GAF, Sell me on XBOX One..

Don't do it. I just sold mine and built myself a good PC. Other than sunset overdrive everything else is lackluster(or comparable to something elsewhere) on the platform. Even then sunset was a bright flame that burned out quick. Seriously though rumors of QB being pushed back, no crackdown, and Scalebound no where to be seen I can wait for the console to get even cheaper.

Sunset Over Drive

Also that instant game suspension feature is absolutely killer, damn shame I can't do that on my PS4

You think Sony hadn't DRM project too? They were just waiting seeing reaction from the Microsoft one, if that would have worked for Microsoft then they'd have copied

Its true. Sony had some form of DRM.

The XBONE is a great console, I have a PS4 and XBONE and I'd say I use them about the same. Microsoft does have a number of really great titles worth playing now.
MCC, FH2, SO

  1. Add in the fact that it is extremely easy to find titles on the cheap for the XBONE.
  2. I bought Ryse for $15, AC:Black Flag for $8, UFC for $10, Peggle 2 for $4. The digital download titles in general are a lot cheaper on XBONE than on PS4 (YMMV).
  3. The controller is solid, the battery life of it lasts more than a day vs the DS4.
  4. The OS is constantly changing adding new and excellent changes that doesn't require 2-3 different patches to fix the defects the OS change introduced.
  5. XBL seems a lot more stable, certainly compared to PSN. I never have problems connecting, sending messages, updating my apps, whereas on PSN I've hadd countless goofy behavior
  6. It's subjective but the OS feels more like a console game os, being able to pin favorite items, compare gamers, game blog, etc all makes the experience feel like a connected experience, something no other console seems to have.
I like my PS4 but there are great experiences to have on XBONE and you'd be shortchanging yourself to not have one if even remotely consider yourself a gamer.

There needs to be an assumption that this was going to happen until they saw the backlash, since I don't think there was a confirmation that this was going into the final product. But they certainly spent money researching it.

...why is this thread now about Sony?

Why do we NEED to assume any thing? Research does not mean they planned on implementing it until the saw Microsoft take the fall. It could have been abandoned for any number of reasons. Companies research all kinds of ideas that never make it past that stage.

This doesn't qualify as proof.

You know, your list was pretty good albeit a matter of opinion, but this last line is some really bad hyperbole. If playing every single game is an absolute requirement, then that's a reason for owning an PS4, PC, and Xbox One. As things are now, there's very little reason to own all those platforms even if you do consider yourself a "gamer."

I have an XBOX One. There's almost no reason to have one right now, unless you're dying to play Sunset Overdrive. I'd wait.

I think one platform is sufficient for most gamers...unless it is the Wii U.

That's pretty subjective. I should have prefaced with 'in my opinion' but in general the XBONE has titles that covers all manner of genres, often at lesser cost than PS4 (it's closest competitor)
You aren't much of a gamer where you make excuses for yourself on why you don't own a particular console when there are worthy experiences on all of them.

As an XONE owner that also has a PS4 there's no reason to buy one if you have a PS4. If you just want MCC wait for the system to drop in price considerably after a few years.

I have an Xbox One. I have never before in my life owned a device that I hated more. I look at it with disgust every time I pass by it in the living room. Its the worst console I have ever owned....AND I OWNED AN ONLIVE MICROCONSOLE. So no I'll pass on trying to convince you to buy one.

Listen I like the Xbox brand alot and I have no solid reason to buy a Xbox One yet. I LOVE Halo but it broke my heart to see the shit that happened to the MCC. I would honestly wait about 2 more years. Its not that long really.

EDIT: I say this alot but I feel like its true. Wait till about mid 2017 hopefully it will be around 199-249 range by then. It's not worth $349

I have an XBOX One. There's plenty of reasons to own one right now, and you be a fool not to play Sunset Overdrive, I'd buy.

Why don't you get rid of it then?

Ya but you were demanding proof from this guy:
You think Sony hadn't DRM project too? They were just waiting seeing reaction from the Microsoft one, if that would have worked for Microsoft then they'd have copied

That patent is proof of a DRM project. There was a project. I have no idea when they killed it, and I'm sure no one on here can give concrete evidence of when they killed it, but it was a thing at some point.

I was just playing devil's advocate by providing that link, my statement about assuming was an attempt at being empathetic toward the discussion. In my opinion, neither system has DRM against used games implemented so I'm not sure why this is even be discussed a year later, let alone in a thread where some guy wants his opinion swayed on the Xbox.

It's pretty easy to get cheap PS4 games too. I think last of us digitally is $15 and when I got mine last summer I got Infamous for $14 and Killzone for $10.

HDMI in
TV Tuner I out in EU this month
Best controller

Titanfall
Halo MCC (It works now)

Honestly? Aside from less power? It's actually the better console to get.

You aren't much of a gamer where you make excuses for yourself on why you don't own a particular console when there are worthy experiences on all of them.

Are you suggesting that you can't get a wide variety of titles for all manner of genres on the PS4? On the PC? That doesn't make any sense at all. Those platforms are just as diverse, if not far more diverse in the case of the PC. And this cost argument, where are you even getting that? It isn't like Xbox games are $10 cheaper or something. There are more than enough deals to be had regardless of platforms, and given the lineup of PS+ content and deals you see there, I just don't understand. PC gaming can obviously be super cheap as well with things like Steam sales and GMG.

And your closer remarks... Are you honestly serious? I guess despite owning two consoles and a gaming PC rig, I must not be "much of a gamer." Whatever you say.

If he's going to be playing MCC collection online why would waiting a "few years" be a good idea? The population won't be higher than it is right now.

Eh? Why would we assume that they were going to implement DRM when there is no evidence that it was in place or ever planned to be used.

You think Sony hadn't DRM project too? They were just waiting seeing reaction from the Microsoft one, if that would have worked for Microsoft then they'd have copied
What a stupid post! Yeah, Sony was just waiting for the MS reveal to see what they would do, where they would steer their multimillion dollar business based on a rivals presentation, since it obviously doesn't take any time, organization or effort to implement such a plan, smh.

Do you just not know how things work or are you still in high school?

Could save some money that's for sure. Also I still play Halo 4 on 360 the pop is kinda low but it never takes anymore than 5min to get in a game and I play from about midnight to 3am. Not that big of a deal and its a console on the way out. The population on the MCC in a couple of years will be just fine. I say wait it out until the price is worth it. $349 is too much.

As the only person in this thread whose opinion matters.

We all know this to be fact^^

Buy it for Forza 6 and Halo 5.

You're welcome.

This DRM tangent is going to be the wrecking ball that destroys this thread.

Most of the pros and cons have been listed. The most important of which is Sunset Overdrive is a must-play.

The wrecking ball was the OP making a thread inviting a discussion with him and then abandoning it immediately.

Nothing good ever comes of these situations.

I wanted proof that they planned to impliment it before the Microsoft DRM fiasco. No such proof has been provided.

As someone who owns all the current gen, I can't recommend an XB1 if you already have a PS4 unless there is an exclusive that you absolutely MUST HAVE. If MCC is that game, then there is your answer.

Sunset Overdrive is incredibly overrated, IMO. Not worth it at all.

I bought one a couple of weeks ago and I've been enjoying Sunset Overdrive and Dead Rising 3. Trying to decide between the Killer Instinct collection bundle and MCC now. Not sure if 60 bucks is too much for all of the KI content, but I can get MCC for 40. Tough decision.

I'm just foolishly holding hope for Halo 5. Been a huge fan of that series for so long that I really want to at least play 5. If it sucks though I'm selling the thing immediately
I don't know if it's foolish, the beta was fun and it appears 343 is taking more creative freedom with H5 than they did with Halo 4. I hope it turns out, but at worst the master chief collection is finally OK.

Isn't Scalebound an XBone exclusive? That may be a good reason to pick it up. Otherwise wait for the Master Chief Collection to be completely fixed (I hope that becomes a reality for the sake of the legacy) or maybe Halo 5 will be really good.

I got one in December for Forza and SSO. Both great games but kind of overrated, and not worth buying a console for when you have pretty much everything else.

Might be worth it if you like Halo though, which I don't.

What's the big deal with this MKV support? I've seen it brought up multiple times in here but have never heard of that file format before

It is a video compression type, or video "wrapper" that is basically the standard for downloadable High Definition Video. It does an awesome job of compressing High Definition Video into smaller file sizes and can include multiple subtitles compressed within the MKV file. MKV files can even include multiple Audio files for the video, such as English, French, Cantonese, etc. So you can select which audio you want to play with the video. The Xbox One can play them natively.

If you download torrent video files many are in the MKV file format.

So basically people just want video game systems to support their piracy?

Lol. Jeez

I have a PS4 and an XB1, never actually use the PS4. For all its power I feel like my gaming sessions on it are not as good as on the XB1. Be it connectivity or OS or pause/resume or whatever other feature it has going for it, it makes my gaming more enjoyable for some reason.

I can't really give you one killer game or feature, its the sum of it all that makes it the better console in my opinion.

I own an Xbox One, mostly for Halo games, which if you love Halo then its pretty much all the motivation you need to buy one. Other than that, looks like there are supposed to be more Gears of War games coming, not sure if they're sequals or HD remakes. Ryse is a good tech demo. Sunset Overdive was a bit dissapointing IMO, as I didin't like how you have to be on rails most of the time. Titanfall was okay, but not the game changing multi-player shooter it was built up to be. Quantum Break looks promising, other than that third party stuff has already been talked about to death, odds are XB1 games won't look as good as their PS4 counter-parts, but if you are used to playing a lot of multi-player games on XBL that is something you can easily over look.

If you already own a ps4 and a high end pc then it comes down to if you can afford an xbox one, if you can then it is a no brainer.
The xbox one is worth it for sunset overdrive alone. The most fun I have ever had in a video game.

And if I had to buy an entirely separate xbox one to play Forza Horizon 2 I would do it, because it's worth it for that alone as well. Gamers who deny interest in these phenomenal titles do so because they know they can't afford a 2nd or third system after jumping on the wiiU or ps4 bandwagon so they try to shit on the xbox one to justify themselves. It's basically sour grapes, people adopting a negative attitude towards something because they can't have it. These people even go to the point where they pretend to own an xbox one on the internet and then shit on it as if to make their opinion more valid, these are the most blatantly obvious cases of sour grapes. The xbox one is definitely worth having.

I'm in a similar boat except I have no next gen console. End of this month after I get paid looking to hey ps4 wiu or xbone. Ori is pushing me towards xbone but thinking ps4 is the smarter choice

There is no proof at all they were ever planning to use this. They have gone on record saying they never intended to. By the way, the last guy who suggested this got a nice new NeoGAF username by Bish: SonyToo™
