lower my expectations for next gen racing games all over again. :(

Great work Eso! Che, you definitely should show this to the guys in charge of the visual aspects of the game. He made your screen look more photorealistic simply working on the colors...

I don't think darker = more photorealistic, but that's just me... GT HD looks great in screens, but in motion I don't find it so photorealistic at all.

argh I can't wait for this :D already playing the original in anticipation!

Love the other light shots guys, hopefully something like that will be implemented but either way it looks lush :)

Oh we're making requests now are we? Oh well can I have my car in the game then?

I know the hatch was in the 1st game, but I want the sedan in there dammit.

I loved Forza and I am playing it from time to time to this day.... this draws me to the Forza 2 threads like a fly to the pile of shit these threads evolve into every time. My take on this is:

- Judging a game from stills that is all about motion is kinda pointless
- They evolved an engine from a game that looked nice a year ago (PGR3)
- Forza is a flagship franchise for MS, they are not going to release it when it is not ready (meaning: framerate issues or other problems)
- The first Forza was a great looking games, most common complaints were: 1. Enemy KI, 2. 30 fps, 3. Art style. number 2 is being adressed, 3 is a matter of taste and number 1 is a problem almost ALL racers have and there is no telling what they did in that department from screens
- Forza is a driving simulator. It's all about realism. Who in their right mind thinks that they will do a worse job than in FM? If you want realism, you are going to get that in spades, like in the first title.
- Once the game ships and you still OCD about the graphics, you kinda miss the point of gaming imo.
- What is the last 'big' 360 game with bad graphics? 99 Nights? PDZ? Programming is no witchcraft. There is a certain standard established in that department and I don't see how any game in the future will stray too far from it (be it 360 or PS3), apart from the low budget titles.

I think that Forza 2 is using a new engine, or an engine based on Forza 1 - not PGR3. Maybe Che wants to clarify?

some of the shots you guys are posting have waay too much contrast. Your losing too much of the details. Dunno....I just think they are putting alot of red/magenta in their shots. Like a cheap old photograph.

Anyway in good tradition here is my crack lol. Done on my calibrated monitor at work...just removed the red and reduced the gamma a little.

Are the cars using occlusion mapping? It looks like it, but maybe it could be made stronger/darker? I think they get too much lighting from the sides and from below, and maybe a darker occlusion could increase the global-illuminated-ness.

As for the contrast enhancement, I'm sure they haven't turned tone-mapping on yet. That surely does a world of a difference in creating the "next-gen" appearance.

Or the 3SGT-powered MR-S? :D Only in the JGTC. :( PEACE.

Quoted for quality. That looks insanely good, as does the first photoshop of the porsche. If its such petite things that can be altered by you guys, then they sure as hell better realise that these small adjustements can make a huge difference.

Btw, regardless of the colour/lighting changes, I think it looks great.:)

As far as I'm concerned graphics are just icing on the cake. I'm in it for the driving, not for looking at details. That being said I do think it looks fine, and 60 fps is great to have. This is 99% certain to be my game of the year, unless something major happens to make it worse than Forza 1. I just can't see what could be released this year that could top this for me. It's impossible for May to come soon enough.

New shots.

Not sure how I feel about these. They look really COOL, but not all that realistic. We'll see it in motion tonight, most likely, so that should give us a better taste of what it actually looks like.

Forza show on speed tv at 11pm. They're doing a real life forza sorta thing where they give 6 drivers cheap cars to start out with and they race to win credits to upgrade their cars. Actually sounds like it should be really cool. It's on at 11pm (Eastern time I think, though it'd be cool fi someone could confirm it's eastern time).
