Its true. Sony had some form of DRM.
Same question for you...proof?

You think Sony hadn't DRM project too? They were just waiting seeing reaction from the Microsoft one, if that would have worked for Microsoft then they'd have copied

There needs to be an assumption that this was going to happen until they saw the backlash, since I don't think there was a confirmation that this was going into the final product. But they certainly spent money researching it.
...why is this thread now about Sony?
How is this turning into a Sony DRM thread?
I like my PS4 but there are great experiences to have on XBONE and you'd be shortchanging yourself to not have one if even remotely consider yourself a gamer.
You know, your list was pretty good albeit a matter of opinion, but this last line is some really bad hyperbole. If playing every single game is an absolute requirement, then that's a reason for owning an PS4, PC, and Xbox One. As things are now, there's very little reason to own all those platforms even if you do consider yourself a "gamer."

I have an XBOX One. There's almost no reason to have one right now, unless you're dying to play Sunset Overdrive. I'd wait.
Why don't you get rid of it then?I have an Xbox One. I have never before in my life owned a device that I hated more. I look at it with disgust every time I pass by it in the living room. Its the worst console I have ever owned....AND I OWNED AN ONLIVE MICROCONSOLE. So no I'll pass on trying to convince you to buy one.
Why do we need to assume any thing? Research does not mean they planned on implementing it until the saw Microsoft take the fall. It could have been abandoned for any number of reasons. Companies research all kinds of ideas that never make it past that stage.
This doesn't qualify as proof.

- Add in the fact that it is extremely easy to find titles on the cheap for the XBONE.
- I bought Ryse for $15, AC:Black Flag for $8, UFC for $10, Peggle 2 for $4. The digital download titles in general are a lot cheaper on XBONE than on PS4 (YMMV).
That's pretty subjective. I should have prefaced with 'in my opinion' but in general the XBONE has titles that covers all manner of genres, often at lesser cost than PS4 (it's closest competitor)
You aren't much of a gamer where you make excuses for yourself on why you don't own a particular console when there are worthy experiences on all of them.
Why don't you get rid of it then?
As an XONE owner that also has a PS4 there's no reason to buy one if you have a PS4. If you just want MCC wait for the system to drop in price considerably after a few years.

What a stupid post! Yeah, Sony was just waiting for the MS reveal to see what they would do, where they would steer their multimillion dollar business based on a rivals presentation, since it obviously doesn't take any time, organization or effort to implement such a plan, smh.You think Sony hadn't DRM project too? They were just waiting seeing reaction from the Microsoft one, if that would have worked for Microsoft then they'd have copied
If he's going to be playing MCC collection online why would waiting a "few years" be a good idea? The population won't be higher than it is right now.
Forget MCC. Get it for Ori.
This DRM tangent is going to be the wrecking ball that destroys this thread.
Most of the pros and cons have been listed. The most important of which is Sunset Overdrive is a must-play.
As the only person in this thread whose opinion matters.
We all know this to be fact^^
Buy it for Forza 6 and Halo 5.
You're welcome.
Ya but you were demanding proof from this guy:
That patent is proof of a DRM project. There was a project. I have no idea when they killed it, and I'm sure no one on here can give concrete evidence of when they killed it, but it was a thing at some point.
I was just playing devil's advocate by providing that link, my statement about assuming was an attempt at being empathetic toward the discussion. In my opinion, neither system has DRM against used games implemented so I'm not sure why this is even be discussed a year later, let alone in a thread where some guy wants his opinion swayed on the Xbox.
It's pretty easy to get cheap PS4 games too. I think last of us digitally is $15 and when I got mine last summer I got Infamous for $14 and Killzone for $10.
As an XONE owner that also has a PS4 there's no reason to buy one if you have a PS4. If you just want MCC wait for the system to drop in price considerably after a few years.
The wrecking ball was the OP making a thread inviting a discussion with him and then abandoning it immediately.
Nothing good ever comes of these situations.
I don't know if it's foolish, the beta was fun and it appears 343 is taking more creative freedom with H5 than they did with Halo 4. I hope it turns out, but at worst the master chief collection is finally OK.I'm just foolishly holding hope for Halo 5. Been a huge fan of that series for so long that I really want to at least play 5. If it sucks though I'm selling the thing immediately
What's the big deal with this MKV support? I've seen it brought up multiple times in here but have never heard of that file format before
It is a video compression type, or video "wrapper" that is basically the standard for downloadable High Definition Video. It does an awesome job of compressing High Definition Video into smaller file sizes and can include multiple subtitles compressed within the MKV file. The Xbox One can play them natively.
If you download torrent video files many are in the MKV file format.
