Ok AnimeGaf I need some help. Been watching quite a bit of anime lately and trying to find funny or really cool action anime to watch. Preferably something dubbed but I'll also watched subbed too if that's the only way it comes. Now I am looking for something more funny overall but if its a great action anime as well I'll give it a try. Let me give you some examples of what I've seen recently or in the past.

LOVED
GTO (Best faces ever)
Golden Boy (Second best faces ever)
Dragon Ball ( all of it through GT)
Kenichi The Worlds Strongest (wish there was more besides the OVA's)
Attack on TItan (hilarious naked running)
Heavens Lost Property (ok, too much love triangle, great flying panties though)
My Bride is a Mermaid (loved the facial expression)
Trigun
Full Metal Alchemist
Samurai Champloo
Outlaw Star
Cowboy Bepop

Hated
Fairy tale
Soul Eater
Black Butler
High School Host Club
Legendary Heroes
Sekirei
Rasario + Vampire

Yes I know a lot of these are from Netflix, just easier to browse and gauge if I like something that way.

Anyways, if anyone has some recommendations I'd love to hear them and thanks so much.

Lets just get this out of the way:

Get your action fix with Hunter x Hunter. Great action and while its not a comedy its also a ton of fun

Welcome to the NHK is on Netflix and it became one of my favorite animes of all time. You and I have similar tastes(especially loving GTO) so I think you would really like it.

Have you watched Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood? I'm pretty sure it's up on Netflix. It's essentially a reboot of the original anime that follows the manga's storyline much more closely. Definitely worth a watch since you say you loved the original.

Also, Black Lagoon sounds right up your alley.

Gintama. You can watch it for free on Crunchyroll

It's mostly episodic comedy, but it has some serious arcs with some decent to great action later on (the first of these happens around 30+ ish episodes in). Just make sure you skip episode 1 and 2 on Crunchyroll (it's filler trash), and know that it takes a while for the show to get really good

JoJo's Bizzare Adventure is pretty awesome.

Seconding this. Just make sure it's the 2012 version, not Stardust Crusaders (unless you already watched the first season/series). Similarly the first few episodes aren't that great (well maybe episode 1 is) but it gets really good when the show hits Part 2

A few from me.

- Keroro Gunsou/Sgt. Frog (This is my favourite anime. It has a platoon of alien frogs who attempt to invade Earth but end up working for a human family. Loads of comedy and skits and bits of action here and there) [78 episodes dubbed/358 episodes]
- Baka and Test (A school where people's test scores are the power used in RPG style battles. Loads of comedy in this one, not as much action though) [Dub available]
- Level E (An alien of a distant planet decides to screw around with people on Earth and cause mischief.) [Dub available]

I watched the first episode and was uninterested, does it pick up?

Thanks for the recommendations so far

Gintama basically has everything you're asking for. It's fucking hilarious and occasionally has action, and when it does it's terrific.

edit: beaten but rec still stands. It's one of my favorite animes.

I second the Gurren Laggen motion. I also put forward Blue Exorcist, which I think has some very funny sequences while having some top-notch action scenes. It's very well animated too.

Some more that are not mentioned: School Rumble, daily lives of high school boys, sket dance, and more recently d-frag! and tonari no seki-kun. All comedies with little to no action, well action that isn't a gag. All are great.

Funny/Action? Kill La Kill if you don't mind the fanservice

Yu Yu Hakusho would be my recommendation for action/humor, it's like an amazingly better version of Dragonball Z, and even saying that is doing it a massive disservice.

What I came to post. It starts slow and the characters take time to grow on you, but when they do it becomes one of the funniest series I've ever seen.

Nichijou is also one of the funniest and most ridiculous things ever, but it's not action. For a mix of those two, I thought the comedy in Hellsing was fucking weird and funny as shit.

You want an action anime with a sense of humour?

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Seen these, Yu yu Hakusho is awesome.

I'll have to check out this Gintama and black lagoon since its getting so many recommendations. I'll also check out the others you guys have posted so far. Thanks a bunch, keep them coming if you have more.

Also it doesn't have to be Comedy/Action. It can be one or the other, i've just been in a comedy mood lately. I'll watch one combined of the two, or separate, as long as it's good.

Baccano has action and comedy and is very good all around is available dubbed on legal streaming sites in the US, I would definitely recommend it.

If by "Full Metal Alchemist" you mean non-Brotherhood one, watch brotherhood.
One piece is probably out of the question, since you hated Fairy Tail and the little fact that we're 550something episodes in.

Jojo should break you in two. Watch that, we can talk the rest later.

There are three different Full Metal Panic series. Watch all of them.

FMP and FMP: The Second Raid tell one complete action/drama story. The Second Raid is better than vanilla FMP, but they're both still pretty great.

While FMP Fumoffu is just a balls-out high school comedy. Anime rarely makes me laugh, but I'm in stitches every time I watch this series.

I'd recommend Full Metal Panic. The main series is funny and has pretty good action, and although it's been a while since I've watched the whole thing the first story arc (six or seven episodes?) held up pretty well. And as a bonus, if you watch even one episode you'll have enough context to watch Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu, which is the funniest anime I've seen. I think the nature of the show's humor translates a lot better than most anime comedy.

fake edit since I took a long time typing this post:
For hilarity, look no further than...

Yes, seen both FMA, One piece has been constantly amazing, I keep up with the manga on that one because of how awesome it is. Several people have said JoJo, I should check it out too. Looks bizarre, thats always good.

Pretty standard pull, but Code Geass is genuinely very good. The second season has some really rough shit, but also takes it all to the next level and it's a legitimately entertaining series.

Kuroko no Basket is fucking awesome, made me legitimately more interested in basketball. I highly recommend it.

Claymore is outstanding, but the anime cuts off and you'll have to go over the manga afterwards, but it's still awesome throughout.

Air Master is a parody of a ton of anime and is just generally ridiculous throughout.

S-Cry-Ed is a JoJo derivative, and by derivative I mean they essentially stole every aspect of the series from JoJo's. That's not a bad thing, though, as it's a really good series.

Beelzebub is a ton of fun.

Durarara is anime Pulp Fiction, if that does anything for you.

So many recommendations, at least I have plenty to sort through now. Thanks a bunch again guys. I'll check out each and every one at some point.

Beelzebub is a ton of fun.

I kinda disagree, when it comes to the anime at least.

Too much dumb, unnecessary filler episodes that don't add anything to the show. and the animation/visual style is kind of crappy too. Also that anime-original ending may be one of the most terrible endings I've ever watched.

The only good things from the anime are the OP's that it provided (they're all great, except for that stupid one where they're freefalling) and that it makes some of the manga's moments even more hilarious (like that volleyball match). I guess it'd make a decent intro to the manga (since I started with the anime too) but I wouldn't really recommend it; if you have the choice, just go with the manga. If not, then I guess it's on Crunchyroll (just don't expect too much)

Cowboy Bepop

This has it's humor but it's universe is very well grounded and established and takes itself seriously with the stories.

I wouldn't call it a comedy/funny anime in the slightest.

Not like Kill La Kill, now that's throwaway watch once "ha ha" sort of thing.

I actually really liked the filler episodes, they felt similar to Gintama in terms of "Here's a random plotline, let's see how it plays out." The animation I actually like because of the simplicity and I really liked the characters. The OPs are pretty good, though.

Inferno Cop
Inferno Cop
Inferno Cop
Garzey's Wing (dub only for ultimate experience)
Code Geass (more action than comedy but it's a ride)
Inferno Cop
Gunsmith Cats

You should watch INFERNO COP

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Hunter x Hunter
Tiger and Bunny
Air Gear is pretty good too, but the anime cuts severely short of the manga.

I might even say give Katekyo Hitman Reborn a try, but I'm not sure if you would like it.

Also, I'm not sure if you like to read Manga, but the Kenichi manga is still going strong if you really want more.

Edit: If you're looking for a straight up comedy, try Nichijou. I haven't seen it myself, but a friend has shown me clips, and they're hilarious.

Co sign all of these. Also, try One Piece. I've never laughed so much with an anime that's run for over 600 episodes.

For a mix of comedy and action I quite liked:

Hajime no Ippo
Tengan Toppa Gurren Lagan
Gintama

I also quite like xxxHOLIC though it took a while to get over the odd stretched character style.
