I think you care a little too much about what rival fans may think about you while cheering on your team. I'm not there to cheer for the other team's fans. I'm there to cheer on my team with fellow fans. They could be across the stadium breakdancing and shooting lightning from their ass while performing a totally original poem handpicked for their team and it really wouldn't mean shit. how is U..S..A.. the weakest? its probably the strongest it annoys the hell out of opponents, its unmistakable, and even has an arrogant quality about it which says "we're better than you!" even without saying it. Other countries cheer. The USA chant Taunts, Mocks and Cheers simultaneously its delicious.

Such a great guy. I hope any athlete from any nation would do that regardless of the anthem being played. I'm not sure those Fox News pundits would have stopped for the Jamaican anthem..

Here is how I would've countered the argument being sent onto Fox. I would've brought with me a picture of some U.S. Marines in uniform.
Then I would ask the host and the expert very calmly: Despite these United States Marines not wearing colors that represent the American flag, would you call these servicemen patriotic?
Fox would have only two responses. "Yes" or, the more Fox Newsian response, "Yes, but ____." Likely, they would say it's different for Marines since they put their lives on the line for Americans.
At that point, I would raise my voice into exclamation. "PRECISELY! It is what an individual DOES for his or her country, and not what colors that individual wears, that makes that individual a patriot. These Olympians are competing for and earning medals for our country, and it is their actions that make them patriots."
Then I would drop the mic and leave the interview.
