(G/A/F?) So black friday at walmart... fights are breaking out.

get used to it. It's here to stay.

And no one is going to stop it.

I can see it getting to a point where a majority of people shop online. Most of my friends do all their holiday shopping online. My parents generation and older still don't trust shopping online or just don't "get it."

They always show a 5min news item about the Black Friday sales over here, it definitely doesn't help the image problem you guys have overseas. Fighting over some shitty deals is a really weird concept to me.

Nope not going to catch on. Brick and Mortar is here to stay. And always will be.

My mom went shopping with my aunt once on Black Friday. She said it wasn't too crowded, but she wouldn't want to do it again. She does nearly all of her Christmas shopping on Amazon now.

I'll never understand why people get so crazy over this, you could find deals that just as good on Amazon, and you don't have to stay up all night and fight for your life.

Sales starting at 6pm is pretty ridiculous. At the one I work, a lot of overnight workers actually had to get off work at 7am today and go back in at 5:30pm. Barely enough time to even get a good sleep, much less actually have thanksgiving dinners or whatever.

my brother works there and after he ate he had to go right to work.. dude left around 3pm.

Or they shop retail to support the local economy and keep jobs in the area.

Wal-mart doesn't pay great, obviously, but what happens when retail is dead and only Amazon exists? They'll have a handful of similarly low paying jobs in shipping centers, in some cases in really bad working conditions.

Beyond that, a lot of people don't shop online because they can't. Part of the reason people get so excited for Black Friday is they don't have computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, and Black Friday is a way for them to be within their reach in the first place.

Especially at Wal-mart, where they offer layaway plans.

Fucking savages.

More people need to learn about Slickdeals.net...and just stay home with that, along with the knowledge that retailers will be clearing out merchandise throughout the next few weeks.

I can only hope that enough videos get posted and enough bad publicity ensues so that these fucking retailers will knock this shit off.

They are creating riot situations in their own stores and I don't know how they haven't been sued up to this point.

i completely agree with this.

If this were the case Denny's would have been forced to close up shop long ago.

Why do people always try to be different? People treat conformity and homogeny as though they're negatives. We wake up every day in our homes and flip our light switches and expect that light to turn on. We get in our cars and get where we need to in a safe and coordinated manner. These things are possible because we live in a society with rules. Rules and the fact that people follow them makes it possible for us to live life relatively safely and at a much higher quality than Somalia. You OP want to turn G/A/F into Somalia just so you can be witty. Now I'm not going to speak on whether or not you were successful with your failed attempt; I won't speak of it. However, I can confidently say that no amount of wit is worth the benefits we gain from following the rules and conforming to the status quo. You OP are shaking the boat and seem to be prepared to throw away all that G/A/F has worked hard to create and that's not fair to everyone else. You OP are the lax contractor who cut corners when a home is being built robing someone the opportunity to wake up. You OP are the guy who shows up drunk at work at the hydro electricity plant and flips the wrong switch leaving the city without power. You OP are the guy who decides to make a turn without signaling and plows into on-coming traffic endangering everyone. Your selfishness knows no bounds. Just look at you... trying to pull a China: "Derp... I declare this A now means this even though everyone else things it something different. . Duuuh (I'm the OP); Don't tell me I'm wrong because I decided I'm going to break the rules and still think its ok. Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu *drool*" Just fantastic OP, hope you're proud of the damage you've wroth.

I had to work today.

Some old lady spit in my face over the fact I couldn't magically go in back and pull out another bike for her because the one she wanted was out of stock.

I hate walmart.

Damn this shit needs to stop. It's such a disgusting practice on what is supposed to be a significant national holiday.

Go home, hipbabboom...

They come out tonight, the beasts.

Fucking spoiled, self-centered monsters. None shall shop peaceful.

I would like to just be there with a tazer and use it on the people who start shit. I would honestly pay good money for permission to do that.

G/A/F coming back in thread titles with a vengeance lately haven't they?

Anyways, I strolled into Target and it didn't seem chaotic thank god. Didn't check out any other store tho.

I wonder if we will have a problem this morning cause my parents fridge went out yesterday and we need to buy a mini fridge before the day is over.

I do battle on Black Friday. The only difference between me and them is that I do battle with the F5 key.

You couldn't pay me to work on Black Friday if I were an employee there, nor could you pay me to show up and risk getting trampled for not-that-steep discounts on crap Amazon discounts all the time anyway.

G/A/F:

Germany, if it's related to scat or some weird sexual shit
Australia, if it's some freaky animal
Florida for all other crazy shit

Follow this rule and you'll always guess right

They should have armed guards watching the lines and distributing the items..........or get FEMA to do it

My local Target had some police officers in the electronics section and one at the entrance/exit in addition to store security. Everyone behaved pleasantly while I was there.

don't worry give it a bit and it'll be a global holiday and we can share the embarrassment together

Boy, you're really fucking classy, aren't you? Bet you bail on the topic now too.

Classy because I don't get into a fist fight with someone over a $30 TV? Relatively speaking i suppose i am, though I am not particularly classy myself.

If you disagree about people fighting like animals over scraps is trashy, we can just agree to disagree.

If you think I was calling everyone who shops at Walmart trash, then you simply misread my post as it wasn't specific enough.

The people spitting in worker's faces and fighting each other over cheap garbage are trashy/trash. People shopping at Walmart are people who shop at Walmart.

The trash that shop at Walmart are the problem with Black Friday fights. That much is probably true (though I can imagine a few arguments against this stance that blame the structure of the sales and the method of dispensation of the products).

My original statement made it seem like I was generalizing that all Walmart shoppers are trash.

But get angry. Just try not to get angry like I am trying to take a $25 tablet from you. Because then shit would get real. And i am not built for that. My pedicure might get scuffed or me top hat might get crushed.

At some point I want to go to one of these things. Not to buy things but to push people around in the big crowds, taking their items. It would be hilarious.

Let those dumbasses wreck each other. That's just good times on Youtube at the end of the day

I'm more upset that the stores make their employees work ungodly hours on Thanksgiving. It's inhumane. That's not how you treat your people

Why bother putting GAF? I'm pretty sure North America is the only place that does black friday as a sales thing.
Shops here (UK) are desperately trying to turn it into a thing. I woke up this morning to half a dozen emails from different retailers, trying to get me to check out their Black Friday deals.

You gotta fight for your right to shop hereeeee

@NekoFever: same thing is spreading on continental Europe...

Was playing Left4Dead2 with some friends. We stopped at a safe house and we took a water break. I alt tabbed and spent $300 on Amazon in like 5 minutes. I think I had a better Black Friday than most at Walmart.

Sometimes I like to go into a Walmart just to see how the "normal" folks live their lives. It's interesting.

It just seems so alien to me that people are that desperate to buy things (even if they are cheaper then normal) I have never wanted something that badly I guess

Can we be serious for a second? Go over to gaming side. Pages and pages in threads and threads about deals and sales that save people a couple bucks. Sure, they're not fighting in the middle of a store, but people still camping their computer monitors, clicking f5 nonstop, getting angry that a deal got pushed back or wasn't what they thought. They're just as thirsty.

Yep, we even have a big black Friday thread in this very sub-forum.
