Furious 7 |OT| One Last GIF!

God I hope I have a crowd as good as the Avengers one I went too back in '12.

Avengers is still one of my top favorite crowds ever. The other tops would be Star Wars Episode II (the Matrix Reloaded trailer and Yoda fight got the place electrified) and Fast & Furious 6. The opening show crowd for Furious 6 was a lot of fun, and also the most diverse crowd I have been in. The audience pop when Statham showed up at the end was great.

Quick question: Can I go in, having really only seen 1, 2 and Tokyo Drift? Will I miss anything otherwise?
What about if I drag my g/f along (who hasn't seen any)?

I swear I heard something that there might be another movie. Maybe I'm tripping. In either case, already got tickets and waiting.

In interviews this week, Vin has talked about part 8.
How Kurt Russell will have a bigger part and it will take place in NYC.

Can't wait, wifey and I marathoned most of the old ones last weekend in preparation. It's going to be a sad send off for sure I bet..

Oh, definitely. This series prints money and (ending spoilers):

I mean to me it was obvious Jason Statham is going to return in the future. My guess is he is released from prison by Kurt Russell or some other government type guy to do a job for him, but then of course he has his own agenda. I think he will be re-united with his brother at some point.

More random thoughts after watching this, spoilers:

- I wish Shaw (Statham) would've gone after someone else instead of Dom the whole time and kill them before going after Dom (maybe Tyrese Gibson or Ludacris as they seem they could be replaced easily in the films). This could've added some more weight to his threats.
- Still really disliked the drone chase in LA. Messy and I hated how Hobbs just rams his ambulance in it, crashes the drone, and just walks away.
- Wish Tony Jaa was in it some more.
- The hacking stuff was lame.
- Djimon Hounsou felt underused as well. He wasn't really developed as a character and I think he could really carry a villain role on his own.
- Paul Walkers goodbye and final scenes were great. The moment they drove away and split was fantastic. Well done.

Tattooed race starter girl was hot too:

How much screen time did Lucas Black even get?
Heard he was only in one scene?

GODDAMMIT, fuck me running this movie was beautiful. I thought they couldn't top Fast 6, and I tempered my expectations as much as I could, but I was grinning ear to ear within the first fifteen seconds of the movie. Absolutely incredible.

I wish the Ronda fight had had a second round after they tumble off the balcony, I wish Tony Jaa had escaped the elevator shaft and come back for more, but I wish every other action scene had gone on longer, too. The setpieces go on for so long, and they just get crazier and crazier that I never wanted them to end. And those gorgeous flip-the-camera-upside-down shots filled me had my hype levels at maximum every goddamn time :P

RIP Paul Walker. That was a genuinely touching tribute to him.

For those who have watched the movie:

Apparently the music from Jetpack Joyride is used in the film somewhere. Did anyone hear it, and could they describe the scene for me? :)

Personally I think the bigger action scenes is pretty draggy
although the final scene is really raw emotion. Still think I can't find any flaw with CGI Paul Walker face. It is well done.

I think is the part where Ludacris' character playing a game on his smartphone.

it was allright, not as fun as Fast Five. And it was 30 minutes too long, 2h20mins duration just slowed it to a crawl sometimes.

They could have cut:
The assault on the steelmill, half of the final battle on the streets with the stupid as hell God's Eye.

saw it yesterday, liked it much more than the awful 6th one.

pacing is a lot better, the action scenes (while still over the top and unrealistic) are much better than the stupid air catch and endless runway. but 2 scenes come close...

film is too long, at least 2 scenes (1. girl on girl fight was awful. bad camera work and shaky cam bullshit. 2. the
factory in dubai
should have been cut. also the final action set-piece is way too long and relies too much on cg.

the story at this point, is just a flatout parody on james bond/agent films. on one hand, the film doesnt take itself serious at all, but then you have the super heavy emotional scenes, which do not work at all (aside from the paul walker stuff). if they do a sequel, they should just ditch the emotional bullshit and go fucking crazy (or hire a writer that gets the stuff/tone right).

most action scenes are top notch, too bad some of the best stuff was spoiled in the trailers.

the paul walker stuff: the cg they did on his face is not awful, its pretty well done but it is noticeable very often. in a lot of scenes they do their best to hide his face or show him from far away. not great, but they had no other options. the way they handled
his exit was fucking amazing. people cried.
because of all that, brian feels more like a side character in this film.

overall i liked it, much better than the 6th, slightly worse than number 5. tokyo drift remains king.

You lost me completely there, Tokyo Drift is bottom 3 in ratings for FF

Still, cameos like that are pretty interesting. I remember when vin diesel was spoiler tagged for tokyo drift.

It's been known for awhile though that he was in it, and we knew he didn't play a big role.

Solid movie. The ending ending was well done too. It doesn't top Fast Five though, nonetheless plenty of solid escapist entertainment, drama was a little a soapy/cheesy as always but in a weird way that's part of the charm I guess at this point plus character drama is always good in my book.

The action sequence in the middle in the forest is pretty phenomenal.

Also btw these movies are now superhero movies essentially. Even tonally a lot of it is like The Avengers also now that I think about it reminded me of Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol.

Just bought my tix. Thank god for theaters that let you pre select your seats. Standing in line is for fucking Neanderthals. The wifey and I watched 5 last week (my favorite) and we're watching 6 tonight. Huge fan of the series, I find it's evolution so interesting and something you never really see in film. Thinking of different maneuvers I can employ to avoid people seeing me cry.

Waiting for my friend to watch 4-5-6 before going is killing me lol

also, fuck i'm getting emotional only by reading reviews, wth

Dat beach scene. Y'all know the one. Mother of gawd.

That Grey Worm is a lucky guy.

Can't even find a suitable gif for what the booty had me like. In a movie that's probably roughly 15% jiggly butt shots, that scene was something else. Good Lord.

After today, my personal Fast and/or Furious Tier List goes:
Furious 7
Fast 6
Fast 5
Tokyo Drift
Fast & Furious (I could go back and forth with Tokyo Drift on this one, though)
The first one (aka Point Break with cars)
2 Cuz 2 Breh-rious

Seeing it tomorrow night with some friends here in Korea, pretty excited.

Tokyo Drift is my favorite of the series so far, 2F2F is my least favorite.

Lucas Black's scene is hilarious.
They re-use footage from the end of Tokyo Drift (the final scene where Dom shows up for the race, complete with Lil Bow Wow), then cut straight to new footage shot specifically for this movie to continue that scene, so Lucas ages nine years between shots :P

Well,
they do make a point to say it's not a 10 second race and that they have nothing but time.
