The look on Mrs Coach's face when she sees Tyra put the chips away in the cupboard above the fridge, rather than on it...:lol

Street's little storyline was cool. Riggins' money troubles over before they begun, woop. Landry with the hot geek chick, should be a nice love trianlge developing with Tyra too. good stuff all round.

I can see the next episode being mostly football based.

The meth guy was really exceedingly fair. He gave Tim shelter and friendship, let Tim off when he found the lab, only kicked his ass for stealing his cash, and didn't impose interest. Good guy!

When you put it that way... :lol

Great episode indeed, just saw it. Anyone know how many we have left till the well's dry?

Just caught up on the last 2 episodes. :D

I really could have done without the heavy handed attempts at dealing with racism, but otherwise i enjoyed episode 12. Seeing Weevil in another show was kind of a buzz. The Taylor scenes were an absolute joy. It's nice to see Tami not being judgemental and snippy like most of this season (even though i liked that).

LOVED episode 13. It felt like a season 1 episode aside from the whole Riggins money plot. There was a heap of excellent character interactions and the writers utilized pretty much the entire ensemble. :O

It was covering some old territory with Tyra joining the volleyball team, similar to the powderpuff games in season 1, but it was nice to have some continuity of Eric being head of the athletics department. I was giddy watching Tyra on the court with Tami egging her on. "Focus on that Riggins and slam it down his throat." :lol

Continuing the trend this season of plotlines i hate on first impression, but end up paying off rather well, was Smash's arrest and eventual suspension. Totally contrived, but i foresee some good drama to come. Smash's mum is one of the best characters on the show.

Street as a car salesman was also all kinds of awesome. Loved his moments with herc towards the end.

After tonights episode is there any doubt that this is the best show on tv? I wish Tyra would die.

How can they take this show from us? Worst thing about the strike bar none. This was one the best episodes evar and the knowledge that none of this shit is going to get resolved in time is just dang brutal.

i had to leave with 10 minutes left. I left right after Saracen's breakdown and coach letting up on him.

awesome episode.

The other day we told you that an upcoming DVD of a Joaquin Phoenix film, Reservation Road, would include a bonus television episode, the second season premiere episode of Friday Night Lights. Fans will be very happy to know that they won't have to wait long to get the rest of the season, though!

An industry source, who wishes to remain anonymous, has informed us that they've received the heads-up that Friday Night Lights - The 2nd Season, will be in stores on April 22nd. That set will include all 15 episodes of the strike-shortened sophomore season (twenty-two eps were originally ordered by the network), including episodes that will air tonight and next week.

Since there are episodes still to be broadcast yet, Universal has not formally announced this release. Our source tells us that this is a done deal, though...or as much of a done deal as DVD release dates ever can be (they are always subject to change, of course, until you actually hold them in your hand). We won't get any other details, such as pricing or extras, until the studio makes the release official. But stay tuned and we'll bring that to you just as soon as we can!

Man that was a good episode. One of my favorites, which is rare for an episode with no Street

It's finally kicking in that there's only one episode left. It's pretty depressing. The football plot is finally getting interesting, and it'll just cut stop after next game. I'll have to make do with re-watching episodes 5-15 (which I conveniently have in HD form on my hard drive)

After next week's episode, I'm pretty sure I'll want to give a FNL-esque motivational speech to the posters in this locker room of a thread. The thread for an entire season of one of the very best shows on TV is shorter than the threads for many episodes of other more popular shows here on GAF. We are few but we are proud.

Wow, this show has jumped the shark. Just outside of the idiotic plots that keep appearing and the convenient writing, they're trying their best to make every character unlikeable, with Eric and Tami clearly next in line for this treatment.

It's still better than most stuff on TV today, but Season 1 was much better in every way. It's disturbing how much this show has lost its' way.

It's the Veronica Mars effect. But the show is just shot and acted so well, I just can't stop watching.

Ben Silverman Is Not Optimistic About Friday Night Lights

PEACOCK Ben
Things are not looking good for fans of Friday Night Lights, the show that critics (and us!) love but that no one actually watches. At a launch party for Lipstick Jungle at Saks last night, attended by a hot Lorraine Bracco, a crazy-looking Matthew Perry, and that guy who played Shooter McGavin in Happy Gilmore and whose name might as well be That Guy, we had the following conversation with boyish NBC Entertainment head Ben Silverman:

Radar: Quick question! A lot of us are happy that you've kept Friday Night Lights on the air despite lousy ratings. It's totally the best show on TV. But is there going to be another season?

Silverman: Do you watch 30 Rock? That's the best show on TV.

Not regularly. But what about FNL?

Start watching 30 Rock. It's the best show on TV.

I don't want to watch 30 Rock. I want to watch FNL. I love it.

I love it. You love it. Unfortunately, no one watches it. That's the thing with shows. People have to watch them. We're NBC, we have a reputation to uphold. And, man, with this writers' strike ... well, we'll see what we can do. But start watching 30 Rock.

Don't say you were never warned. A few other things about Silverman: He was wearing a slim-cut navy suit with no tie and black loafers; he didn't stop smiling the entire time he was there, to the point where you wondered if he was always naturally "on" or if he was under some sort of medication; and he seemed to know about 80 percent of the females in the room, most of whom kissed him on the cheek, hugged him, or squealed "Hiiiii Ben!" when talking to him.

shit shit shit :(

Sadly, I really doubt FNL will be renewed. But at least they'll probabaly shoot a couple of a new episodes to wrap it up IF the strike ends in the next few days.

http://www.tvguide.com/Ask-Ausiello

Question: Will we see any new episodes of Friday Night Lights once the strike ends?— Dave
Ausiello: Nope. NBC confirmed as much when they leaked unofficially announced the news that the Season 2 DVD — featuring all 15 episodes — was being released on April 22. I don't remember the last time a piece of DVD news left me so depressed. Oh, wait, yes I do.

Question: What do you have for what could be the last-ever episode of Friday Night Lights? — Ann
Ausiello: The same thing I've had for months: A pregnancy bombshell that no one will see coming. (And I know, because I've spent the last five weeks reading all your guesses.) And all joking aside, if NBC even considers pulling the plug on FNL, they better board up their windows, 'cause a sh--storm's gonna blow into town. In fact, the National Weather Service has already given it a name: Hurricane Ausholes.

I was going to. I thought about it. But it's the last episode of the series most likely, and it wasn't intended to be. We should suffer like G did.

It's now or never, Friday Night Lights fans.

Since the drama's second season is being released on DVD in April with (tellingly) only the 15 pre-strike episodes included, it is highly unlikely that the show will return this season. And unless you tune in in droves — and bring friends, strangers and pets to the Nielsen box — tonight's season finale could well serve as the series finale.

At least on NBC.

Although Peacock prez Ben Silverman's dismissive comments in Radar this week imply that he isn't among FNL's supporters, many of his colleagues both at the network and studio still believe in the show in a big way. In fact, my source tells me that execs are working 'round the clock exploring options to keep the show alive. Among them:

• A shared cable window. You know how USA gets first dibs on Law & Order: Criminal Intent originals, with the encores airing on the Peacock? Imagine a similar scenario with FNL and… ESPN, perhaps?

• Cost-cutting. Although how that could be achieved, I can't imagine. Already, FNL is relatively inexpensive to produce, and it's one of the smoothest-running shows on the air — not only did it survive the loss of exec producer Jason Katims to Bionic Woman for an extended period, it got 15 eps in the can pre-strike compared to other shows' 12 or 13.

• An altogether new home. If NBC dumps the show, the studio will likely shop it to other outlets like... ESPN, perhaps? Or maybe CW?

But of course the best-case scenario would be to keep FNL right where it is, operating exactly as it is. And for that to happen, it's going to need you. Heck, in this endeavor, we're all going to need each other. So let's do it: Let's build the audience. A demo rating above a 2.0 would make the show's renewal all but a sure thing. So tell everyone you've ever met (and their brother!) to tune in to tonight's season finale. And if they happen to have a Nielsen box, so much the better. We can do this. We will do this. Now go do this. — Additional reporting by Ben Katner

God I love this show. Seriously, this is one of two TV shows (the other non cable) that I will always watch when it comes on tv, no torrents, no tivo, nothing, i watch it live because i love it. Please don't let it go NBC

What a great episode, I was laughing my ass off at times. I don't like Smash going to Whitmore though, and I love how Saracen is all emo now.

Awesome finale...

if that's the last episode we really don't have too many dangling plot threads either besides Street's baby (but it's pretty obvious she'll say ok) and the fate of the Panther's season.

Yeah. If that's the last one ever, then it's got the second best Series Finale after Deadwood. Just absolutely perfect.

That was a Wilco track under the end, wasn't it?

As if it wasn't amazing enough?

Jesus, that was seriously beautiful.

I haven't seen it yet, but this had better not be the end. If it is, fuck the viewing public. They don't deserve this show. It's a shame. A real shame.

Damn I wish that last episode never ended =/

Great stuff, NBC better renew this and put it in a better time slot.

Unfortunately, no one watches it. That's the thing with shows. People have to watch them. We're NBC

Why put a show on a Friday night death schedule if you want people to watch it? Put FNL on a Tuesday night and people will watch it. Fox did the same bs with Firefly /disgusted

No they won't, unfortunately. NBC isn't stupid. If they thought it would draw viewers, believe me, it'd be up against Cashmere Mafia.

If an extremely average show like Jericho can get saved by its insane fans, why can't Friday Night Lights? They sent nuts to CBS. FNL fans can send used cars. That's right

Just caught up and i will be so pissed if this doesn't get picked up for season 3. The last few episodes have started to get the show back into groove with some truly satisfying character interactions, which had been lacking most of this season. I love this ensemble of characters SO MUCH and i'd hate for the show to go out when it is starting to build up again. This season has been disappointing for me, with its plentiful mediocre subplots and teen soap opera style developments, but the characters still do it for me and i am desperate to see more of them. :(

Tim and frakking Lyla have me completely charmed for gods sake and anyone who read my earlier comments will know that i hated them at the beginning of this season.

I thought episode 15 was a perfectly fine episode, but it does not sit well with me as a series ender AT ALL.

I found Peter Berg an absolute hoot, even though he was playing it a bit over the top. It was awesome to see Eric all jealous.

Please don't be the end...

No way!

LIGHT BULBS.

Lots and lots of light bulbs. You've got to think AD style.

With a lot of shows in the past, I've been so upset about them not being renewed for another season. If I had known how they would've bastardized all these characters I loved, I never would've wanted a second season.

As much as it pains me to say it, I very much hope that there is not a third season, and I'll just try to forget the second season, and watch season one on DVD over and over.

I'm guessing you didn't know, but NBC aired two more episodes past two weeks.

His point is that the last few episodes were excellent and somewhat redeeming of the rest of the season, and I do agree with that.
Oh, okay, because I really don't agree with that at all. They haven't been "dumping bodies off bridges" terrible, but the plot is still bad. The music, camera work, and acting (outside of Lyla) continues to be great, but I can't stand the plot anymore.

Mrs. Coach's old boyfriend appearing was like a cold open that lasted an entire episode. It had no signifigance whatsoever, it's just something to fill up space, it seemed.

Now that Riggins is done with his friend, Mr. Drug Dealer, his character seemingly has nowhere to go, and does the same thing every time we see him, it seems: chase after Lyla.

The one character on the show I've hated for the entire series, Lyla, continues to get crazy amounts of screentime, even though nothing she does is related to the rest of the show at all, except being chased by Tim. She has two facial expressions. Her mega-Christian boyfriend looks like he has down syndrome. And I don't give a fuck.

Matt, who was probably the best character last season, has been a very minor character all season. He's just sort of there, it seems, in most episodes. They cleaned up his Julie relationship, he went out with a creepy-faced chick, and got involved with a nurse who then drops off the face of the earth with almost no warning. Then, the writers tried to make him unlikeable by making him act completely out-of-character for an episode. Great.

Julie was a cool character last season, someone who seemed above most of the nonsense that went on in Dillon, and who more or less had a good head and had a lot more than an ounce of common sense. All season they've made her unlikeable, to the point where I changed the channel everytime her brat face appeared on the TV. In the past few episodes, she's had almost no role.

And let's not even discuss the convenient racism plot with Smash, or the idiotic treadmill that is the Landry-Tyra relationship.

I keep watching the show because I still love watching Mr. and Mrs. Coach, Smash is a good character, and Mother Smash is so wonderful I want to reach through the TV and give her a hug.

Even now, it's a better show than most of the shit on TV, but I really don't like where they're taking this show, and I hope NBC pulls the plug before my memories of FNL being great become a distant memory.

the disgruntled gamer said:

disgruntled indeed! Hearing that hurts, considering I don't really think the dip in quality is noticeable. I guess I just have to accept that I'm biased and too attached to the characters. I realize that S1 was better, but aside from the first 4 episodes of season 2, I still think this is one of the very best shows on TV.

The only subplot that really bothered me was the Matt/Mexican maid one. They finally got rid of that plotline with the grace with which the Lost producers cut the Nikki/Paulo story, so they weren't totally blind to its lameness. I gave them a mulligan on that. I'll also concede that Julie's character has basically been wasted this season. I buy what she's feeling, but it's not interesting TV, and it's never fun as a viewer to watch a likable character turn into a total ass (unless there's a payoff, which there hasn't/won't be).

Anyway, there is a silver lining. One show leaves, another enters. It's time to move on..and move on with style. Show me the ratings!

http://www.nbc.com/My_Dad_Is_Better_Than_Your_Dad/

The age-old question will finally be answered... Is My Dad Better Than Your Dad? Don't miss a moment of this action-packed family game show where dads battle it out in outrageous challenges and stunts. Whose dad is smarter? Faster? Stronger? Which dad knows his kids the best? You'll be in stitches when dads compete for money and neighborhood bragging rights.

And yet, every scene in which he does this shows a performance acumen barely ever seen from him in two seasons. ("Timothy!")

I was actually pretty impressed at how they closed out her storyline (potentially). It's not only dudes who want to fuck before marriage.

The same writers who give him his best scene in the series when Coach throws him in the shower?

Well, you've got me there.

Convenient? All signs were pointing to full speed ahead for Smash making it big time, and the racism plot was, to my mind, very realistically handled. And every character on the show agrees with you about Landry and Tyra.

My thoughts.
