Watched Platoon for the first time the other day and was floored by it. Of course this is because Netflix recommended it after watching The Naked Gun so I'll submit those two.

Great choices. I don't think people have said "The Fly" yet. Ugly Goldblum is scary.

Fun fact: went to a dinner party at Ferris Bueller's house fairly recently. Lives really near me, actually. It was a trip.

Hard to pick, because I saw them all with kids eyes. Never went back and watched movies that appealed to adults during that decade.


Maybe Terminator and Amadeus?


I have a soft spot for John Hughes' films also. Not because they were great movies, but he really captured the look and feel of the decade.

No mention? For the first time in living memory, GAF disappoints.

There's too much awesome. People can be forgiven for accidentally dropping some of it and not noticing.

For my part, I'm going to mention Transformers The Movie.

And The Wizard. How can NeoGAF forget The Wizard? It just happens.

Or how about The Neverending Story?
