Fun grindy rpg to play solo, maybe mmo suggestions?

Offbeat suggestion here but for a grindy rpg with a fun battle system, try Grandia Xtreme for PS2. There are tons of skills and combos to level, mana eggs to collect and combine, sidequests, and a 100 level bonus dungeon once you've beaten the game that will take quite some time to go through. The story is blah and the voice acting is amusingly bad so just put on some headphones, listen to some music or a podcast, and start grinding. I still pull this one out and play it from time to time.

If you are going to spend hours grinding, why not do it with beautiful vistas and a great soundtrack? Xenoblade.

Monster Hunter games are awesome too.

Honestly, I'm the same as you OP, I love grindy comfy games to just veg out and play. I've largely shifted these urges towards mobile though. They're playable in small chunks, almost ALWAYS a grind, and you can take it anywhere with you.

Check out the gacha thread and see if any of the games interest you. There's grind-a-plenty. I personally recommend Final Fantasy Brave Exvius if you were a fan of the old FF games.

This is why I wish .hack was easily accessible on any current gen system. Would love to just veg out and grind a little.

Try Musou games like Dynasty Warriors 8, Samurai Warriors 4, Warriors Orochi 3, One Piece Pirate Warriors 3 etc.
Shitton of content with characters/items to unlock and level up and very relaxing to play.

I am presently enjoying Persona 5 and man did I love Etrian Odyssey 4.

I'm not even a dungeon diver kinda guy, but there was something so relaxing about working through a dungeon with that stylus making a map.

If you're still taking suggestions and don't mind Anime games, Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization is about as laid back and grindy as they can get. It's structured like an MMO, and for the most part you can roam the land just grinding enemies.

I watched an entirety of a season of American Horror Story while playing this on my second screen. It's that kind of game.

Marvel Heroes is my go to for turning my mind off and grinding. There are around 60 heroes to level and gear, plus you can reset back to level 1 and do it again several times if you want.

I think something missing from many grindy rpgs is a level of randomness which makes them exciting.

The SaGa games i'd recommend romancing saga 3 (snes) or saga frontier (ps1) both games basically have pretty decent grind but you'll discover new moves and abilities partially by stats but also from chance.

final fantasy tactics is also insanely grindy as well so much so that you were pretty much required to use exp boosting abilities to make it less torturous.

You want a mindless grind, go play Black Desert online. There is a soft level cap and anything over that takes literally weeks and months to gain 1 level.

Oh yea, it's fun because combat is probably the best action in an MMO.

Path of Exile has already been mentioned but Warframe is the next best thing.

If you want singleplayer and since you like tactics games then maybe check out UnderRail? Lots of combat and exploration. It's a pretty sizable game too.

Gonna suggest Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. It feels like a SP MMO, has a great combat system and a very good loot system. Not enough ppl played it, imo.

Downsides: vanilla art direction and trite story.

It's a good grindy rpg that plays like a character action game. Just go in on Hard and you will be golden.

I've spent like 7.5 hours and its all been so dull and easy. I cant take it anymore tbh.
Ignore the story for now. Pick a weapon and go into the item world. Don't pick one to strong or you will get killed in one hit. Upgrade it until you can't beat the enemies anymore. Now equip it then pick an armor or accessory. Do the same. Keep doing this when you find better stuff. Since you don't really know what you are doing before you know it hours and hours will have passed. This doesn't even begin to scratch the grind in Disgaea but it is where I have the most fun.

Build a team until you can start getting super strong characters.

Xenoblade Chronicles X is a very large and grindy open world. Black Desert Online is very grindy and has great combat, a lot of Korean MMOs fit the grindy aspect. Diablo 3 is fantastic for grinding, loot and paragon levels.

Was wondering if more neogaffers abuse AFK in games?
Idle clickers B-spec mode in gran turismo.

I really enjoy these kind of games when i am doing work etc.

Currently i am "AFK" ing in MK11 on the xbox one. It was a bitch to set up.
But what i used was the ps4 hori fighting commander with a turbo button.
DS4windows and gamestreaming on windows 10 pc.

Then is set up MK 11 AI fighter noob saibot in endless tower mode. Basically grinding currency.
These days games esp games with unlocks are super grindy and i love using exploits to fight the system.

(i did the same with the casino game in dragon quest 11 s on the nintendo switch)

Anyway anyone that loves this AFK stuff? And what games do you recommend?
