My retail sense is tingling!

It might not say it but I'm pretty sure they will charge you $10.

When you get gift cards at stores unless you return it with the item its deducted from the total, and most places dont print it on the receipt.

Nope already did this with Men in Black 3. Got code and ticket went to see mediocre movie then cancelled pre order. Amazon said thank you come again.

Why would you go through all this to save $2

Movie ticket voucher is for $10

Bluray is selling for $28

When it's released you will most likely be able to buy it for $20

So in the grand scheme your saving yourself $2

Preorder price guarantee. Unless you mean like a month after.

Just got my code today, went to the site, selected a theater and got the certificate, then canceled pre-order. Thanks again.

Still working? I placed my order but got no code yet.

So no AMC theatres accept the passes in my area. And nowhere is accepting them for midnight showings :( :( :( :( :( Oh well
Did you click to show all eligible theaters rather than just 15 or whatever arbitrary number the site says? It took me making them show all theaters in my area to let me scroll down and catch that the AMCs in my area were, in fact, eligible for this movie money stuff. Kinda shady of them to do that, only showing Regals in the top of the list.

Oh they're at the top of the list, but go to Fandango and look for showings that say "No Passes"

Every midnight showing for every theater (IMAX at least, must see it in IMAX) says "No Passes" and going specifically to the AMC theatres every showing of Prometheus whether is in IMAX, 3D or 2D says "No Passes". Maybe it's the first week they won't let you but I can't see past the 14th. But all of them up to the 14th say that. So I'm going to show across town on the 8th. The only actual IMAX in my city actually (the AMC one is Liemax)

The certificate says that it's valid for showings that say "no coupons, no passes."

AMC doesn't seem to participate in those kind of things. I ran into this problem with Bourne Supremacy certificates.

Is there a local chain or perhaps a Cinemark in your area?

And just an FYI for other people who are thinking about using a theater other than the one they selected:

You can go to the theater locator on the Hollywood Movie Money site and enter in the promo code that's on your pass (38667 for Prometheus I think) and it will show all the theaters that can accept that type of pass. It should work at all the ones listed according the FAQ. So no worries being tied to one theater.

I did this last night. There was no reason not to. Amazon doesn't charge until it ships so if the movie is awesome I'll be buying it anyway. They charge you the lowest price as well so if it drops down (which it most likely will) that's what I'll pay.

Not to go on a high horse, but I think it might be a little unfair to do this. At least, pre-order the Blu-ray then get the code for the ticket and go see the movie. If the movie is shit, cancel pre-order. If you really like it, keep the pre-order. I just feel it may not be fair to the studios/Amazon/whatever to just pre-order to get the code and immediately cancel afterwards. If you're someone who has very little money to spare but really want to see this movie, than maybe I can see that as an excuse.

And yeah, I'm realizing I'm "oh ho ho, on my high horse" but I honestly don't think you're a bad person for doing this to get a ticket. I just feel it may make me feel a little guilty, assuming I had money to just go and buy a ticket at the theatre.

Edit: If enough people do this just to get a ticket, I wouldn't doubt Amazon says 'fuck this' and pulls the promo and doesn't do something like this again.

I agree. I haven't cancelled mine because unless the movie is actually shit and not worth owning I have no reason to. I would honestly feel bad about cancelling my preorder right after I got the reward certificate deal. I know Amazon should have known better. Just seems really shitty on a personal level. But that's just me. I'm sure I've done tons of shit that other people who say is of low moral standing so I'm not trying to judge.

OK I Pre-Ordered

I got no code, or anything saying I'll get a movie ticket

Am I missing something?

It was answered above me LOL

Ticket only covers $10 and movie prices in NYC are like $12 -_-
The solution I've had was to hit up matinee shows on the weekends in the AMC theaters to get the cheapest rates possible. Unlucky that Prometheus doesn't have any 2D matinee shows, but at least with this pass the price goes down to at least a buck for one ticket.

Can you pay the difference?
Do NYC theaters even have meatiness anymore?
Hopefully I can pay the difference, what happened to just being 1 full price ticket. Would that have been so hard to do?

Thanks for the heads up. Ordered regular Blu. I have no use for 3D, and I figure it is the more likely to see steep discounts at release.

Pre-order guarantee, and if I don't like (unlikely) I can cancel. For a movie I was going to see in theaters anyways.

Can you pay the difference?

Yes. Or at least I always have been able to at a couple of different chains.

If your theater can accept these as payment, then you will be able to pay the difference if it's not enough.

That said, there are interesting limitations that pop up where you may have to pay a difference even though you don't think you need to, but which really don't apply in this specific case.

Yeah, I have nothing. Ordered when I posted, so about 22 hours ago.

Sucks. Still up. If anybody has the energy to talk to CS report back to us.

Just wondering if anyone has used it yet. It says on the paper valid for no pass showings but just want to make sure. I'll be going tomorrow so if no one responds I'll update.
