Frank Darabont Indiana Jones IV script LEAKED!!!

In before geeks elevate it to near-mythical status because it turns out to be more orthodox than Crystal Skull.

Holy Crap this is RETARDED

Indy says
Welcome to Earth to an Alien as he shoots it

Oh so has all those plot elements? Maybe it's not more orthodox.

OMG! I thought you were kidding! WTF! This is.... the same fucking story in a different script! :lol

Same shit, different title! Crystal skulls and the *spoiler* stuff are still in it, seems even more magnified! LOLZ!

I'm reading it from the beginning and it's making me grin so far.

The problem wasn't the aliens but how they were handled. I'm curious to read more.

Wasn't Gary Whitta championing this script in the official Indy 4 thread?

Maybe he read THE WHOLE THING?

A novel concept around these parts, I know.

Of course it's much easier to skip to the end and go, "Alienz LOLZZ."

...and the chase continues through the trees, Oxley in glimpses, fast he an ape, swinging from vine to vine, catching branches and hurtling on like a gymnast off the bars...

...with Indy not far behind, swinging on vines but lacking Oxley's animal agility. Indy lands on a branch, desperately trying to keep his balance, and realizes he's run out of vines. He pulls his whip and cracks it forward, using his whip now to keep swinging from tree to tree
hmmm

Or maybe he thought it would never get out... just so his argument against KOTCS would be perceived as more legit.

Yeah this script wouldn't have been better at all.

I mean.. people were decrying it for general silliness rather than for actual script failure... and this has plenty of silliness.

Funny how people fell in love with the Darabont script before ever reading it. Because of the Darabont name, apparently. I guess Nightmare on Elm Street 3 is awesome now too.

It actually makes far more sense for Oxley to be a Tarzan-like character who would start this off... and for Indy to clumsily follow along. Maybe his character could make it believable. It's kinda clear now how they just shoehorned Shia LeBeof into that sequence.

So the had at least 5 year to mull over the nuke and the fridge? And they still went with it ?:lol :lol :lol :lol

The nuke scene has been around since 1994 in the Indiana Jones and the Saucermen from Mars script... I might as well upload that now... so people can get the bigger picture.

And the monkeys are from Indiana Jones and the Monkey King/Indiana Jones and the Garden of Life.

I would have to respectfully disagree with you more then a little on this. Putting crazed Oxley into the monkey-Tarzan scene does not make it more believable, putting Indy in it makes it even worse.

for a few minutes i didn't believe you, thought you were joking ID4. Then downloaded script.

hoyl fuck. what is this bullshit.

i'll say one thing though, this is definitely the darabont that was in charge of the myst. what a pile of bullshit that was.

Haha indeed! I'll upload that script now too... Imagine the reaction if they portrayed the monkey scenes in KOTCS as written in the Monkey King script?!

For those who can't look at this gem.

HENRY
I'm so proud of you, son. So proud...
(pulls back)
...in fact, I'm going to sing a
song at your wedding!

INDY
(as Henry departs)
Dad, that's not really...necessary...

But the old man's gone. Indy turns back to Marion with
trepidation. They keep dancing. Indy glances apprehensively
to the stage as the singer finishes and hands the microphone
to Henry, who murmurs to the BAND LEADER. The band launches
into the intro of "Fly Me to the Moon"

INDY
I've never seen him like that. Or
heard him sing before...

MARION
Come on, I bet he's not so bad.

Indy's not so sure. He glances over and sees:

Professor Oxley seated at a table in his tweedy suit, nursing
a glass of white wine. The old fellow's looking a bit wan in
the aftermath of his ordeal, but is definitely himself again.
He catches Indy's eye, raises his glass in a toast. Indy and
Marion smile warmly back — and everybody winces, including
Oxley, as Henry starts SINGING...boy, is he terrible:

HENRY
"fly me to the moon...let me sail
among the stars...let me see what
spring is like on Jupiter and Mars..."

Oh god.

It's not "good"... but you can see where they were coming from at this stage in the script. Oxley could have been written as a kind of feral wildman, making his prowess in trees understandable, and Indy swings from his whip all the time, starting with the very first scene of Raiders. I can see where the story would have once made it a logical sequence: "Indy chases a wildman through the trees".... It's about as dumb a sequence as riding mine carts. while now, dropping Shia into the scene, trained by some random CG monkeys, there is no purpose for it, and it comes across as a "magical kid" moment, like when the little girl does gymnastics on the raptor in The Lost World.

want to read the saucer-men script. Still wish Indy 4 had played up some more 50s B movie alien aspects.

I still maintain the fridge scene was awesome

Guys why are you suprised it is the same plot?

Lucas wrote an outline in 1992 with aliens, the nuke fridge, rocket sled...etc all in it.

There are drawn images of the nuke fridge going back as far as 1993. ALL screenplays followed Lucas's 20 page outline exactly. This has been known for over 15 years.

As cheebs has said Lucas has been the Mastermind behind all of the movies. He makes an outline and people flesh it out. Lucas just cant stay consistent on good films

Yep. Daranbot and the other writers all took Lucas's very detailed outlines and filled in the details. Lucas plotted all of this out and we would have got what we got this may more or less no matter the screen writer.

The opening warehouse scene is quite a bit better in the Darabont draft. It features Indy acting more like Indy and less like the bad guys' lapdog.

Uh, this is a lot better. I'm about two-thirds through, and a lot of the setpieces are the same, but it's not completely cartoony like Crystal Skull. It doesn't hit you over the head with the alien stuff and rigid exposition right from the beginning, and it actually has a sense of mystery. Marion actually has a purpose here. And there's absolutely no comparing the dialogue in the Koepp script with this. This feels like an Indy movie; Crystal Skull was a Disneyland ride with all the characters in one car.

Plus, hey, the whole flying-gunpowder scene is nowhere to be seen here.
