The bold is true, and the old lady is probably bullshitting, I just disagree with his implication that anyone who sings along to a song instead of using alternate versions is racist.
It really depends on where you stand with white people singing along with rap songs that use the N word.
If I'm rapping and having fun, I'm not censoring myself while reciting some of my favorite lines.
We need to start reserving judgement until we get a Ja ruling on these issues. What does Ja Rule think? Who cares. What does WAKA FLOCKA think? EVERYONE.
CNN just interviewed him. lol
Cause, you know, that's clearly what was happening here...
I mean personally, if we singing a rap song I don't give a fuck who sings the lyrics, white, black, asian, native american w/e. It's just some music and shit that no one can fully enjoy if 88% of the fucking population be mumbling the words around 12% of the population. But like, my issue is why the fuck do you wanna fight for your right to say a word so drenched in racism and ignorance against the wishes of the people it offends? It just bugs me. It's like the Washington Redskins organization trying to tell the indigenous people the name is actually honouring them. It's like no idiots, they are the one's who get to decide what is or isn't offensive to then and if you wanna ignore that then you are clearly acting in a hateful manner. It's not arguable.
We have names on these jackasses yet?

Personally I avoid saying the word during a "sing along" and don't care to defend using it. I just disagree with the opinion in that post. With how popular rap is worldwide and how common the word is in songs, I think it's extreme to say that anyone using it while singing along has some racist intention behind it.
If everyone who sang Niggas in Paris without censoring themselves was a racist, then omg the whole planet is racist.
CNN identified the one leading the chant (citing the school's newspaper). Said his name is Parker Rice
What the hell is "Niggas in Paris"? That seems like a pretty dumb title for a song.If everyone who sang Niggas in Paris without censoring themselves was a racist, then omg the whole planet is racist.

lulz
lulz
Ugglulz
The mere coincidence of there being two students with the same name.Where are said "lulz"?
The mere coincidence of there being two students with the same name.
I thought I had found him. Only to find his non-racist counterpart.
This happens literally all the time on the internet. People don't find it surprising or coincidental.
It's serious shit that can ruin lives. Thanks for sharing it further though!
Yeah has anyone talked about this "chant" not being just an SAE at OU thing yet?Sad, that entire fraternity seemed poisoned
Gwyneth Paltrow got poked on twitter for saying she was with her niggaz in Paris or something.
Yeah it was mentioned that this chant is not just isolated to this chapter.Yeah has anyone talked about this "chant" not being just an SAE at OU thing yet?
Ah ok. Trying to keep up. ThanksYeah it was mentioned that this chant is not just isolated to this chapter.
The kids chanted about hanging people from a fucking tree while representing the college they belong to, from a purely business perspective (since that will probably be easier to grasp unlike an obviously complicated concept like empathy) it means that it will limit the pool of students they choose, including student athletes, it will hurt their reputation, it could create an atmosphere of tension on campus. Even if for a second we pretend that this people dont deserve this, do you think that its up to the university to willingly take this kind of hit just to protect some racist students?
Isn't the university one of the best places to enforce these kinds of faults? You can leverage their attendance while also (hopefully) improving a student. They're only taking a hit in terms of public appeal, morally they would be doing a good thing. It's just if you want to speak from a position of anger nothing good will come from this except a bad apple will be placed outside but nothing has been done to curb this behavior: you're just moving it from one basket to another.Nah.
Sometimes you just fuck up and because of your fuck up, you fall on your ass. Why is it the university's responsibly to coddle these grown ass men and hold their hand while hopefully rehabilitating their racist perspective?
What would that say to minority students? What would that say to people who marched and crossed picket lines for the right for blacks to attend the same schools without being harassed?
Rehabilitation works. Even though these are not prisoners, the same logic still applies just on a less severe degree. The burden of proof lies with you to prove that these methods are wrong and yours are right, because you're the one making the claim using nothing but your word. You don't accuse someone of misdirection and demand they provide evidence that what you are saying isn't correct. That's a logical fallacy.
"Might". Great. There is the crux of your argument. You have no data behind "getting kicked the fuck out". You just have a gut feeling backed up by your own disgust of their act. Education works, so there are better ways to handle this situation. Not obtuse at all. Just sarcastically mocking a position that wants to hand-hold motherfuckers that are laughing about this:

They're not dumb. They know better. They just didn't give a fuck. Some community service isn't going to change that. Getting kicked the fuck out of school and making national headlines in the process might.

She continued on to say that the Webster definition of the n-word means ignorant so the folks at SAE could've just been using it in the definitive meaning.

There are plenty others discussing rehab vs punishment. At a point you've got to look past your own disgust for the act and think, "what is the better solution?" even if you dislike the process or how "well" they are treated.

The world isn't fair. It hasn't been fair for thousands of years. It will continue to not be fair well passed your death. Probably even further past that point as well. I can understand the frustration and anger when dealing with these people, I truly do, but the right choice is to help these people even if you don't want to accept that. Call it "hugs", "coddling", "affluenza" all you want, it does not change the fact assistance and additional education is the best way to curb bad behavior.

I feel better about it already. Don't you?Oh, good.
He's sorry! Let the healing process begin!

I laughed at this being part of a sincere argument for why we shouldn't be so mean to these racists. The world isn't fair. It hasn't been fair for thousands of years. It will continue to not be fair well passed your death. Probably even further past that point as well.
It draws a parallel of how education and assistance can curb bad behavior. How does this not translate to this kind of behavior?Yes, "might". Welcome to the real world where there are no absolutes regardless of [website link that supports argument]. And those links are about prison. Not college.
Yes. Education and assistance is key in helping these prisoners who COMMIT acts of physical violence, theft, murder, etc, so why can't it help people who are racist? And you have what? Some fucking weblinks? I can pull data out my ass to support my argument all I want. I just don't anymore because it becomes a shitty battle of Google rather than a tangible discussion. At the end of the day there are no absolutes. Im not saying put em in jail to teach them. I'm just saying sometimes they gotta learn the hard way.
I can live with them getting kicked out. I am at least able to acknowledge there are better ways to handle these incidents. Now you're getting it! The world isn't fair. Which is why you and those racist frat boys will just have to learn to cope with the fact they got kicked out. I'll cry when they're done learning.
Welcome to the real world kids. People aren't going to take the time to "teach" you when you make fucked up references to lynching Black people. Not fair? Tough shit.
I really wanted their names to be something like Jasper Laramie the Third and Beauregard Q. Devereaux
