People in America have been brain washed to think the only way to get ahead is to work 50-60+ hours a week and only take days off when someone dies. Add "right to work" laws, which should actually be called "right to be fired for any damn reason imaginable" law, many Americans fear for their job when they take personal time off work. There is always some schmuck who will work for less and hardly take days off.

Brainwashed? No. I want to work extra hours and use my vacation sparingly because I'm ambitious. It would work the same in any reasonable country where you can get ahead by working hard and not by nepotism or other factors.
As opposed to just not showing up?
As fucked as the US labor laws are, I'm pretty sure you can't get in "trouble" for taking sick days.
If that's true, get a new fucking job.
Oh by the way, to answer your question, only pussies take days off.

I took of the day of the press conferences and completely regretted it. I felt like the biggest waste of space sitting on that couch all day long, and quite honestly there just wasn't enough exciting stuff to feel like it warranted the day off. I could have watched most of it at work.
But yeah, I love taking my vacation and sick days. Fun stuff.
I'm trying to go in the next hour or so. Hopefully the first bar I have in mind is showing the game. Don't feel like walking around inebriated in hot weather.
