Fox News mocks Canada's Military

It offends me when the people belittling the Canadian military, or the military in general are usually civilians who have never seen a weapon outside of a movie and are more worried about gas prices or their neighbor or more similar inane bullshit, when theres people risking their lives every day overseas.
A few points here.
If this is supposed to be a parody show to contend against the daily show and represent the right wing viewers, why are they parodying themselves?
Secondly, don't joke and belittle servicemen who've been fighting and dying in Afghanistan trying to quell the rampant terrorism while your own country is basically pouring oil over the fire by starting wars and torturing detainees.
And lastly, this is the type of comedy that makes Americans look like arrogant warmongering jackasses. It's a shame too because I have a lot of American friends, and my girlfriend is American too.

This was suppose to be funny? Between all the other Fox News segments about Canada I could not tell how this was any different from their normal insulting angle. Go fuck yourself Fox News. You guys aren't even owned by an American. You guys are run by an Australian. You work fattens the pockets of someone who recognizes the Queen for Christs sake which in a way, benefits Canada to a degree.
Since Canada's military is so small, they're usually highly trained and specialised, and are often deployed in support roles. Canada has many international obligations, and participates in numerous peace-keeping operations.
Afghanistan wasn't supposed to be a decade long commitment by Canada, so a lot of Canadians are a little miffed that we've been at this so long, and with no end in sight. Honestly, if Bush wasn't so eager to wage a second major war, everyone could have been out of Afghanistan by now...

To all the Americans or others in this thread saying its only comedy, would it be ok if I piss on the service of your countryman in Iraq at the expense of a laugh that would only be shred by two people in the entire world? I don't think it would be so I don't see how these comments can be excused because they are comedy. FOX News has a long history of insulting Canadians and I can see that most of what they say in this video they believe which just adds fuel to the fire that American Conservatives who watch and adore FOX News are fucking morons.

Their failed attempt at being humourous or witty aside, you guys have to know that there's a large portion of their audience (especially those watching at 3 am I'd imagine) who agree with at least the basic sentiments of the 'jokes'. It's not the degredation of Canada's military that bothers me so much as the absolute lack of journalistic integrity Fox is displaying here. Comedy show or not, they have a duty to at least be honest. As it is, segments like this only serve to reinforce certain American citizens' self-righteous attitudes.
I dunno... seems we have few enough nations in the world giving a shit about our problems, we probably shouldn't mock the handful that do. I mean, we've destroyed one entire nation for every Tower knocked down, so it's not like any of this falls in the bounds of a proportional response doctrine. And despite how unpopular that's made us Canada is still doing our bitchwork in Afghanistan while we try to get our shit together in Iraq. So I guess I don't get where people feel they have the right to mock that sacrifice.

Canada's military has been shouldering a disproportionate amount of the mission in Afghanistan for YEARS.
Canada's military may be underfunded, but our special forces (JTF2) are the only ones who are rated at the same level as the American Delta Force or Britain's SAS.
On a "per capita" analysis, the average Canadian soldier is better trained than the average American soldier, in spite of our poor funding.
My own brother has been in Afghanistan for six months, and is a month away from the end of his tour.

I mean, perhaps I should give Fox New kudos. In ONE five minute clip, they were able to shit on my brother's sacrifice, and my own work as a federal police officer. If they weren't so offensive, I could almost applaud them for the depth of their insults.
