Forza Motorsport 5 Review Thread

I'm pretty sure that there's some sort of $50 DLC planned, but I'm not certain what exactly you get for that. Additional tracks and cars, spread out across a number of months, I guess.

It's greed. Pure and simple. Shameful. :(

Oh man, can't wait for the meltdowns if drive club scores higher. Microsoft won't be able to use their "highest rated racer" quote anymore. Lmao

I might explode if I see this comparison one more time to call out any kind of journalistic bias.

OK, listen. I have a PS4, and I'm at least a year away from picking up an Xbone. However, I played quite a bit of several Forzas on 360. It's a good series. I am in this thread because I like Forza, and want to read talk about the new one.

You know what's NOT a good series? Killzone. Every single one of those games suck. "Putrid shit" is being kind. I actually bought the new Killzone for my PS4, because I got it on a deal and thought why not. I hated 2 and 3, but maybe they got some actual game designers over there for the next gen entry.

Nope. You spend the first hour of Killzone Shadow Fall's campaign
wandering around an empty factory.
The multiplayer has no functional voice at all and the maps are just bad.

Forza is the best racer on Xbox, and they are lucky to have them locked as an exclusive. I don't regret my choice of PS4, but I do wish I could play Forza 5 at home and not have to go to my neigbors'.

Sony would do everyone a huge favor and never make another Killzone game. I traded my copy of Killzone Shadow Fall for Madden, a game I already had on my 360, but I wanted to check out the next gen improvements. That is how little I think of Killzone Shadow Fall and the future of the franchise as a whole.

Rant over.

Yeah i hated the single player too but the 1st hour comment and multiplayer complaint is flat out wrong

Huh, visuals look a lot better than I thought they would. The lack of tracks however is a concern, its the ome thing about forza that has always pissed me off, the reliance on so many shit American tracks that eat into the already low track listings.

When and if they sprt that out, i may considered an Xbox One for this game alone.

We all know its a solid game but micro transactions are huge no for me and I will not support this bad practice.

It is the one thing I hate about the series. Even in Forza Horizon, where you have to buy the ability to fucking fast travel, lol. But the game itself is still amazing and I just ignore all of the tokens and car packs.

Are people here trying to downgrade forza to meh game ?

Sure they didn't add weather or night racing but core of game is realistic racing.

Laser scaned tracks + updated physic model is most important part of game.

In an ideal world yes but they could just have no DLC at all as well. I hate DLC and the whole model but it is your choice to buy it or not. Its not like tons of games this gen haven't gone down the same route so its a bit unfair to single out Forza, especially as the developers have said multiple times its lack of time.

Poor argument

You need to post a picture of you name on a piece of paper with your PS4 and GAF in view so we can validate your opinion of Killzone.

LOL. I was going to edit my original post to be less, ah, flamboyant, but you guys are too quick.

Questioning game scores is one thing. But what really annoys people is when someone uses a review of a game in a completely unrelated genre, but because we are talking two console exclusives, that it somehow makes sense to use the reviews to prove journalistic bias.

It is beyond irritating. Forza seems to be a legit good game, and that a fan of GT/Pokecar type games would do well to pick up. Questioning the reviews of that game based on what somebody gave a Sony exclusive just SCREAMS sour grapes, and that the opinion of the person making that comparison should not be taken seriously at all. In those cases it is glaringly obvious that it is the person comparing reviews that is the one with the agenda, not necessarily the person doing the reviews.

Its an Xbox game so it must suck to some people, just ignore them and enjoy the game yourself.

Did anyone actually read the Polygon review? No mention of lack of content, the awful sounding grind system, microtransactions, drivertars sounding particularly bad yet it got a 9. How the hell did Gies come to the conclusion that the game is a 9?

Because Gies writes whatever Gies comes up with. The man has no professional integrity. Just think of him as the average junior with a megaphone taped to his face.

The Edge and Eurogamer reviews make this sound like Forza Motorsport 6: Prologue.

It's disappointing, though if you're already picking up an Xbox One it's almost certainly worth getting this as well (for the great handling and new trigger rumble), it just doesn't offer a reason to pick up an Xbox One in and of itself.

I'm always suspect when mainstream media review niche or sports games. Do they play them for long? Do they have the experience to know good from bad? Or do they drive around for an hour and pick a safe score based on the franchise history?

U can say this for any genre dude

Going to enjoy the hell out of it regardless :) Looks good!

I swear gamers don't play games to have fun anymore.... Its all about dumb review scores and how well shit sells. It's pretty sad...

Oh so it was Gies? Excuse me for expressing myself in this way but the guy has NO consistency in his reviews. Forza looks like a fantastic game but I still cannot get over the 5 he gave for Killzone:SF....

Hates Killzone, double dips on Madden. Yeeeeeaaaaaaaaah.

Night driving with a good soundtrack in PGR3 was my launch highlight for me, sucks that I wouldn't be able to recreate that.

Sessler makes this game sound like the second coming of Jesus. Here's hoping it's not all hyperbole, as this is one of the few games i'm interested in getting an Xbone for.

All of which leaves Forza Motorsort 5 in an awkward position. It is a great racing game and a technically impressive launch game, but it’s also one that feels miserly with its content and positively underhanded with its microtransactions. Drivatar also has much to prove in terms of being a genuinely desirable feature, rather than just a technically clever one.

Obviously there will be a Forza Motorsport 6, and probably sooner rather than later, but it can only be hoped that it addresses these issues head-on instead of just making the graphics even prettier.

7/10

Seems like a waste of the number 5. I applaud them for bringing a sim racer to a console launch, but PGR would have been a better choice. Why would I buy an Xbone to play this when Gran Turismo 6, a complete game, is right around the corner?

Sessler is to hyperbole what Van Damme is to epic splits.

So the consensus seems to be that it looks and controls very nice, but is missing lots of content and features from previous Forza games and it has a bunch of monetization built in that can be off-putting to those not comfortable with micro-transactions.

lol MAYBE because forza you can play a nextgen version of it, while gt6 you will play a rehash on same old hardware?

The conclusion in Edge rebuts this statement perfectly.

"By comparison, this launch-day sampler will seem awfully limited, far from the hoped-for victory lap impossible on prior hardware. After all, it seems limited by comparison with Forza 4 now."

Reading trough some of the reviews, as a sim racer, I can only come to one conclusion; I still miss Brian Ekberg. Sir, you are probably reading this thread, but it is a sad day that years after you left Gamespot, there is still not one reviewer that stepped in to the void you left. For a game in the sim racing genre as a reader I'm hoping for more than a paragraph of mostly general "it feels great" statements, but unfortunately that's still all we get.

Hope Garnett got a chance to play (review) it and talks about it on this weeks weekend confirmed :(

well, in my eyes it is very profound that the reviewer doesnt know SHIT about what makes this game..
so I could not give less fucks about his opinion ;)

the only bad thing, the thing that sticks out about forza, is the STUPID AND GREEDY DLC POLICY.
(60% dlc price increase since f4, 9 out of 10 cars in first day1 dlc batch pre-existed, unannounced track passes OUTSIDE of 50e car pass, etc)

now, I understand many will find opportunity to say whatever, but that is not my concern. let t10 do their own damage control.
I'm just one of the stupid fans that will buy everything they put out. again!

I agree, I don't see what some people see in Killzone. It's one of the worst console shooters in my opinion, every iteration has sucked. I have yet to play Shadowfall yet but I'm sure that one is terrible too.

Surprisingly, some people like things you don't like. Weird isn't it?
