I owned a gen and played snes at a friends house so i can't know every game. I don't know if snes had a list that could match this thread though. Oh and I guess i'd have to say mario 3 for best game, it's still good today.

About damn time this game was mentioned. The NES was a baseball fans wetdream. A time when SNK meant something to me.


While I loved Baseball Stars. For me LLB was unmatched. Beating up on Chinese Taipei never gets old.

Tombs and Treasure is a pretty obscure game. It's basically a kiddified Shadowgate. It has, by far, the most atmospheric music of all NES games.

StarTropics is a Nintendo-owned IP (I think?) so they absolutely NEED to make a new one for the Wii, or at least release it on the VC.

Faxanadu - I really liked this, ended up finishing it and drew some big-ass maps (couldn't say the same for Zelda 2, never got through the last dungeon).

Faxanadu was a drunk-ass man's Zelda II IMO. Sorry, couldn't resist that one.

I'm not sure how anyone could consider Simon's Quest difficult unless they were thrown off by the obfuscation of the useless NPCs. Because really, that game defined the word cakewalk. (Ironically enough, the text on the back of the box proclaimed the game as making the original look like a cakewalk by comparison.)

Anyways, my #1 would be Super Mario 3, followed by Bionic Commando, Zelda 2, Castlevania 3 (though I've been spoiled by the Japanese version), and Mega Man 2.

My God the hours I put into this game. I think I played at least 30 minutes to 1 hour each morning for years before going off to elementary school. It far surpassed the original and as awesome as CVIII was, it was too easy to beat compared to the previous two. CV2 was the start to the Metroidvania franchise we all hold so dear now.
