Free 6-Month Trial to Blockbuster Total Access (one disc at a time, includes games)

There's one on 93rd and Broadway if you live in Manhattan. It's right off the 96th street stop on the 1,2,3.

I'm in corona, queens... @_@!

Nothing close, walking that far... No

Will cost me $4.50 to return a game and try to grab one... lol, I'll take whatever they give me

My account says unlimited exchanges for movies, doesn't say stuff about games. I'd check before you guys head out.

#1-5 magically are now "Short Wait" from available after Alice shipped

Signed up and got my first movie today. Apparently you can exchange it in store for a movie to rent for free or certain movie and non-new game rentals at a discounted price. So I'll be going to my "somewhat local but not as local as the two other locations they closed" Blockbuster to see if it'll work.

And apparently the in store discounted rentals don't count towards you queue or discs out, but you have to return them in store and before a due date. I'll see soon enough hopefully.

Edit: I read this info here: https://www.blockbuster.com/signup/howItWorks

BLOCKBUSTER By Mail and Total Access In-store Exchanges: Valid at participating BLOCKBUSTER® stores. . Total Access subscribers may exchange online rentals for free in-store movie rental exchanges, up to plan limits per billing month. For both By Mail and Total Access subscribers, you may exchange your online rentals for discounted movie rentals (once your free rentals are exhausted if applicable), or discounted game rentals at participating BLOCKBUSTER stores. Online rental must be presented at the checkout counter of a participating BLOCKBUSTER store in the return mail envelope provided by BLOCKBUSTER Online at time of exchange.

Free in-store movie exchanges will count towards the number of DVDs you are allowed out at-a-time under your Total Access plan. For example, if you have a 3 DVDs out-at-a-time plan, your free in-store movie exchange will count towards the 3 DVDs you are allowed out. You will not receive your next online rental until you return your free in-store exchange. At participating stores, free in-store movie exchanges have no due dates and are not subject to in-store rental terms. You may keep your free in-store movie exchanges as long as you like, provided you remain a Total Access subscriber.

Discounted in-store movie or game rental exchanges will not count towards the number of DVDs you are allowed out under your plan. Therefore, when you take a discounted movie or game rental exchange, the next available selection from your BLOCKBUSTER Online queue will begin to be processed. Unlike free movie exchanges, discounted movie and game exchanges are subject to store rental terms and conditions, including due dates and charges which may apply to rentals not returned by the due date. See store for complete in-store rental terms and conditions.

DOUBLE EDIT:
On the change plans page under the account settings it says this:
If you switch to a plan with more discs at a time, we'll send you additional discs from your Queue right away. You won't be billed until your next billing date.

Since the next billing date is in January does this mean you could upgrade to a three disc plan for the trial with no fee until the end? The obvious answer is NO to me, but I think someone who isn't me should test it.

I am currently on a 2 month, 3 disc at a time plan. I would switch to this if it meant I could swap for new games at the store. But my store only allows me to swap for $.99 games, of which there is a shit selection.

BE VERY CAREFUL. I clicked the link in the OP yesterday, followed directions, and got charged ~$5-6 for the first month. It said my current "promotional plan" was like $5 a month + tax for 2 months then is going up to $10 a month. I didn't see any of this in the small text when I signed up. I cancelled immediately and will be calling to complain tomorrow about shady business practices.

I clicked the link again (after clearing my cookies) and got this:
"By Mail +
Unlimited in-store movie exchanges
$0.00/ mo. + tax
$9.99/ mo. + tax (after trial period)"
And I see no mention of how long the trial period is supposed to last.

Didn't get ANY benefit from this and I'm about to lose money. If you're on the fence, don't bother signing up.

I don't think you did it properly, as hundreds of people have signed up through that same link on Slickdeals and never had that issue.

That's how it works with this too, just got back from the store. Basically you can exchange for 99¢ games and movies without a due date but still counts as a disc out. So I just got Red Dead Redemption.

WHY DOES THE WEBSITE LIE AND WHY IS ASURA'S WRATH SO LIMITEDLY POPULAR?

I clicked the link in the OP and filled it out. Where could I possibly have messed up?

clicked the logo or some other link and then tried to navigate back to the trial using the on site links instead of the included one. I suggest this because I almost did this by mistake, then came back here and reclicked the link to get me to the proper trial sign up page

Doing this in conjunction with Gamefly. On a two disc plan, Gamefly has sent me BF3, Rage, and now Catherine and Mass Effect 3. I'm still waiting on Blockbuster to send anything.

I'm doing this for the movies/TV shows, since their game selection is pretty anemic and I have a massive backlog. They just sent me the first Blu-ray of True Blood Season 1. Been wanting to check this show out for a while now.

Huh, I might try this out. Thanks OP.

Does anyone know if I can drop my games off locally, and will that make my 'return period' shorter, or do they just mark it as soon as you tell them you sent it off? Also, how long can you keep the games?

You can keep the games for as long as you want. I know you can trade the game you get from the mail to a local blockbuster for a free $.99 rental or something along those lines. I don't know if you can just return the game to the store for quicker turn around times, though.

God SSX on PS3 shipped today, even if it said it was a long wait. Weird thing is they sent an email saying they shipped the game after I got it. Other than that, pretty sweet deal.

Got my first game today as well (Beautiful Katamari), shipping was a day late for me as well but considering this is free and the wait wasn't that bad I can't say I am really upset or anything. Glad I signed up.

I have no idea what you are writing.

in store exchanges.

get movie/game from online sent to you. Watch/ play.
Take movie/game to blockbuster store front. Trade for any movie /game (game has to be game, movie has to be movie)
take home.
Watch movie/game.
Return movie/game to local store.
Online then sends you next one in que.

put shadows of the damned on my list on monday, got it yesterday even though email said expected arrival was today. Not bad.

oh and that game is crazier than i imagined, but damn if i'm not enjoying the shit out of it so far.

So I went to GameStop today to get a Steam voucher... and saw the only Blockbuster in town and probably within a 15-mi radius is torn down. So much for in-store exchanges for me.

RIP I guess?

This is fantastic! Ordered Kung Fu Panda 2, sleeve says Kung Fu Panda 2, movie? Footloose. What the fuck Blockbuster. Can I just go to a store and have it exchanged? I have one 3 minutes away :p

Same thing happened to me. Arrived the next day so that's not bad.
Lucky you man. Mine still hasn't arrived.

I wonder where they are sending the discs from as a friend of mine who lives in New Jersey had the same game shipped out on the same day (July 17, 2012) and he got his the next day.

Got my copy of Bioshock 2 yesterday, ran fine, beat it, returned it today. Next up, Captain America: Super Soldier. I'm looking forward to it.

So the first movie I got was Real Steel. I watched it last night so I put it in and sealed the envelope so I could just drop it in the mailbox this morning. So I wake up this morning and find the envelope ripped in half presumably by one of my sisters. should I just throw the movie in a random envelope in its slip or what?

Thanks bob page, you sir are a true gentleman.

So, looking at the site is there a way to tell how backed up a game is? I want Gears of War 3 but I don't want to squander a month or two waiting for it. Thanks.

All games are super backed up.

I've never seen a PS3 game I wanted have a Short Wait Time or Available.

I have seen many games in my list get removed completely, and become unavailable when they were suppose to ship. Also, if you have movies in your list, no matter how far down they are, don't expect to get games. I still haven't gotten 3D heroes, and it's been top of m my list for months.

Top 5 on my list.

If you can take it to Blockbuster and tell them something happened to your envelope, they have extras.

My disc just arrived. It's cracked in half.

Blockbuster :lol

No kidding. I got Alan Wake in a day or two ago and just now had the time to try it out. Checked the disc and it was quite scratched, but I figured they wouldn't send me a busted game. Put it in my slim 360 and I started having flash backs to my old model.. diesel engine style disc reading fills my room. Tried to load the game and it gets almost to the title screen before a dirty disc error, every time.

tldr; broke games gg blockbuster

did you try installing the game?

>.< since they do not rent 3ds games and almost every game I want to play is not available or has long waits but hey it is free . Also is a pain to surf their site lol .

Got Gears of War 3 and played the first couple levels. I forgot how much I detest this series. Turning it right back around, maybe I'll try Fallout New Vegas.

They told me they are shipping the Sly collection day. Never touched any of these games so I am pretty excited. I don't even know anything about it except it's a raccoon and Naughty Dog made it.

This deal really seems too good to be true, but I'll have to put something in my calendar to remind myself to cancel in 6 months.
