Fuck me! They look so awesome!! Great casting!

Wow. That cast picture is crazy. The only choice I'm not too happy about is Lori. I didn't think she was a very good actress on Prison Break, but we'll see.

The kid playing Carl maybe looks a little too old as well, and considering how fast he's going to age between seasons it might be an issue down the road.

Yeah, Carl is the only issue I have. Not that the casting isn't awesome but the fact that they didn't learn from Lost that child actors (WALLLLTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!) grow fast and sometimes you just have to get rid of the character completely.

Well, that's not much of an issue here, is it? :lol

Idris Elba for Tyreese?
No, that's my silly head making suggestions to no one. IIRC Tyreese has not been casted yet.

Edit: There's a new black dude called T-Bone, though.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how they handle Carl growing up. In the comic, only about 1-1 1/2 years have passed so far. They'll have to start switching some timelines around to keep up with Carl's actor's aging.

I don't want him killed off, Super Badass Carl is currently one of the best characters in the book right now, IMO.

Aint-it-Cool talks to Darabont about who's writing/directing S1:
AICN said:
“Hope to see you at Comic-Con,” says filmmaker Frank Darabont, writer-director of such big-screen projects as “The Shawshank Redeption,” “The Green Mile” and “The Mist.” “We've got a pretty cool ‘Walking Dead’ reel to show.”

We haven’t yet seen a second of footage from Darabont’s new AMC series “The Walking Dead,” but it could be this autumn’s most anticipated series.

Its first season, which comprises only six episodes, began shooting June 3 and will start shambling onto AMC in October.

It’s long been known that Darabont wrote and directed the first episode himself, but when AICN visited him on the set of the that episode last month, we knew next to nothing about who was handling these chores for subsequent episodes.

I asked Darabont himself and he just came back with the line-up for the entire first season:
You have but to ask!

The directors for the first six are:

1) Me.
2) Michelle MacLaren (Breaking Bad, X-Files)
3) Gwyneth Horder-Payton (The Shield, BSG)
4) Johan Renck (Breaking Bad)
5) Ernest Dickerson (The Wire, Dexter)
6) Guy Ferland (The Shield, Sons of Anarchy)

The writers for the first six are:

1) Me
2) Me
3) Me, Chic Eglee, Jack LoGuidice. (Chic: The Shield, Dexter. Jack: Sons of Anarchy)
4) Robert Kirkman (wrote some comics I think)
5) Glen Mazzara (The Shield, Hawthorne)
6) Adam Fierro (The Shield, Dexter, 24)
(If Darabont is a typical showrunner, he’s overseeing all creative aspects of all episodes, from the writing to post-production, which he's said is “a full-time job in itself.”)

Eglee, whom I believe serves as the series’ co-showrunner, has been a grade-A force in American television for decades, having scripted lots of “Moonlighting,” “St. Elsewhere” and “L.A. Law” before creating “Murder One” for Stephen Bochco and “Dark Angel” for James Cameron.

Kirkman, for those unaware, writes the “Walking Dead” funnybooks on which the series is based. If I’m not mistaken, 1.4 will represent Kirkman’s first produced teleplay ever.

The “Walking Dead” Comic-Con panel is scheduled for Friday, July 23 at 11:30am in room 6BCF. Darabont, Kirkman and cast members Andrew Lincoln (Rick), Jon Bernthal (Shane), Sarah Wayne Callies (Lori), Laurie Holden (Andrea), and Emma Bell (Amy) are all expected.

Laurie actually looks pretty good as Andrea in the pic. Carl looks a bit goofy, I wonder if he'll become as tough and badass as he is in the comics.

Soo... first trailer @ Comic Con or what?

No, but there will be a poster done by a "very prominent artist" done for the show...I'm giving my roommate $100 just in case he can buy one.

Yeah, Kirkman talked about writing E4 awhile ago, cool stuff. I imagine Darabont won't be showrunning next season, it is a full time job.

I figure we'll see some footage at Comic-Con.

Probably just a teaser with a few seconds, rather than a full blown trailer ( I think they're filming either episode 2 or 3 right now).

So these are slow zombies, right?

I'm just judging from the pictures. They do indeed look like real, slow ones, and not the new "infected" type that we've been seeing lately (For what it's worth, I really liked Zombieland, the zombies in that film fit for what kind of film it was, but for the most part I like the slow ones a lot more).

Also, are there any Resident Evil, mutated bats/spiders/scorpion type deals or is it straight zombie?

I love me some Shawshank and Green Mile, so I'll be interested in this regardless.

Been meaning to get into Breaking Bad, just never have the time it seems. Not interested in Mad Men. Nice to see another channel making original things though.

Well, assuming they go off the comics, there are only slow zombies and no zombies of any other type, no fast or other species zombies.

Wish people would spoiler tag the Carl talk, some people wait for the trades :/

I didn't really spoil anything though, and Carl's been badass for awhile now :p.

I guess I did spoil that he's still alive though...

I would like to thank this thread for introducing me to the "Dead Set" which was great. Better than 28 Days Later, imo. Can't believe I had never heard of it.

I actually thought The Walking Dead was sort of tiresome after a few issues, but the idea of AMC producing a tv show based on it is still mad interesting. Can't wait.

- From AMC blog, Dispatches From the Set: Executive Producer Gale Anne Hurd
Q: You're getting ready to head to Comic-Con. As a veteran there, what are you looking forward to?

A: We're absolutely thrilled that AMC has agreed to let us screen exclusive footage from Frank's pilot episode for our Comic-Con audience, for the very first time anywhere. Frank and I are fans ourselves, and we want fans of The Walking Dead to see sequences that can really sink their teeth into [Laughs]. I'm hoping there will be a great deal of zombie love.

- Video: Robert Kirkman Tours the Set
What's the difference between writing a comic and producing a multi-million dollar television series? According to The Walking Dead scribe Robert Kirkman, walkie talkies (among other things). Follow Kirkman through the set of a devastated gas station as he describes watching Andrew Lincoln portray Rick Grimes ("pretty handsome guy"), the intricacies of garbage placement, and getting in the way of zombies in this new behind-the-scenes video.

Jesus Christ, I want comic con footage...

I've been trying to stay away from this thread, to keep me from totally melting down with anticpation.

I've got two people with i4's going to the conference. They will be sending me footage as soon as it's done recording.

Today Walking Dead #75 came out, and the issue had really cool portraits of the cast. I don't have a scanner so I'll post them as soon as I see them online.

Fuuuuck. Darabont got Drew Struzan to cheat his "retirement" and illustrate this poster for the Walking Dead
