Forza Horizon - Fall 2012 - Developed by PlayGround Games

"roadcount" seems low indeed. If you look closer it seems OK I guess? Lots of long roads for sure.

edit: Comparing it with the TDU map is hilarious, so many small roads in TDU. Hm.

Sometimes, I wonder, do you ever come up with anything positive in this thread?

Yes, I am one of the people who is absurdly interested in this game and I would like it to be the best open-world driving game possible.

I do not see why do you imply I brought anything negative in this thread?

Actually Amar is very good with being unbiased about his racing games. He just loves the genre and will speak his mind when there is something that doesn't seem up to snuff. And in this case, he is actually right. Even though I am chomping at the bit to play this game, the number of roads does seem very small. I guess we won't know for sure until we can run around them ourselves, but I know I expected a lot more.

Don't want to make too much of an open world when they can sell you more and more as DLC ;)
If they can't release ONE basic fantasy DLC track in FM4 I doubt they'll bother modelling any additional environments for Horizon. After all, its cars we want. Hundreds upon hundreds of fucking, fucking, fucking cars.
(Unless of course extra roads are already complete and have been surgically snipped from the finished game so that they can be sold back to us as 'additional content' for extra money. But no developer/publisher would do that, because it's naughty).

Maybe the map that we saw, is actually smaller, and unlockes with dlc!?

For 4000m$ points, expansion DLC should be map, big atleast as the initial map with porsche.
If porsche is in that DLC, then T10 is really making us look like idiots.

Anyway looking forward to FH

Video/Interview with Ralph and some offscreen footage.

So monthly car packs, an expansion pack in December, and most important THEY SHOWED THE INTERIOR VEIW AND HE DIDNTHAVE THAT GOD AWFUL WATCH ON! But then in the next shot you had it on and Ralph said the character has a cool watch.......

I'd pay 500ms points to ensure i dont have to see that watch in my life, the anti G-Shock pack.

I was only having a laugh, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case (the map is bigger, but being held back for DLC) but with the emphasis on Forza Car madness, why don't they just put the 200 in, hold back another 500 and take a pick to release as Car DLC and put the odd new one in there with the 'iconic' ones. hmm.

I'm not too worried about the size of the map until I actually play the game and get the feel for how big it is though, variation would help of course and it seems like it's got enough. (yet to see the snowy mountain Rockys though).

Map size is definitely putting me off. They no doubt made this game after the feedback of people asking for a TDU-like game with Forza physics, but they're kind of missing the mark here a bit with a game that seems less than 1/5th the size of TDU. Maybe maintaining the graphics levels of Forza took a hit on how big they could make everything, but its pretty disappointing when we're not really getting what we wanted, especially with all this kind of corny 'festival' stuff. I guess I'll have to try it out before judging too much, but my hype for this game isn't quite what it was, thats for sure. I'm hoping that these people praising the physics are telling it true as that will go a long ways into making this game worth buying.

I'm on my phone so how many roads does it say are in the game?

As long as it's bigger than NFS: Hot Pursuit I'm fine with it. I didn't even like the game but I liked the size of the world.

Oh shit son, imagine the kerfuffle if the environment DLC was a 50kb file that unlocks content already on the disc!

I don't think they will do a 'EA' but if there are plans to expand the world, you can bet its already made up ready to go.

Any word on what this DLC expansion may be Helios?

Sorry guys, lips have to remain sealed for now.

Hi friend, im a huge fan of Forza and a big supporter of Turn10, i have bought every game and DLC of the past 3 games, i hope its not the case but i would like to point out that i wont buy any DLC cars for this games that comes from Forza 4, i wont pay for cars that are already done but were cut.

I have spend hundreds of dollars in the franchise because i think your games are awesome and the DLCs are very good, great content at first prices, must of all you dont rip off with locked contents, i hope that doesnt change, as long as you keep in that track you guys will get my dollars :) (and recommendations)

But that's why they are selling expansions on addition to car dlc...

As you are here, I have not seen this proper confirmed, but I can roam around with a buddy freely if I invite him or her? Not just races/events?

Yes you can, here's a direct quote from Turn 10 Design Director John Knowles when asked about free-roam.

There is a free roam online mode where you can invite all your friends and you guys can just do a roadtrip together or whatever you want to do… the free roam is pretty much just making up your rules. It’s undirected play.

The hell is this? These are not the usual "new car in same location" screenshots. Pre-order canceled.

E:

Helios, two years ago, when you worked for Codemasters, you got the art director to tone down the "piss filter" in F1 2010. Do you think you could do the same for this game? Pretty please?

Is there a definite summary of what this game actually is? What the main objective is and what you'll spend your time doing? No time to read 38 pages till the weekend but im dying to know.

Is there a story to complete or is it purely against other online people, or even a mixture?

Edit: the summary on local game retailers websites here just say Forza 4 on the open road lol

Unless I misheard, I'm a bit surprised they're committing to monthly car packs right out the gate.

Not sure how many I'll pick up given that I bought almost every one for FM4, but I suspect Horizon's packs will have more emphasis on cruisers, convertibles, and off-roaders. I'm interested in what December's expansion pack will bring. More events or roads, perhaps, but if the only way EA will let us have Porsches is as paid DLC, I'll huff and I'll puff indignantly, but then plunk down the cash. There is no Forza without Porsche. :(

One thing's for sure, though, far from being merely Olympic-sized, the car pool Turn 10 can draw from for FM5 will be large enough to park an oil tanker. Or two.
Tracks will be sourced from a 3-ft kiddie pool.

Watch the token system video shinnn posted it gives a good explanation of the offline mode.

The Eurogamer article implies the race against the plane is canned, didn't Dan deny such a thing just a few days ago?

He mentioned 'smoke and mirrors' but I feel if these set pieces are little more than an interactive cut-scene it'd be a terrible waste.

I'd like some difficult challenges, something to work at, the most frustrating challenges in GT like the Vettel/X1 are the most rewarding.

Won't it just be a time trial against the plane? You don't actually race against it as such, just try to beat its default time (which I'm guessing is the same every time you race it). There's no jockeying for position, for example.
Or do Eurogamer mean there's rubber banding going on?

I think passing a checkpoint triggers a fly-by, it may be possible to lose but a narrow win by the player is probably the usual outcome.

Watching the video you can see the grey dot of the plane flying on your map. I think it's a time attack, because the turns are not that extreme and you can assume how long the average driver would take plus difficulty level to set how fast the plane will finish.

I think I've heard "Gamers into Car lovers and Car Lovers into Gamers" a million times now, I cringe and laugh at the same time... but he's got it down to a T now.

Epic.

Ha, thought I was gonna have to watch close for the bug..

Can't wait to drive these roads. No Hud, No silly pop ups or silly music and just cruise in the open road from day to night.

I wont be able to get enough of those fireworks and Hot Air Balloons lighting up whilst driving along.

Ralph can Excu exx Excusively reveal - The 'Espansion Pack' will extend what Forza Horizon means extend the experiances, challenges and gameplay.

I'll take that as just more things to do around the current world, rather than an expansion of it.
