GAF, help me build out my PS3 backlog

I was in a similar position, I have been on the PC this entire generation, but Sony has truly impressed me. I began picking up some PS3 releases on Craigslist or from retailer sales over the past few months, and will be getting the Black Friday PS3 bundle this upcoming week.

I focused on the best of the best console exclusive games.

What I have so far
Demon Souls
Red Dead Redemption
Uncharted 2
Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection
Vanquish
God of War Saga

Need to Pick up
Last of Us (Comes with the Black Friday PS3 Bundle)
Zone of the Enders HD
Journey
Shadow of the Colossus

MGS Legacy Collection! I've completely forgot that! THIS IS A MUST BUY!

My suggestions: No More Heroes: Heroes Paradise, Killer is Dead and Tokyo Jungle

Ctrl + F

No Hard Corps: Uprising?

I rather play that than some of the better known roguelike platformers on PC. What a pity.

It was actually mislabeled at Walmart yesterday for $20, was in the Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City section.

Associate ended up giving it to me at that price.

inFamous is a must, 2 is also good.
Metal Gear Solid 4
Uncharted
Demon's Souls
Burnout Paradise
Journey
Red Dead Redemption
Vanquish
Valkira Chronicles
The Last of Us
God of War III

why do people want backlogs? serious question. just finish the game you already have then go on to another one when finished, not to mention you could be saving/spending shit loads of money on something more important

So you have a game to go onto when you finish one? So you can acquire the games now rather than try to hunt them down later when they may be harder to find? Maybe OP should have said "library" instead of "backlog" to avoid the connotations of the latter, but that substitution wouldn't really address your objection.

If you like RPG's but not full blown ones then perhaps consider Ni-No-Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch.

It is an RPG however it is particularly easy for an RPG too. I'm personally more of a fan of when these sort of games provide bucket loads of content set at almost unattainable goals. Ni No Kuni satisfied none of those desires but at the same time was a solid game well worth a playthrough. Even the post game boss is easy which is unusual for these sort of games.

You will however need to be able to appreciate a game that taps into a child-like charm rather than what we're accustomed to being offered nowadays.

Honerable mention: Heavenly Sword

Edit: Just realized that fantasy is not your thing, disregard my whole post lol

Well your post has made me put Ni No Kuni on my radar ~ wasn't ever interested in it before reading it.

This. Also I don't necessarily consider my "backlog" to be games I own that I haven't played yet. Maybe that's how people universally think of it; if that's the case my bad. The goal here is to build a list of prospective games to check out, and I will pick them up if/when I find a good deal etc.

Play Uncharted 2, skip Uncharted 3 (would've told you to skip U1 as well but too late, I guess)
Red Dead Redemption (get the GOTY Edition with Undead Nightmare included)
3D Dot Game Heroes
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen (expansion that includes the original game on the disc)
Demon's Souls
Vanquish
Valkyria Chronicles
Nier (do some research before you jump into it and know what you're getting into)
Shadows of the Damned
El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron
InFamous Collection (Both games plus the standalone side story which are all fun to play)
ICO & Shadow of the Colossus HD Collection
Red Faction Guerilla (exists on PC but ...GFWL so in this rare case console > PC)
Resonance of Fate (depends on how much you like interesting twists on JRPGs but if you do I say go for it)

And I guess The Last of Us, though I haven't played that yet myself

Is PS3 Twisted Metal any good?

Ha. I had no clue they were even still making those.

On topic, looks like a friend at work as the Ico + Shadow of the Colossus disc. Will borrow at some point. Saw BeyondTS in redbox today, but decided to pass since I have enough to play right now. Will buy later down the line.
