Why would you do that? said:
Well, thanks everyone for answering the UPS question. USPS flat rate sounds like the way to go for me (though I'll miss the tracking number...)

You can get tracking for USPS packages, and if it's going international, it's already going to automatically have a tracking number.

For US delivery, feel free to ask the postal agents - they'll help you through the process as well as tell you all about the different ways to mail your stuff out.

How will you go about pairing people? Do you do it by hand, or will you use a computer program of sorts to randomly do it?

Also, what about lost packages?

Sorry of these are simple questions, but I've not really shipped anything before (outside of putting a printed UPS/FedEx label with a tracking number on a box and dropping it off) so yeah.

I'll be using a program.

Lost shipments are tricky since then someone doesn't get a gift (duh lol). Of course I can understand that this will sometimes happen and won't count it against you. We will just have to work it out when the time comes. You may want to have something to prove that you shipped it though just to be on the safe side.

I'll go for this, should be fun.

In this thread I would like you to post:

A. I will ship internationally yes.
B. I'm in England.
C. I have a PS3 which is obviously region free, a PAL 360, PS2 that can play imports, and a DS and PSP. Aside from that I'm a massive music fan, mostly metal and rock. Any strange or cool stuff from your piece of the world would be welcome too!

A: Anywhere
B: Live in Austria
C: i like Videogame Swag (Shirts -> XL). I'm also a SciFi Nerd, have a 360 but i'm mostly a PC Gamer.. Also please No Games/DVD's. i would love some Candy from your Country.

A. Willing to ship internationally
B. USA
C. Surprise me. If you need ideas though:

I am currently deeply engrossed in the Harry Potter universe. I have all the books but am waiting for all the movies to be finished so I can get an inevitable uber ultimate bluray collection of all of them.

If you're thinking of something gaming related, I have a backwards compatible PS3, 360, Wii, and DS Lite. None of them can play non US games, except for the DS Lite which naturally isn't region locked.

I'm 26 and male, if that helps. I wear size L shirts

I'm not 100% sure if I'm going to move by then, so I'll wait until closer to the deadline to sign up.

Also, I think you should post the blacklist from last year. It got pretty ridiculous.

I forgot to sign up last year so im hopping on the bandwagon now :)

A. I'll ship anywhere
B. US
C. I have access to all the consoles and portables, except the psp, but i'd prefer something not gaming related. Im more into photography related things or something cool and quirky from where you are. Im also a huge Daft Punk fan but I already have all the CD's :D. I'd love anything really so go nuts and have fun with it!

A. I'll ship anywhere, but preferably in Europe.
B. UK
C. I'm an avid musician (Guitar and Drums) and love sports. More specifically I love Football and American Football. Supporting Manchester United and the San Diego Chargers respectively. Make of that what you will.

A.) Will Ship Internationally
B.) U.S.A.
C.) I can play games on Xbox 360, DS and hopefully will have a PSP GO by Nov. I like RPG's, also like XBL and PSN point cards. Collect Transformers, comics and like weird stuff, especially if international.

Always wanted to do this (always do the Candy swap)

A - Will ship internationally
B - Ireland
C - I've got a PS3, Xbox and Wii also licks the blu-ray, but you need time to watch and play games and thats something I dont have much of lately.
In short anything you want to send would be cool, just getting something random from GAF will do me

A. Will ship internationally.
B. Greece
C. I'll appreciate anything but I would like something from your country. My gaming platforms are PC and Wii (I like RPGs and Adventures), but I'm also interested in anime and manga.I would also like a book(english only) mostly fantasy or sci-fi. Just try to be creative. Also would like some candy from your country.Age 25 size L if this helps any further.

A. I'll ship to US/Canada
B. I'm in the US
C. I have a XBOX 360 (GT: Saerk Wren) and a decent PC. I enjoy nerdy tech things, cultural items, video games, Chargers fan, board games, or whatever surprise.

What is the average cost to ship things internationally? Is the shipping cost included in the amount we spend or is that extra?

At times it could be as much as the gift itself. And it is extra.

Yeah, it kind of sucks. I think it cost me over $20 to ship to Canada last year (didn't care about that). The part that pissed me off was I had a bitch of a postal worker that day and she forced me to write exactly what was in the box even though they were wrapped xmas presents.

Moral of the story: shipping is extra, not part of the $30. Don't be surprised if you end up dropping around $50 on this excursion, but it's definitely worth it if you ask me.

You're going to have fun no matter what, but it also comes down to who your santa is that seals your fate. I mean you can get anything from a box of pure awesomeness, a dvd from the $5 walmart bin, or nothing.

Alright, count me in, please.

A. I'll ship internationally
B. I'm in the US
C. I have a PS3, DSphat, Wii, PSP, decent PC. No clue what of those are region locked; I haven't tried importing, and don't speak any languages which aren't English (at least, none very well). I'd also enjoy video game or otherwise nerdy merchandise--figures, wallscrolls, T-Shirts (XL). I dabble in anime and manga.

A. Will not ship outside of USA
B. USA
C. Likes: Would like a used PS3 game COUGHHOTSHOTSGOLF/EVERYBODY'SGOLFCOUGH
Blu-Rays are a plus. I like Horror and Comedy. I love Japanese candy/snacks as well.

Doesn't work that way.

OP said:
A. Will you ship outside of your country. If you're unwilling to ship internationally, don't expect to get an international Secret Santa.

LOOOOOONG time lurker, but would enjoy participating this year.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A: I will ship anywhere
B: Live in USA
C: Have a new PS3. To date, have not bought and Blu-rays, so this could be a good start (like horror, sci-fi comedy, etc - more details if needed). Enjoy different candy from outside US (gummy, sour, chocallate - probably anything but licorrice), reading, anything unique, etc.

I missed last year, but I'm totally back on this thing this year!

A) I will ship internationally.
B) I'm in Finland (that's in Europe, in case you didn't know :P)
C) I would love some double-stuf Oreos, but I guess the coolest thing would be something for a baby. Me and my wife are having our firstborn in April, and it would be cool to get some sort of video-game related stuff for our tyke in advance. If you can't come up with anything else, I do own every this-gen console and handheld, but please keep in mind any regional issues.

I would advise people to keep this in mind:

If you are only thinking about this thing from the perspective of getting something, don't do it. The coolest part is seeing your Tiny Tim post about his present on GAF and making someone happy.

And if you intend to sign up and not send anything, I'd like to hand you a big fuck you in advance.

Well, I believe I just pmed everyone that hasn't sent me their info yet. If I made mistake sending you a pm then please disregard.

A. Will ship internationally, but preferably within North America
B. USA

How well did this work last year? Did the majority of people get their gifts?
I got my gift (though the shipping took a while) and I think most people got their presents. A few didn't, which is a shame, but it was less than the previous year. Still, half the fun is finding a present for your giftee and seeing the photos of them unwrapping it.

A. Will ship internationally
B. Toronto, Canada
C. I dont want any games, I rather get something music/movie related or some nice clothes. or something to help me get women lol

This is really exciting! I can't wait. My first adult Secret Santa. :D

A. Will only ship inside the USA
B. USA

- 1GB ram (1.8 volts 240-Pin PC6400 DDR2 800 SDRAM) (edit: RAM was below/near $30 when posted but it looks like prices have went up)

If you don't want to get any of the above, here are general things I'd like:
- educational graphic design books
- healthy cookbooks (I already own The Healthy College Cookbook)
- home accessories/furniture
- Princess Mononoke (already own movie)
- Spirited Away (already own movie)
- Howl's Moving Castle (already own movie)
- character figurines/statues
