Are you using MSAA, FXAA, or a combination of both?
It'll transfer seamlessly so you can just pick up and play.

Yes, your progress will carry over. In fact stuff from previous Forza games will carry over as long as you're logged into the same profile on PC.
On the first screenshots it's MSAAx2 with no FXAA, on the second it's whatever the game autodetected. You can't adjust it after that without losing those settings.
I swear the X1 build is much better looking than those screens.

I loaded up the game again and set everything to Ultra, bumped up to MSAAx8, enabled FXAA, and then changed my resolution to 4K (which sampled back down to 1080p due to monitor size and all that).
And this is those settings at native 1080.
Aren't these taken in Photo Mode? Photo Mode adds a lot of post processing that isn't in the game. My screencaps are mostly all just pressing print screen while in gameplay (which is why I'm running off the road in most shots).

Yea, I aware of this and have been using it to share games with my brothers for quite a while now. Before "Play Anywhere" though, Windows 10 didn't pay any attention to where you were playing the game from across any of the 10 devices, so you could actually play on multiple of them simultaneously. Now (at least what I've experienced with Recore) it'll only let you play from any one of these devices at a time. Which is fine I guess, as it was ridiculously lenient before, and would probably just result in no major publishers wanting to put their games on the store if you could have 10 "family members" running around online with a single purchase.

Sorry if this has been asked, but has Microsoft ever said whether their exclusives will be released on Steam? I know there was a quote a while ago that was basically something vague like "We here at Microsoft recognize that Steam is a great storefront", have they actually announced any plans or timeframe to bring their games to Steam? This is the only MS exclusive I'm kinda interested in until that Platinum game comes out, so I haven't been following their PC stuff too closely, sorry if this gets asked a lot.
I don't think anyone knows definitively.
I'd guess that first party games like Forza and Sea of Thieves will not come to Steam. Third party games published by Microsoft have a chance though, like Quantum Break.

It's because photomode looks better than the actual game in motion. You can afford more costly effects when nothing is in motion. Yer comparing in game screens to photo-mode shots.

Not only it takes more than half a day with my connection, I can't do anything that needs internet because I can't throttle the download.
Guess I'll ask for a refund until the store is fixed.

You can try Netlimiter, I think they have a free trial and it lets you throttle internet traffic per application on both upload and download.
Left my PC running overnight trying to download this, noticed before I went to bed that as the download went past 20GB, the RAM usage was creeping up constantly. As usual, it appears my machine was being battered so much by the Windows Store that it's rebooted and lost all download progress.

My download is so far so good, about 5gb in 1.5 hours which is a hell of a lot faster than Forza 6 Apex which took me ~14 hours to download @ 18gb.
I don't want to jinx it though, think I'll leave my PC on overnight and not interrupt the download...I've got it preloaded on the Xbone just in case. Aussie internet yo.

So is the store just borked? I cannot for the life of me get Ultimate edition to pre-load on my PC. The download just hangs at a certain point and never resumes properly.
Stuck at 8 gig... then delete and try again... stuck at 24gig... rinse and repeate..stuck at 42 gig. Nothing helps.. restarting PC, disconnecting, reconnecting, wsreset....
Considering a refund a at this rate won't even be able to play this weekend. Anyone have any tips in relation to this?

I did the store update before I started the download, i'm not sure what the problem is. I can't believe there's no way see where you downloaded it to like steam. I have Apex downloaded but I can't find those files either. For people that got it to work does it say it's downloaded or just manage under the games section?

So fixed my issue by rolling back to my pre anniversary upgrade build and then using the media creation tool to upgrade again. All necessary updates are now downloaded and I'm on the current build.
Preloading as we speak, can't wait to get my hands on this.

Store patch hasn't helped, memory usage is still constantly creeping up. Really stuck now, I've bought a game I can't even install. Times like this when I remember why I moved away from PC gaming.

Left my pc on all night, just woke up and checked it to find an unresponsive black screen (also happened when I downloaded Apex) had to turn the PC off via the switch. Now the download has started again. How can the store be this fucking bad?

Aw man, these store/Windows issues are putting me off ordering the game altogether. Full RRP plus the possibility of a failed 50Gb+ download is not that appealing. I'm thinking I should wait until they (possibly) fix it.

Seems I was lucky and despite Windows auto-updating while I was asleep, I woke up to 47/49gb downloaded. Now to hope I'm not stuck in the never ending download loop lol
This store indeed is a total shit show. Had lots of issues with Quantum Break downloading/patching and it seems the problems just got worse. It's beyond me how MS could fuck this thing up so badly.

edit : Will try get Apex as a stress test for downloading. If it fails I'll steer clear for a while

Mine I has downloaded fine, its a shit service as it hated being paused, Left while I went to work yesterday.
The high end games section needs to be managed separately away from the main store. I never had a problem with Apex, I am waiting for Quantum Break to released on steam.

I was hoping I could share with my wife so we could play co-op like we used to on our xbox ones (her's was my "home" and mine was hers but me signed in) but it's sounding like for PC we are stuck getting two copies. I wish we knew for sure because it will be brutal come Monday when it doesn't share, and I get stuck downloading it all over again for her under a new account.

Nope definitely getting a refund now. I've been downloading 3 times now. The last time it crashed was at 41gb. How in the actual fuck can't Microsoft get a store right, for fuck's sake. I'm not asking it to shit unicorns just to download properly. Such a great game hampered by a useless store.

I really feel sorry for people having problems with the store. I couldn't say a bad word about my experience. Fast, smooth and painless.
My copy of Rise of the Tomb raider on the W10 store has self-corrupted like 3 times for no foreseeable reason since I bought it, requiring a full redownload each time of like 50GB. So, the same will probably happen with this game even if you manage to download it the first time.

Do you have to do anything to trigger the preload?
My preload started the moment my PC booted without any notification. I played 2 hours of Overwatch and wanted to manually trigger the preload and found that it already downloaded 40GB in the background.
You can check by opening the Store and search for the game. If you preordered the Ultimate Edition, click on the base game on the page.
