So what we're essentially doing is making a fairly accurate comparison with the BNP and the Republican party.

The only difference is, very very few people give a shit about the BNP, whilst half of America care about the republicans.

Also I thought of this.

Fox has no credibility to lose. Never had.

It's a case of; nothing to lose, everything to gain (through slander and lies).

PAGING nyong!

Don't worry; nyong will be right along and clear this all up. It's clearly a misunderstanding; Fox is a legitimate news organization.

:lol he's the first person I thought of as well

Dear God!
Is that really true and not an hoax?
I mean they can't be THAT stupid, right?
Then again it's Fox news I guess...

I feel very sheltered to not have anything comparable as far as reporting goes in my country...

Well I was semi-joking but Maleficence and Dabookerman seem completely serious.

I too was semi-joking, just in case you're still wondering. Only semi though.

I want to laugh at this, it should be funny... But honestly its more scary than anything, when you put it in context and realize how many people are foaming at the mouth for this bullshit. Its blatantly racist and the people who watch this crap get off on it. Disgusting.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. Stupid? Yes. Racist...eh; I'm not seeing it.

It's certainly bigoted, and clearly trying to feed off of feelings of Islamophobia, and maybe even provoke them.

Not racist but like... Islamacist. That's my new word. Essentially, had that been some sort of Celtic imagery they associated it with, they would have been fine with it. Heck, if it looked exactly like some Celtic icon, no one would give two shits. The fact that they are going out of their way to extrapolate that Islam has some sort of influence on that symbol, is not as bad as the heavier implication that it is a bad thing.

Yeah racist may not have been the right term here, I like islamist, I think we should go with that. :lol

I guess it just feel "racist" to me because I live in the south, I live and work around the people that fox is pandering to, and I can attest to the fact that the grand majority of these people are in fact racist, but um "they all have black/arab friends" etc. etc.

Fox News is a joke, but so is every other American media outlet. Seems kind of silly to always just single out the one, but I suppose they are the "loudest".

Yeah I hate it when other news outlets other than Fox news photoshop people ugly, lie, and strive to worsen the relationships between it's viewership and minorities.

I agree. Shows how much FoxNews doesn't like Islam.

what's that about?

I don't see it so much as promoting a fear of Muslims so much as trying to feed into the image that Obama is somehow "illegitimate". Obviously, the goal being to stoke the imagination of their viewership and contribute to dumbing down the conversation (from an entertainment perspective, I could see how this would sell better than say NPR or News Hour with Jim Lehrer).

I suggest people start posting all the blunders from other news outlets too instead of just not posting anything because "everyone" is guilty of stupid, shitty or propaganda journalism.

Fact of the matter is, that gaf posts a lot of media blunders all the time, so all the Fox News threads has less to do with singling out as it has to do with the amount of retarded bullshit they spew (possible important note: ...amount of retarded bullshit they spew, for such a big, powerful and respected media outlet).

Oh don't get me wrong. We have a number of newspapers that could make a man weep for humanity. But we don't have an entire 24 hour news channel dedicated to misinformation.
I watched the movies "V" and "Children of Men", I know what the UK will be like. :D

Clearly, Obama has nothing better to do than sit around and personally design logos for his meetings. :megarolleyes

what bothers me the most with regards to that clip ( other than that mentally challenged lady ) is the fact that it seems like the guy to the right tries to be open about US - Muslim nations relationships. Which is all good and all but then the guy to the left starts laughing in the end and says something like

" Hahaha, yea we've tried to be friends with them before hahaha not gonna work this time either hohoho "

I am not saying it is promoting fear of Muslims, but the implication that somehow having some Islamic imagery delegitimizes something is nothing short of Islamacist.

I'm not saying that there isn't a degree of that involved, but I think what it really boils down to is that they're still playing this "can we really trust Obama" line that they're feeding to their viewership who are more than willing to gobble it up and come back for seconds.

But they're using the Islamophobic fear of their viewership to promote that idea. The whole basis of the idea is that Islam is bad, therefore something that looks Islamic is bad, and if it's intentional it is very bad.

Islam = bad
Crescent = Islamic symbol
Obama using Crescent symbol = Islam = Bad (and therefore untrustworthy)

Get it?

I think I see what you are saying, this ties in with the "Is Obama a secret Muslim" propaganda, which strives to delegitimize Obama because he 'lies about his Religion'. But the reality is in the eyes of the people who are outraged that Obama is lying to the American people about his religion, it's not the fact that he hides his religion that is so upsetting, but the religion he is hiding is Islam. But of course they wont admit to that "Oh I would have no problem if he was Muslim, I just don't think he should be lying to the American people".

Bullshit. And while this may be an attempt to dredge up the "Obama is lying to his people" crap, the reason that has any weight is because of the people who 'don't want no Moslems in the white house'.

I get it, of course, and I've said, there is that element to it. However, I am of the belief that the motivation of the producers or editors or whomever comes up with the talking points for the day are more interested in simply raising questions about Obama's legitimacy than they are about denouncing or slandering Islam. In reality, I think they could care less about Islam; they are more interested in how it can be used as a tool to stir up anti-Obama viewership, which they've cornered the network television market on.

But that shit is comparable to Nazi propaganda. What the fuck! Giving Steinberg a massive nose!? Why not stick flies flying around his head and stick the star of David on his forehead while we're at it!

Fair enough, what they're doing is clearly misleading, and fearmongering regardless of their motivations (which seem to be immoral at best).

Actually I do think they are trying to say being Muslim is bad. If being Muslim in this country was a net positive for a politician then these sort of stories wouldn't mean anything to FoxNews' viewers.

Seriously, whenever someone like ToxicAdam gives me shit for not giving American's enough credit for their independent thinking and general grasp of policy and government, I think to myself "Fox News".

They better have had some sort of disclaimer underneath saying "These images have been digitally edited and enchanced"
Otherwise, surely that can't be legal?

This is America, dude.

If they were to regulate news channels, they'd be labelled communists, socialists, and totalitarians.

I think the idea that the President designs logos is absurd.

I think finding a crescent moon in that logo is ridiculous.

But I think Fox news literally blanketing all Muslim nations as an alien threat and nakedly presenting that to their viewers as fact "Aaah, we'll try that one..." is an abomination.
