Future Press aren't doing the Dark Souls 3 guide

I guess the upside to this, as others have mentioned, is that ENB gets to go in blind and offer a fresh perspective.

Just out of interest, are non-blind playthroughs considered popular at all? I mean, from people who know the game well (in both a mechanical and contextual sense), and maybe talk retroactively over their playthrough of it. Perhaps those with extra insight about the games?

I realise the community building interpretations and forming strategies together is a big part of these games, especially in the early stages. But just curious about thoughts on here about more "informed" Let's Plays and the like.

Yeah kinda sucks we lost the rights to Prima, especially since we worked on the previous games

We have other games lined up to work on (don't ask what lol) but it would have been nice to work on DS3 to round off the trilogy

Playing non blind, ironically blinds you of how you play and interprete the world, like choosing your started weapon according to a guide would be an awful experience because you are not using the weapon you like but the weapon the guide recommends you or going directly to X zone because that the weapon that will help you instead of actually trying the remaining weapons.

Some people just use the guides and videos to finish the game and move to another game. I think its really hard to form your own view of the game if you already watched lore viden when you are still not connected the dots by yourself like you have that guy thinking but not your own and some people just link the video instead of writing his/her conjeture.

I think my main compain about the BB guides is there is interesting information you wont be know if you dont own the guide because the game wont tell you about, its like Destiny visit Bungie.net to know about the story but this time you have to pay real money to know if the Loran Dark Beast is the origin of the tonitrus and Paarl

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

This is such a bummer... All of those guides are phenomenal and the only collector's items I still bother with. Guides in general are a relic of the past thanks to the internet and wikis but these guides were so lovingly crafted they gave fans a good reason to buy them regardless. They are compendiums of knowledge covering some of my all time favorite games. It's hard to express how disappointing this is. :(

People are conflating ENB with Future. He was one of many people working on the previous guides. There's no cause and effect between him deciding not to work on the guide and Future not doing the guide. He wasn't going to do the guide even if Future did.

Fuck, man.

All the spines match and everything.

Just make the demon's souls remaster spine lineup as well, please :)

I liked the BB guide best when it isn't actually, erm.. being a guide. I found it almost impossible to follow text and intricate maps while playing. If I really did need to find something, a quick YouTube was usually preferable. The only maps I used were the basic overview of a level ones and the sections giving me a checklist of what to do on each level (all on a second playthrough, first is always blind).

That sucks, I have the Souls hardcover guides. Even though the weapon info is outdated, I like the maps and artwork included. You can tell a lot of care was put into those guides.

I LOVE your guides so, so much.

Please be making Bloodborne 2 and Demon's Souls Remastered guides.

Yeah, as much as I loved his behind the scenes insight (no pun intended), seeing a blind let's play from him would be much better for DS3.

He already announced that he will go off the internet at some point before DS3. Total blackout to play it blind. Looking forward to it. I never figure anything out on my first playthroughs :D I just play it for the atmosphere and gameplay. And afterwards I read up on what the hell is going on.

About the guide: Sad that it will be a different company. I have the DS2 Collector's Edition guide (amazing guide) and a similar DS3 guide would be great. Let's see how the new one will compare to it.

Hopefully that means an epic blind walkthrough from EpicNameBro. His Dark Souls 1 walkthroughs were amazing.

Honestly, I would prefer this.

I don't want to take anything away from the livelihoods of ENB and AGermanSpy, but it's obvious that their involvement with the guidebooks affected their output when it came to Dark Souls II and Bloodborne video content.

The Future Press guides are incredible productions, but I would much rather have great videos from those two guys than a book.

I have the Bloodborne guide and it's well worth the money. Very well produced.
I'd have bought the DS3 one in a heartbeat if they did it.

A little off-topic, isn't the lack of news about DS3 a bit weird? I feel like we knew much more about Bloodborne at this stage.
I'd actually love it if it will be featured in IGN First next month like Bloodborne was or something along those lines.

I picked up the Prima guide for Xenoblade Chronicles X, that was a Huge waste of money and time, most useless guide I have ever seen.

Only thing that was any good in it was the maps showing where to gather stuff from and I found those online before I even bought the guide, the whole guide looked like it just copied text straight from the game for quests and such, nothing telling you how to do or where to go just Bob wants you to go kill Fuzzy Rats 5x, Thanks Prima.

As for the Future Press guides, I am a bit sad to hear DS3 wont have one, I was buying them all even though I would still do a blind play through first, I think they are nice books over all, just a shame the nature of souls games means some info might be outdated after a few patches.

The guide really is terrible. There is almost nothing useful that was not already prominently displayed in the quest menu within. The guide does not even contain any meaningful strategy. It feels like they just dumped the quest objective text and hit print.

I do not recommend giving Prima the benefit of the doubt on their future guides.

A bit late of a reply but they also held back a ton of info on bloodborne. Most of the trailers focused on early gwme bosses and fire dog from the chalice dungeon. Personally I think that's the way to go. Dark Souls 1 trailer spoiled so much come to think of it.
