Forza Horizon - Fall 2012 - Developed by PlayGround Games

Well putting everything on the table, 9 looks ok from 200 cars. Maybe 15 would be a better number, but more than this is taking too much content from the car list.

I keep forgetting this game will not have the same length of previous Forza's.

Yeah 10% would be nice, it's just that I am a cruiser and love the find stuff that's not on maps. It's a bit silly to be cynical with the DLC stuff and judging the game by numbers like that maybe.

I bought Forza 4 Season pass and i think it was very good, but it offered 33% of discount and 1 free extra pack.

For Horizon i think the Season pass looks simply like a horrible deal, 17% is nothing and if i dont like one of the carpacks means that i didnt save any of those 50 usd. Also only 6 cars per pack sound very bad (unless the cost 400 msp, which i doubt). Finally theres the possbility that they release Forza 4 cars.

All of this make Forza Horizon DLC like a bad deal, i dont think i´ll buy any of it which it sucks for them.

The weird bit about the barn finds if I understand them correctly is that you can't just stumble upon them by exploring the world. From the interview videos I've seen you have to listen to the in-game radio stations, which will drop clues to where you can find one of them, and until that message is broadcast that barn find doesn't exist.

Its a weird system, and makes me wonder how or if it would still work if you don't listen to the radio or use a custom soundtrack.

And one last bit from me on the season pass stuff - I think its pretty obnoxious but I have no problem avoiding it. The core game itself still seems worth it for me and is the game I'm most hyped for this year. I can understand if it sours others from getting the game though, or gives them more incentive to wait for an all-in-one version down the line.

Wow that's assy.

Why would people on the radio talk about barns? The logic behind that makes no sense.

Now I can see you talking to an old guy at the festival, who says his buddy has a barn out in wherever, and that triggering the barn to appear.

That F12 is looking good; I was expecting it as DLC for FM4, but it makes sense to hold it back for the new game.

Until they fix the oil pump on the '13s, Horizon might be the only place we Yanks can drive one, lol.

Awesome. Look how low to the ground this is. That's a pet peeve of mine for the MC12 GT1 in FM4, it's not nearly as low as it should be. It looks like the street version. This, looks great!

Why so no low? Downforce baby, real one is scraping the ground over bumps.

I mean, Need for Speed Most Wanted developed by criterion sounds excellent, but how many cars will be in that game? 20? Maybe 30? Isn't Horizon supposed to have 200 right out of the box?

That basically makes the decision for me, Horizon first, Need for Speed second.

MC12 Corsa? Very nice.

It hasn't been around since FM2, right? Should make for a good counter to the FXX and Zonda R.

Even games should have some kind of logical consistency. The bigger issue to me isn't how the message is delivered but the idea that the thing does not exist until someone tells you about it.

I just assume the barns will be there but not open until the discovery is made on the radio. Then you get the car for cheap or free because the old couple doesn't have internet access or know there's a car festival on so they could have a lucrative auction. Poor kindly old people, always taken advantage of.

My plan exactly.

So you prefer cars over anything else? You know T10 are reading this thread and thinking "I knew we were right, consumers want more cars! FM5 to focus on two tracks and 5000 cars."

If that happens, it's your fault.
I'm in it for the physics first and foremost. I actually want to shift gears and use the brakes too.

Honestly, what would disappoint me the most is if Forza 5 isn't on the next Xbox and if it's being released next year on 360. Actually, Forza 5 being a launch title for the next Xbox would be pretty rad. That would also allow for 5000 cars and maybe 2 more tracks than in Forza 4.

1500 cars and 30 tracks would be pretty damn great for Forza 5

That AND incorporate rally, snow, mud, dynamic weather, time of day, a better sense of speed, longer and cleaner races (AI improvements and etiquette), basic racing school (techniques, etiquette, rules), coach and tuner AI helpers that set a base tune for your ride and then make suggestions as you run test laps (adjusting camber/ratios, or just advice on technique), named corners, track mastery AND car mastery (think shift but with cars as well - max speed, perfect drift, etc), track descriptions and history, car descriptions and history, a better breakdown of stats when browsing cars, car+track leaderboards while racing on a track w/ friend's times for comparison, live tuning, a better track day simulation and provide players the ability to create their own events that still count as campaign progression.

That's all I want from Forza 5 ;P

For everything else: free roam, weather, exploration, Top Gear, stunts and car culture, I want to look to Horizon.

I'd also like cars unlocked for one game to be available in the other (when possible), making DLC a no brainer for owners of both series.

If Forza 5 doesn't have half of what you listed that would be pretty questionable on Turn 10's part.

The impression I've gotten from Horizon is that it's basically a proof of concept for the different types of racing that could be implemented in FM5. Night and rally being the big ones.

I'm sure when they start showing off the game properly, people will calm down.

They just need to change tactics here and start pumping the game up a little more frequently. There's too much time in between reveals and such for people to question things.

We'll see what happens at that event...

I think Horizon is a cool game, but whatever :)
Not what I meant. I know it'll be a good game, but it also acts as an opportunity to see how well certain types of physics and features (ie night racing) work without the fear that they'll be breaking 60fps in the process.

Eurogamer starts today at Earl's Court, so there should be a flood of media over the next few days.
(I went last year and it was hell on earth).

Just a reminder, tomorrow 4pm UK time(5pm CET/11am ET/8am PT) livestream of the developer session with Playground Games Ralph Fulton from the Eurogamer Expo. And if you miss it, don't worry it will be archived.

Here is also a new interview with Turn10's Jon Knoles.
At the end he nearly let it out ;)

Not sure what I find more striking - a $50 season pass, or an expansion pack a month and a half after release. I don't necessarily have a problem with it. It's just shameless and unapologetic.

I don't think it's bad to have expansion pack out soon as it keep people interested in the game. I didn't get Mass Effect 3 DLC because it had been so long since I finished the game and now I just don't really care to play it (also the same with Skyrim DLC). I think there's a small window after game launch where DLC / expansion pack is viable to help extend the game and not sending it to used game bin.

As for $50.00 season pass, coming from someone who is old enough to remember paying $14.99 for Test Drive 3 expansion cars pack back in 1990 I don't know why it's such a shameless thing. I clean out my garage couple weeks ago and found two of my old Falcon 2.0 expansion packs. The first consisted of 10 missions and another one was just re-skin and re-tool F16 into Mig-29. They still have the receipt inside the packages from Software ETC. and they both came out to over $40.00 with tax).

Personally I think content we get now from today "expansion pack" have far more value than back in those days. The cars in Forza are highly details and with full cockpits, also with Forza Horizons they have to also model night time dashboard.

Also if the game is too expensive there should be plenty of deal coming this holiday, heck even Microsoft store is giving you back $10.00 along with 1600 Microsoft points just to pre-order it from Microsoft Store.

This game is such a freakin tease for me. I want it so bad and there are so many things that get me hyped, then these small things come out that bother me.

Open world Forza - That's good!
No tuning - That's bad
200 cars - That's good!
Only 9 barn finds and have to listen to radio to find them - That's bad.
Dirt roads, free ways, mountain passes - That's good!
Crazy expensive Season Pass - That's bad (for me right now, no $)
Awesome videos that make it look insanely fun - That's good!
The frogurt is also cursed. That's bad.

Still stoked. And if anyone would like to help with the OT, I would love it! I am not amazing with PS and would love to have some help.
