I've seen Adventure Time and I love it. But it doesn't make the kind of references and fourth-wall breaking that Freakazoid does.

There are fine cartoons still being made, but honestly, I'm still waiting to see something that takes a combination of nonsensical lunacy, fourth wall breaking, dirty jokes/sexual innuendo, casual stabs at real world entities, and packages it up in a show made for kids. We're not even talking about shock cartoons like Ren & Stimpy; that's its own thing altogether.

Of course I'm thinking more Animaniacs than Freakazoid, but the latter works too.

This was my favorite cartoon show when I was little. I watched it a few months ago and even caught some Jewish jokes if I recall correctly. For a kid's show it was surprisingly deep in its humor and how it was presented.

Spiel should reboot it!

Animaniacs is easily the worst of the 90s WB/Spielberg shows, there's just so many misfires in the show. The only characters that were decently funny the whole way through the show were Pinky and the Brain and Slappy Squirrel, the rest were worthless and forgettable. Even the Warners themselves got pretty annoying after a while.

I'll never understand the internet's nostalgic love for the show, because its pretty awful.
